The Girl

This is the story of a girl, written based on her experiences in life, the life that showed her many circumstances and experiences that changed her over the years.

The girl was born out of place, in a land that society told was her home but she felt out of place anyway. She was a South Indian girl in North India, and her solace was found in the arms of her mother who used to read her stories and also give her daughter books to read so she may also inoculate the habit in her.

Her father, a man of the world she believed, worked in a private sector job that required him to be transferred every year, year on year, which led to the girl doing her school in different schools, making friends in different parts of the country. This led to the girl learning plenty of different languages over the years.

Finally, as fate would have it, her family would finally settle in Hyderabad, they had heard that it was the best place to study, survive and thrive because it was the crowning jewel of the South, a city that was thriving like none other.

She hated it, of course. She hated moving every year, she hated the place at first, it was alien to her, she didn't have friends. But time heals, and time makes bonds. So she made her bonds, she laid her roots, the anger and resentment she had developed with her parents subsided, giving way to being open to new experiences and more. She discovered friends, she discovered that she was a foodie, and what better city for a foodie than Hyderabad, a city that swears by its kitchens?

This is the story of a girl who never found a place for herself, never called any city her home, until one day she did, and it was the city of pearls and biryani.
