We have only known about two types of living beings on the earth. The humans and the animals. But, there is an artistic genius who created a new form of life called Strandbeest.
A Dutch artist named Theo Jansen created this Strandbeest.It was his 16-year project to create this mechanical animal.Strandbeest is made of PVC yellow pipes connected together to give it a shape and its movements are primarily managed by the wind forces. He created a lot of such mechanical animals. All these artificial beings can sustain storm and can react to the environment.Strandbeests are usually on beaches so that they can utilize the wind power. They also can absorb air pressure in the absence of wind power.

Theo Jansen is constantly improving this artificial life and creating different types of Strandbeests.One of his creations ‘Animaris Percipiere’ has a stomach which contains recycled plastic bottles that can store water and can be pumped up to a high pressure by the wind. There are other creations of his which can sense storms and anchor itself to the earth.
This Dutch artist’s creations is a fusion between Art and Engineering. He just didn’t have a knack in physics and art but went on to experiment and create this artificial life. Jansen wants to put herds of these animals on the beaches so that they live their own lives.
We all hope to see much more of such creations which are eco-friendly and renewable.Theo Jansen is one of them who just didn’t stop from achieving his dreams.
