One of the rarest sightings in the sky is going to happen today.Partial Solar Eclipse is going to take place today in India. There are slim chances of you observing as it happens just before the sunrise in most places of India.
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the Sun.According to NASA, people in parts of Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Sumatra and Borneo will experience a total solar eclipse that will last for a minute.
In India, the partial solar eclipse will be visible on March 9 in extreme Northeast places like Kohima and Nagaland as the sun rises earlier in those places. In most of other places, the phenomenon will begin before the sunrise and will last for a lesser time.
The Indian Ministry says that the partial solar eclipse will last from 4:49 a.m to 6:19 a.m IST.The obscuration of the sun by the moon at the peak of the partial solar eclipse will be 49% at Port Blair. This, however, excites the astronomy enthusiasts as they can observe the aspects of the sun that remain mysterious.
Scientists cautioned sky gazers not to look at the sun directly without proper equipment and techniques.Doing that will cause permanent retinal damage due to the high intensity of light emitted by the sun.
