Significance of a Civil Engineer in Everyday Life:

Feasibly the earliest and vast field notable is the Civil Engineering where it isn’t about only building skyscrapers, Bridges and roads.

In previous days, they used to believe that it was the only duty of a Civil Engineer to make a building stand and doesn’t fall over; This wasn’t fairly any science but just little estimations until mid-1800’s, where the exact research on geology has started.

Slowly the scientists came to know the behaviour of soils and how they react when structures are built on them.

We have seen the Tacoma’s narrow bridge failure in 1940, which clearly shows that there existed many drawbacks even in the later science of constructions.

But Civil Engineering isn’t just about constructions anymore; it deals with even Environmental sciences, waste waters collection and treatment, supplying freshwater and even much more,

Which seem quite common work today, but what if all of the sewers backs up or access to fresh water is lost, people just get mad.

Coming back to what Civil Engineers are mostly known for, structures and roads,

When any structure is built they don’t only take into account of Loading of the material but also on what does it sit, So, basically most part of Civil Engineering deals with Geological Analysis (Geology).

If we take the example of Burj Khalifa and Palm Islands in Dubai, which is the World’s Tallest building and the first man-made Islands, were built on sand and sea using the techniques that were never used.

The other thing that inspires me about Civil Engineering is the Dams, which are massive most probably, which supply fresh water and generate Electricity for the nearby areas, and also if failure of these occur the losses would be devastating.

But what Astonishes me is that our Indian structures like temples and forts were built long ago even when Engineering and Technology didn’t exist at all, which are far better than the lately built constructions all around the world.

But It’s not just about Indian constructions, there are even pyramids and constructions that were built even before the namely science (Civil Engineering) have started.

Anyhow, Civil Engineering is one of the most important disciplines in our day-to-day life, but also every other engineering professions like Electrical, Mechanical and Computer Engineering are important in their own respects.
