As i see it, one can be intelligent without being wise, but one cannot be wise without having significant intelligence, whether inborn or developed along with accumulated wisdom. This is proven by the little maxims being quoted as...
Being intelligent is knowing that tomato is a fruit,
Being wise is knowing that not to put put a tomato in a fruit salad :-)
I find all these clever sayings but limited in their ability to answer the question on their own. In all such cases, the wise person must first know the fact that allows them to apply that fact as a wisdom, by choosing to act on it or not and how...?
Intelligence and wisdom are two human qualities that are extensively researched and debated about. Intelligence has certain limitations as to its application, where as wisdom is limitless. Intelligence normally reflects the speed with which you can learn. Wisdom reflects what you know about people and conflict. The ability to acquire and apply knowledge a million times is more useful than the simple quality of having knowledge already.
In a humorous, and anyone please don't mind it :-)
Being intelligent is knowing that your boss is wrong. But, being wise is keeping your mouth shut...shut...shut. Intelligent are those who have knowledge about many things wheras wise are those who can apply the knowledge.
Intelligence can be negative causing destructive effects; wheras wisdom is always used positively. In this context sharing the following quote.
" Wisdom always leads to truth, while intelligence may be used to deceive".
-Tao Te Ching.
Education can create the illusion either or both. Education is an experience that contributes to wisdom; if not intelligence. Education need not be limited to formal schooling, but can include self-learning, which contributes to wisdom as does formal education.
If life was a game, wisdom would be like having played the game for a while and know the nooks and crannies of how the game works. Intelligent is like being born with great skills in the game. One can become incredibly wise with age, but one born with less than average intelligence will likely be a less than average intellectual his entire life.
An intelligent person cannot be called wise, but a wise person can be called intelligent. I would prefer to become wise than intelligent. What about you...?
Good luck towards being what you want to be.
(-: Thank You :-)
