" Actions Speaks Louder Than Words"

Indeed, it is true!

The Heroes of our Nation proves it every single time. Our Real Heroes requires no introduction for them and their work as their work speaks it all. I feel honored and proud while penning down about one such real hero who is back safely from the WAR!

Wing Commander Abhinandhan

Firstly, he chased the Pakistan aircrafts which tried to intrude into our territory. He shot down one of them, the M16. But unfortunately his plane was also shot by another Pakistan aircraft and crashed into the enemy territory. He ejected from the craft and survived the crash.

Later, when Commander was back to senses asked people around him whether 'it is India or Pakistan'. The militants of Pak shouted and chased him. Commander raised patriotic slogans and fired in air to escape from the mob. He knew that he could be caught anytime by Pak army. So as the matter of the security and confidentiality, Commander swallowed some of the important documents into his mouth and soaked some papers in water completely destroying all the evidence.

When Pak army captured him and asked him details about his aircraft and mission he refused to answer and just said I cannot answer any of the questions.

The dedication and selfless love for the nation is what we get to learn from such heroes. Inspite of such grave danger he showed his bravery and valor and spoke nothing.
He placed nation above his own life.

The whole nation salutes you Sir - Wing commander Abhinandhan.

"}]
The flames burning through the scorching white sky were ironically dousing the fire of hustling harder in my exam-tortured soul when I was told that I would be required to interview a certain Mr. Nikhilesh Garnepudy, the only information given to me was his being a musician.
With anticipation and anxiety growing within me like an intertwining of parasitic plants, I embrace this opportunity and I would be lying if I said I was prepared for this talk that would go on to stay with me for long into the future.

As the fire of the day burned into ash of the night, I finally called Mr. Nikhilesh Garnepudy and no, he isn’t a 30-something singer but a second year CSE student at KMIT, Hyderabad.
One really needs to be blinded by the will to achieve in order to visualize their purpose in life at such a young and distracted age. So I knew Nikhilesh had it in him, the will, and this would be verified by the man himself later on as he said “ I can’t sit idle, you know. If I don’t feel like working on my music. I code and if I get bored by my subjects, I box”.

I remember when I questioned him if being into such a varied spectrum of activities poses a risk of deviation from our true goal when he mentioned he is also the author for his college magazine. And refreshing was his reply “ All my activities, in a way, assist my main passion i.e music. Boxing is a stress buster which helps me stay focused and calm, writing helps me in developing lyrics and coding, well, that is my field of interest in technical education pursuing which makes any person sensible and sensitized and I am no different”.
But I know the exact moment when I felt he was no different, at least during his younger years. He had joked “ The only reason I would attend music classes during my third grade was for chocolates”. Who doesn’t love chocolates? They are just my type of motivation!
But this fun bit had more depth to it as the talk about his motivation continued.
“My mother was pregnant with my sister and yet, she would accompany me to the music lessons as I was adamant about not attending these classes. She learned music solely to motivate me, right from the third grade through the fifth grade when I would win my first prize, a consolation, in a music competition, until the time I recognized my passion”.
If not for his relentless and persevering mother, we wouldn't be in this moment, in this time frame, two complete strangers involved in an hour long phone call.
And Nikhilesh wouldn't be where he is now, a lot more achievements to add up to his already growing music career with 2 Gujarati films signed and his presence as a public speaker, doing his bit for the nation through melodies and words.

Along with his mother’s momentous foresight, it was strict and structured discipline enforced by his parents that proved to be pivotal in his success. He surprised me when he said ” I don’t use my phone after 10. I sleep and wake up early and start a typical day with exercise, jogging, boxing and meditation”. His father, a legal adviser and advocate, and his mother, a financial consultant, have indeed immense contribution to his success. Their advises were crucial, just like our parents’, the only difference being the fact that Nikhilesh actually took their advice and stuck by it.
But his ‘refreshing tone’ hit the monotonous road when he said AR Rahman was his favorite, and monotony couldn't get any better!
“ I share his devotion for the pure classical music which seems to take on a breath of its own when he touches them with western undertones. He is a maestro in Carnatic music, which I have been learning for 15 years. This music has the mellifluousness of the South, it touches souls on an intimate level.” said Nikhilesh while speaking about his icon. Not so shocking is his favorite piece rendered by AR Rahman - ‘yeh haseen waadiyan.’

And as it can be inferred, Nikhilesh sees himself as a music director in 10 years, though he insists that education too holds immense importance.
I knew then that I had to ask him- “It is true that education is important, but don’t you think too many passions have been constricted and too many talents have burned out due to this blind rat race that Indian education currently seems to propagate?”
What followed was more relatable than his love of chocolates.
“Our education doesn’t have to come in the way of our passions. In the world where politics, nepotism and sometimes, sheer luck are influencing factors in one’s journey, education provides security of employment and actually, would help us take risks with our alternate passions. Talking about interference of education with our passions, efforts need to put, man! We have to manage time and push ourselves. Wasting hours checking for the ‘likes’ and memes isn’t taking us anywhere. As far as today’s education system is concerned, it definitely has to become more practical based” he replied, the last statement being almost as soulful as his music for my physics-loving self. “Don’t tell me the Newton’s law on board, show me the Newton’s law in action” he continued as we laughed, my laughter fading into realization that in an era, where the youth has besmirched the name of ‘taking risks’ by using it to justify recklessness, Nikhilesh seems to have made ‘calculated risks’ trending again!
Talking of trending, Nikhilesh has some pretty strong views on social media and isn’t particularly fond of the manner in which majority of social media is used for futile purposes, with exciting news articles like the moon conspiracy or important stories like those from war torn lands given much less attention especially within the younger strata of users. He believed that once we stop mismanaging our time by moderating social media use, we can surely pursue our passions along with education efficiently.

And though Nikhilesh holds such opinions that challenge the flow of the aisle, he appeared little different different than us when he said how important his 3 -friend huge circle is to him. “Friends are 50 percent the reason behind my success. I have many unreleased songs because of their honest and well-meaning criticism” he said.
Interestingly, it was recording a song for his friend that educated him on the ease of recording a song and gave him that push towards producing original music. “It is 400 Rs per hour to record a song in any good studio in Hyderabad. It is really easy as well.”, I remember him saying.
And he maintains loyal friendship with another circle of friends too-the inanimate yet the most lively friends, the books.
“ I binge read. My favorites authors are Stephen King and Dan brown.” he said and this was followed by me quickly suggesting my favorite Khaled Hosseini to him as per the invincible rule of bookworms.
And just like that, an hour had elapsed, the time strung through wisdom, passion, strength, dreams, visions, humor , books , chocolates, hope and most importantly, simplicity. A fresh ordinary-ness that was …..anything but ordinary, just like this conversation.
His words ring through my mind “Before doing anything, just ask yourself three questions. What is going to happen if I do this? What will happen if I don’t? Is it going to harm anyone? These simple yet crucial questions are the ones that make survival in this world not only easier but also worth it.” Such thinking is exclusive to those who see a tomorrow and see themselves in it, clearly.
And that is why I think Nikhilesh is a hope for future. Not because his impact is less in the present or he is a genius waiting for ‘the’ time. But because the greatest investment in future is desiring it in the present. And that is what he does. Hence the title.

Hey Mom,

I'm coming back to you, in the similar way dad came,

wrapped in Tri-Color, shortened by an inch or two.

I know you're strong mom,

I know you would pass this too.

Last time you hugged me when dad was gone,

this time I'm sorry I won't be there to cry with you.

Hold me in your arms one last time,

kiss me on my forehead till I'm with you,

I promise I won't run away this time,

that's true I won't reciprocate too.

Remember it's just my body that's gone,

remember your son is still with you.

You were the one who gave me this life,

I'd continue living my life in you

Ask my love to forgive me this time,

tell her there was nothing that I could do

On the day when love sent sparks in our lives,

Sports are to health like salt is to food. Food is tasteless without salt, Life is worthless without sports.

Sports make a person active and energetic. It keeps them in proper health and makes them happy. Sports play a vital role in a person’s physical health, mental health and life.

Today, we see everyone running behind success and say education is the key to success. Right from the age of 4-5, kids are sent to schools, then to junior colleges, later to graduation college. Then they get into jobs or business to start this so-called rat race of ‘wake up, work, sleep & repeat’.

In this life cycle, we forget to eat, smile, walk, talk or live this life.

These habits of non-timing eating, irregular physical activity, lack of proper sleep, over stress on mind make a person unhealthy by mind and body. After analysing this, schools and colleges have started inculcating sports in academics. Sports now has become a compulsory part of schools and college’s timetables. This also helps in bringing out talented sportsmen and women in there who not only achieved great prizes for themselves but also bring fame and name to their institutions.

Here are my batch mates, the famous sports personalities of my college from batch 2k19:

IELTS – Gateway to your dreams of studying abroad

Are you planning to study abroad ?

An English language proficiency test is one of the pre-requisites for many of the overseas universities.

IELTS is one of the most preferred English language proficiency tests which is accepted by most of the Universities in USA , Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and many others.

What is IELTS ?

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an English language proficiency test conducted by the British Council. It tests the full range of English language skills required to live in an English-speaking country.

The following aspects are tested in the test:

• Listening

• Reading

• Writing

• Speaking

A real life conversation is part of the assessment. Various variations of English like – British English, American English and Australian English are covered.

IELTS Test Format

IELTS has two versions of the test – IELTS Academic & IELTS General. There is a slight variation in the two tests but in both the cases the test takers are assessed on the aforementioned four skills viz, Listening , Reading, Writing & Speaking.

Each of the skills (module) is graded on a band of 1-9 and also includes half points. ( eg. 4.5, 7.5 etc.). The overall score of the test would be the average band score from all the four tests.
There is no minimum cutoff from the test perspective i.e you cannot fail the test.

However, each University/ institution has a specific cutoff -criteria which needs to be met to gain admission.

How to take the test?

You can take test either on a paper or a computer. You need to book a test slot at any of the recognized centers. The “Speaking” part of the test would be a face to face one with a trained IELTS Examiner.

Preparation

At the outset, getting a good score in the IELTS does appears to be an achievable task especially for someone with fairly good English language skills. However, there are certain skills and nuances which need to be understood, that would help to score better in the IELTS test.

An expert trainer would be able to provide the required guidance to gain insights and develop skills to score higher in the test.

Why IMFS ?

IMFS is India’s best coaching institute for overseas Test prep. It has British Council certified and trained Faculty who would help you to score better in the IELTS test.

Watching the movie "Gully Boy", every one of us got inspired by the struggle and the determination involved behind the face of popular rappers.

Now is the time to read and get to know more about the journey of such underground rappers. Below is a small interview of one such rapper, Rajveer Sharma.

Q: Tell us something about yourself?

RAJ: I am Rajveer Sharma from Chattisgarh, Korba. Ever since I was a kid I had interest in hip hop music, music has always been my first love but I was more inclined towards dancing, later when I got more familiar with the music and rapping I begun listening and writing raps during my school days.

Q: Have you written any songs, if yes what are your best creations so far?

RAJ: I have written many songs. The closest to my heart are "Indopak", "Akela" and "Sahi Hai Sahi Hai". You can check them out on youtube ;)

Q: What made you write these songs, what were the stories behind these?

RAJ: These songs are really close to my heart and have a deep meaning according to me. I can brief you about them:

The song "Akela" itself conveys loneliness. I realized this a very early stage that people will merely support you with your dreams and understand what your passion is. It's only you who has to face the consequences and take criticism and you should consider it as a chance to improve which takes you one step closer to the best.

This rap in "Sahi Hai Sahi Hai" is all about positivity. It has very simple that while chasing your dreams you should be optimistic enough to pursue what you want and should not bother about others opinion.

Q: What inspired you to pursue rap music?

RAJ: Bohemia is my all-time inspiration. Apart from that, I thoroughly follow Eminem and Divine.

Q: Whom would you consider as your mentor(s) in the field of music?

RAJ: I would consider Zack Knight, Mickey Singh, and Master Salim as my mentors.

Q: What hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?

RAJ: "Love the way you" lie and "not afraid" by Eminem."Kali Dinali" by Bohemia himself.

Q: What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

RAJ: My recent favorites are Roll Rida, Badshaah and Raftaar. I would love to collaborate with them in near future.

Q: How has your experience in the music industry been so far?

RAJ: It was no less than a roller coaster ride. I did get appreciation at the same time criticism for not following the same repetitive career path which every parent desire their children to be. To get in this field I went through ignorance and humiliation which taught me more about life, I want to convey my journey and experience through my rap songs. Stay tuned for many more new songs of mine coming up soon.

MY TAKE ON FYI

Most of us have seen and attended events and TV shows which elevate successful people.

They are given a lot of attention, but what about the people who work so hard to make our lives better and are not yet given enough recognition and appreciation they require?

We need a platform for such unknown, hidden and unconventional superheroes to share their experiences and stories to inspire people to follow their dreams and passion.

FYI's intention is to do exactly that, to enhance and bring real professions into limelight.

It wants to introduce you to a few special people from various walks of life who chose innovative journeys in their individual communities.

It believes their unconventional stories are a true motivation to anyone willing to take the first step towards one's goals. Their drive is to provide a platform for such passionate people whose work deserves an opportunity to be recognized and how a simple thought led them to where they are now.

When I first heard the idea, I was completely stirred up, it felt so fresh and stimulating. There are so many innovations and people involved to make our lives easier and merrier but only a few of them are appreciated or given importance to, why not we take this opportunity to thank them and listen to their parts and how much they struggled to reach the position they are in now. It's a great opportunity for anyone looking for inspiration.

And as the saying goes, "A role model provides more than inspiration; his or her very existence is confirmation of possibilities one may have every reason to doubt saying, "Yes, someone like me can do this"

Come let's be a part of this remarkable event, on 25th February

Venue: At42- A traveller's collab cafe.
