The question on whether art can be defined or not is still hotly debated to this day, however, in the words of Andy Warhol, "Art is anything you can get away with," so the question still remains. Art is something that has the potential to speak with individuals on a personal level. One such art form, called Surrealist Collages, incorporates the use of surrealism, which has been described as something out of an inexplicable dream. While there are not many artists who make surrealist collages, we catch up with a young student who not only makes collages, but also got to show off his work in Bulgaria. Meet Arash Khetrapal, the 19 year old student of Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam.

I found a lot of good material to use to create from studying a few different artists in the stedelijk museum library"These collages are super weird, and make you appreciate them without really having any emotional meaning or depth to it at times," says the 19 year old, "Of course, it is a relatively new concept when you compare it to the conventional idea of art. There really isn't any real world parallel to it."

Surrealism itself is a pretty new concept to the world of art, beginning in the 1920s, according to wikipedia, since then, it has slowly spread across the world but is yet to find itself pushed into the mainstream world of art. That, however, hasn't stopped the many artists across the world from making surrealist art and collages.

"I didn't actually know that there were other people who made surrealist collages after a few months from when I started. My work began in a bubble of isolation, without knowledge of the many others who are into this art" he says.

On being asked on his inspirations and how he starts his work, he says, "It starts with a 1600x1600 canvas on Photoshop, and as for inspiration, I live in Amsterdam, there are art exhibitions everywhere, and most of the times they are free," he laughs, "I found a lot of good material to use to create from studying a few different artists in the Stedelijk museum library."

Conceptual clarity is all you need to perform well in mercantile law. Besides reading mercantile law practicing MCQs is also important because students often get confused about different topics. Kids are beautiful, one of the many reasons being they could be honest and happy even when you’re trying to be at the most serious level with them. You could put on a suit and tie and talk about North Korea’s relations with the south, while your kid walks in with all the swagger in the world, tagging along the toddler in the rocker, of course. So how de we, as a structured society, break them down from such honest pockets of joy into synchronised machines. Of apparent reliance and broken down innovation?

Is it the routine testing of memory and not intuitiveness? Or the knack of punishing those who step outside our borders of convention? Why do we stress on teaching generations after generations complex calculus and intensive biology and not allow a single soul inside our curriculum to explore their more creative side. Don’t get me wrong, not trying to undermine sciences or their importance in shaping a child, but, don’t you think, shaping into a mould isn’t the best way to promote new thinking? It would be foolish of me to assert that everyone finds these streams a burden. But one would be foolish to assume some do. Maybe those some really are one of a kind in terms of art or music or dance or poetry or storytelling or the list goes on and on and on.

This is where we need to make some changes to the system in place, we need to allow kids the freedom to do what they love and not force them into thinking the other way around. We need to give them the choice of doing arts at an early stage so that they don’t waste 10 years of a life trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

1) Make classes like painting and learning an instrument a part of the general curriculum and not something rich schools give their students as a commodity.

2) Invest in acquiring experts in the field of performing arts such as music or dance

3) Allow kids to make a choice of a certain activity that they want to be a part of

4) Give equal importance to these fields as those of public speaking and language

In a country where poets are lauded one day and blemished the next, we need more who understand art for what it is. A way of expression. An outlet of sorts for everything from sorrow to satire. Disciplines like dance and music can enhance the learning experience of any child. It can improve their social skills, and make them a more valued part of the community. We need the next generation to understand arts has always been an integral part of human civilization, and not something you do when you’re bad at math.

Schools have to be the ones who take the initiative in this context. Instead of totally focusing on scoring the highest in a class test, we need kids to breathe a little more of the artistic vibe. At the end of the road, it would be disheartening to see a director, a songwriter, a painter and a dancer trying to pass the semester. Here is an excerpt from an interview, from the book Epiphany

The school, in the '30s, wrote to her parents and said, "We think Gillian has a learning disorder." She couldn't concentrate; she was fidgeting. she went to see this specialist. So, this oak-paneled room, and she was there with her mother, and she was led and sat on this chair at the end, and she sat on her hands for 20 minutes while this man talked to her mother about all the problems Gillian was having at school. And at the end of it, because she was disturbing people; her homework was always late; and so on, little kid of eight. In the end, the doctor went and sat next to Gillian and said, "Gillian, I've listened to all these things that your mother's told me, and I need to speak to her privately." He said, "Wait here. We'll be back; we won't be very long," and they went and left her. But as they went out the room, he turned on the radio that was sitting on his desk. And when they got out the room, he said to her mother, "Just stand and watch her." And the minute they left the room, she said, she was on her feet, moving to the music. And they watched for a few minutes and he turned to her mother and said, "Mrs. Lynne, Gillian isn't sick; she's a dancer. Take her to a dance school."
I said, "What happened?" She said, "She did. I can't tell you how wonderful it was. We walked in this room and it was full of people like me. People who couldn't sit still. People who had to move to think." Who had to move to think. They did ballet; they did tap; they did jazz; they did modern; they did contemporary. She was eventually auditioned for the Royal Ballet School; she became a soloist; she had a wonderful career at the Royal Ballet. She eventually graduated from the Royal Ballet School and founded her own company -- the Gillian Lynne Dance Company -- met Andrew Lloyd Weber. She's been responsible for some of the most successful musical theater productions in history; she's given pleasure to millions; and she's a multi-millionaire. Somebody else might have put her on medication and told her to calm down.

Interviewing is a lot of work. You need to prep, make sure you've got a few resumes printed out, check to make sure your suit still fits, and so on and so forth. There's a few places you should check out before you head off to the interview, regardless of the position you're applying for.

You can visit the website by clicking here.
3) The Company Website:
This might seem like a given, but that's not actually the case. While, as I've stated in the past, the primary goal of an interview is to make sure you're the right fit, it's also important to show that you know how to do research, and that you're actually invested in working for that specific company. It's a good way to help get a sense of whether or not it is actually the company you want to work for, and it gives you a chance to find some key data that can help you in discussing why you're a good fit for their company.
So there you go. three key websites to check out before you head off on your dream interview. Make sure your suit is ready to roll, your resume is looking perfect, and brush up on your interview skills. You're 90% of the way there, make sure you don't miss a beat!
