It's time to beat evil in style!

Vijayadashami or commonly called as Dusshera is a festival according to Hindu Culture that is celebrated on the tenth day of the Navratri season. Dussehra is celebrated in different ways in different places throughout the Indian Subcontinent. It is celebrated to mark the win of good over evil. The original tale is said to be the win of Durga Maa over the demon Mahishasura. That is why she is also called Mahishasura Mardini.

When it comes to Dussehra we also think about Navratri. Navratri is a nine day long festival which occurs in the Sharada Month of the Hindu calendar, it usually falls in the month of September/ October.

Pandals are established to worship goddess Durga with heavy stage decorations, Lighting, recitals in the name of the goddess and pooja’s. In some places people conduct some fun activities and events that last the night.

Each of us wants to grow and achieve something. We celebrate great careers, successful relationships, and those who admire our journey. We've always been taught to dream big.

The process of becoming the best version of yourself is never easy.

There are ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and sometimes days when you give up completely. No matter how passionate you are, sometimes things go wrong and you question everything.

But at that moment we focus on our ultimate goal. Suddenly it seems so vast and impossible like everything is trying to prevent you from getting there. That's why it's important to learn to enjoy the process.

We are so busy trying to reach our goals and achieve them that we completely miss the small good things that happen on a daily basis. At every stage of our journey, it's important to celebrate small achievements.

Even when you're passionate about something, there are moments when you feel unmotivated, but often it's not because you're not putting in the effort or working hard enough, but rather taking a break and slowing down and trying again. This is because it needs time to recharge.

If you don't take a pause, your passion will be annihilated. Taking a break is more important. This does not mean that we have failed to build consistent momentum.

We all need a break to recover and come back with enough energy. Seeing it as part of the journey and enjoying the moment makes the whole process fun and enjoyable and doesn't seem like a chore.

We usually put our happiness off into the future, believing that our happiness lies in getting so-and-so work done. But let me tell you, the right time will never come until you let it.

If you want to live a thriving and cheering life, you need to stop putting happiness and joy into the future and start loving the process.
"}]

“Tell me about yourself” is the one question often asked in an interview as I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about the interview, as I come across many during my drives from the past semester.

And every interviewer asked it without exception. And this was the case for any person who appeared for an interview. What makes giving a self-introduction so important? Self-intro is through which we introduce ourselves to the panel or the interviewer. It seems vague, but that is what self-intro is in its entirety. And it also plays in setting the motion for the interview.

Suppose in the resume you provided who domains you are working on, but in actuality, you are not confident in some of those. So, what to do? In your introduction, mention a project you are working on in the domain you are optimistic about. And accentuate your passion for that domain and exaggerate it as much as possible. This way, one can induce the panellists or interviewer to the path the interviewee is confident about.

A good self-introduction sets the tone of the interview as well as provides an insight to the interviewer about oneself. But duds in self-intro can prove disastrous as creating the first impression is the cornerstone for an interview.

What makes a good self-intro? A concise briefing about oneself in a confident manner touches every aspect of your resume and provides more info. Let me elaborate on what I said. A self-introduction has to be delivered confidently and has to provide more about oneself. One shouldn’t recite what was already mentioned in the resume as a self-intro as it makes you look as unprepared. One has to prepare what to say for a self-intro before appearing in an interview and practice it many times to avoid forgetting it under pressure.

Avoid saying what is present in the resume as it is try to elaborate on them if possible if not avoid it entirely. Don’t spend much time telling about your education, try to keep it short. Give a concise statement about your achievements and elaborate on achievements or projects which coincide with the job profile. To make an impression that — you are one asset they shouldn’t miss. Be as presentable as you can be with the tone of your voice without any stuttering. Tell the interviewer about your strengths and weaknesses. The strength should be that which is useful for the job profile. One doesn’t have any problem selecting the strength but the issue arises in selecting a weakness. Because the weakness should be in a way that a positive outlook can be derived from it. For example, “ I get nervous when I am under a time crunch, but for good or worst I get more motivated to complete the work on time.” And one thing to remember when selecting a weakness is that the positive outlook to be provided should not contradict the weakness but enhance it as a cornerstone of one’s personality.

So, I hope this helps everyone who is reading in creating a good self-introduction.

"}]

The ones struggling with depression, anxiety, and more. The ones who think they have mental health issues. The ones who strive to make the world interesting because it’s drab for them. The ones who are struggling to get out of bed every single day and get through the day. The ones who are told to just think happy thoughts and be done with it. The ones who think they’re above the ones who smile. The ones who think they’re below the ones who smile. The ones who are now awake, at this witching hour in the middle of the night scrolling through social media and wishing their lives were as good as the ones they see here. The ones who are misfits and the ones who think they’re misfits. The ones who are judged and prejudiced against. The ones who are left by loved ones and the ones who push their loved ones away.

It’s okay, we will get through. And as the great song goes, we shall overcome some day.

txt
rich_1592199809583

I have written a lot about mental health, suicide prevention and more in the last 8 years or so as a professional writer but what prompted me to dig up a two-year-old post of mine from Facebook and write this now is the fact that an actor's apparent suicide yesterday has gotten the entire social media in a frenzy with everyone seemingly becoming an expert on mental health issues.
The ones who are posting about mental health are the same ones who most likely would have said "lite lelo" or "don't think so much" to their friends or a loved when when approached with a problem. What I want to talk about now is exactly this. While it is good that people are speaking out and posting "you can reach out to me", "I would rather listen to you now than attend your funeral" and more cliched lines, the problem is that this will die out in a week or so, like every issue on social media.

txt
rich_1592199809584
Having interacted heavily with mental-health professionals and having many friends with mental health issues and having mental health issues myself, I want to urge you, if you are reading this, that it is a lot more than "don't think so much" and "think happy thoughts" and "do yoga and pranayama and you'll be fine". It's like saying "think happy thoughts and you will be fine, to someone with a broken hand or with diabetes. Spot the signs of depression and help out a person. Sometimes all a person needs is a reassuring hug and an "It's okay, things will be fine" from you.
It is important for you to be able to spot signs of depression in a person you know because more often than not, a person suffering from depression might not express sadness directly but there will definitely be subtle signs. For instance, they might suddenly lose interest in something that they love doing. In my case, I love baking but I haven't baked in six months. I love gaming but I didn't game in the last six months. They might develop changes in their eating habits.
Watch out for these signs in a person you know and educate yourself and actually be there for a person than just posting something about it on social media.
And to reiterate, if you or someone you know is suffering from mental health issues, remember, we shall overcome one day...
"}]
