His hard work got him to the city's best Engineering college, but his Non-English background is making him a loner. He was afraid people would laugh at him if he spoke in Telugu. <\/p>\nHe thought about it the entire night. Next day he went to a group of students and asked a query in Telugu. To his surprise none laughed. A week later he confided to his new friends about his lack of communication skills. Some promised help. By the end of the second semester, he could write small essays and speak without mistakes.<\/p>\nSounds familiar? With all that endless hours put in scoring a good rank, there is little or no emphasis on Communication skills at Plus two level, which turns into a big challenge at college. How can one learn a language as vast as that ? <\/p>\n1. Start small. There is no hurry. It is a small learning phase of life.\n\nDivide learning into parts. Vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar. <\/p>\n2. Keep a goal of ten words a day, one rule of grammar, and two correct pronunciations. <\/p>\n3. Watch videos of simple conversations, or read magazines like Reader's Digest. <\/p>\n\n\n4. Refer to the dictionary. It never gets out of fashion. Learn new words, and explore multiple meanings and opposites of the words you already know. <\/p>\n5. Speak. A mistake is better than a non-action. If you are scared of sentences, start with words, and observe what response is the other person giving.\n <\/p>Student life poses many challenges which prove to be ample opportunities to learn, help and grow with others. Always take the initiative to any task and see great results.
