The New Year has arrived so quickly in the blink of an eye and one thing that will funnily remain common to everyone is writing and signing with 2018 for a while; till it actually sinks in that it is 2019.

The Fault In Our Stars is the sixth book by John Green, debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list in January 2012. It is a story of two youngsters who meet each other in a support group, Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters are teenagers who are fighting cancer. The author explicitly takes us through the journey of these two young people from reading books, playing video games to dealing with cancer. While Augustus suggests 'The Price of the Dawn' for Hazel she recommends 'An Imperial Affliction' which has an ambiguous ending; these two set out on a journey to Amsterdam to find the author Peter Van Houten, and then they fall in love. This mature and powerful love story would even glue someone who's not so happy with reading love stories as well.
This book is a lot more than a love story; it has a profound conceptualization of life and death. The captivating description of the feelings of 16-year old who knows she is going to die and how she chooses to stay happy despite losing the one she loves; is what the readers would find exceptional.
Augustus gives a speech in the support group which states 'Oblivion is inevitable' but then this love story would be remembered for a long time by all the readers for the thrilling and emotive reading experience it gives the readers, it truly describes how a short life could be eternal. The book closes with hazel looking up at the sky into the stars stating that she is happy with her choice.
It does not have a great story to talk about. It is self-absorbing and that's probably the reason it is the best catch for youngsters. Sometimes too much of emotion and no interesting story built could be less appealing for critics. It has no funny element that could have made the story little better.
This story has been brought to the celluloid by Josh Boone starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff, with Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, and Willem Dafoe playing supporting roles. It has done a good business at the box office.
You can buy the book here.
"}]

All speaking is public speaking whether to one person or thousands. Really?

Glossophobia or speech anxiety, is the most common fear people have across the globe. Public speaking is an art, when you are able to convey exactly what you see and what you feel without fear or reluctance to a large audience, it is termed public speaking. A perfect structured piece of information, opinions, feelings or relevant detail when driven to the target group clearly is public speaking. All of you have your own thought process, your own judgment, sometimes it is not really easy to go out there and speak about it to a large group eloquently. Is the fear of public speaking ingrained into everyone? We are glad to say that is just a myth, public speaking enriches your personal and professional life. Here are few perks of being a public speaker.

1. Higher levels of Self-Confidence:

Self-confidence is the most arresting quality one can have. For being a good orator, confidence levels is all that matters, many genius ideas and inspiring thoughts go unnoticed because these genius brains hold themselves back, either because they are not confident that they would make a difference or they fail to communicate the exact picture of the same to the audience. Even if you are wrong you can sound right that's the beauty of self-confidence, you could be nervous but more of speaking which in turn will help you be a persuasive speaker. 2.Build A Fan-Base:

Some of the best charismatic personalities in the world are great speakers. In fact, being a great speaker can get you popular support for your cause, whether it's pitching your first startup or campaigning for elections. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is one such example, he was an excellent orator and a great speaker, winning accolades for his speech at the United Nations General Assembly as a Minister of External Affairs under the Morarji Desai government. It was an instrumental step in his career that boosted him as a potential PM candidate.

3. Socialize:

Human beings are social animals, our civilization is built upon the very fact that we can share our ideas, communicate them clearly in various languages and have often gone the extra mile for the exchange of ideas between various cultures. Becoming a public speaker is that extra mile in today's society, in this age of Internet when people are increasingly becoming reclusive, it is important to remember that the need for people who are good at speaking their thoughts are more than ever, and this helps them build relationships easily, as they are approachable and open to ideas.

4. Career building:

Presentation skills are the first impression of your caliber at your workplace tomorrow. It allows you to form connections, influence decisions. In your working world, even to communicate with your colleagues, inform them about the objectives of the work, to make clear the vision and mission of your work; good communication skills matter the most, for both problem solving and conflict resolution.

5. Critical Thinking:

When you are used to public speaking, you automatically tend to measure your words carefully before you speak, this massively boosts critical thinking skills in the speaker and makes them a force to be reckoned with in debates and arguments, as someone who is not afraid of speaking to a large group of people is certainly not someone whom you want to get into a battle of words. Critical thinking and analysis of what they're going to say is what will make the difference between making a valid point and being considered weak enough to be spoken over.

There is a free workshop, titled Effective Public Speaking, being held at Media Junction, Golconda Cross Roads.
