On his death anniversary, here is a list of some iconic movements lead by the Father of the Nation, an inspiration to millions. <\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1580370493905","data":"Champaran Movement<\/b><\/p>The Champaran Satyagraha of 1917 was the first movement led by Gandhi in India and is one of the key movements in the Indian Independence Movement. The Champaran farmers were being forced to grow Indigo and when they protested, the protests were crushed brutally. The farmers asked for Gandhi\u2019s help and through a calculated non-violent agitation, Gandhi managed to win concessions from the authority. This was Gandhi\u2019s first ever active involvement into Indian freedom politics. <\/b><\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1580370493906","data":"Kheda Satyagraha <\/b><\/p>Kheda, a village in Gujarat, was badly hit by floods, the local farmers pleaded for tax exemption. In 1918, the Government gave relief to the conditions of payment of revenue tax until the famine ended because of the public support Gandhi got in May 1918. <\/b><\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1580370493907","data":"Non-Cooperation Movement<\/b><\/p>The sole reason for the inception of Non-cooperation movement was the brutal Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. After the massacre, Gandhi came to the realisation that the British had been able to stay in India only because of the co-operation they received from Indians. That is when he initiated the non-cooperation movement. With the support of the Congress and with his leadership, he was able to convince masses nationwide to initiate the movement. This was one of the biggest movements in the freedom struggle. <\/b><\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1580370493908","data":"Salt Satyagraha<\/b><\/p>Also known as the Dandi March, this is considered to be a pivotal incident in the history of freedom struggle. It was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience, wherein he walked for 24 days from  Sabarmati Ashram, 240 miles (384 km) to Dandi, protesting against the The 1882 Salt Act that gave the British a monopoly on the collection and manufacture of salt.  On the 24th day, he vowed to produce more salt without paying any tax and soon he broke the law for salt, which sparked outrage among Britishers. After this, Gandhi was arrested and this news gained a lot of attention in the press. Mass civil disobedience spread throughout India as millions broke the salt laws by making salt or buying illegal salt. <\/b><\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1580370493909","data":"Quit India Movement<\/b><\/p>Quit India Movement was basically a civil disobedience movement launched in the year 1942. The phrase Do or Die was used here first where a mass protest led by the All India Congress Committee was proclaimed on a large scale. But then British Government finally realized that India will no longer be under their control and the main question raised was how to exit peacefully from such a terrible ordeal. <\/p>"}]
