The inevitable interview after the inevitable college courses can be quite boring, but not all the time. Here's a funny take on a job interview written and directed by Srikkanth Yadav.

If you're like me and you value good sound quality and don't want to burn a hole in your pocket for buying an excellent sounding music system which also has Bluetooth, the F&D 5.1 Channel 700x Speaker is the one for you.

F&D has a long history of providing excellent sound quality for the asking price, and the 700x comes with a guarantee of providing some of the best sound quality in this price range. It, of course, goes without saying that when it comes to sound, you get what you pay for. But when you have a product that offers you more than what you pay for, it is something that shouldn't be avoided.

The Pros:

The Bluetooth, along with its versatility of being used both as a home theatre system (not a very good one though) and a speaker for your computer, or simply connecting it to your phone. All of this, combined with the sound quality make it a product worth checking out. The bass is not that great, so if you're into bass heavy songs, it won't meet your needs. However, it offsets its poor base with excellent lows and mids, and I can personally attest to the fact that listening to classic rock on these speakers are a treat of its own.

The best part about these speakers is that with some clever wire management, you can put speakers around your room and listen to quality music from your phone using Bluetooth.

The Cons:

The bass is poor, bordering on very poor. It surprises me that F&D would let this get through their quality check but it seems that the poor quality of the bass is by design. This is clearly not a speaker system designed for deep bass, and whatever it manages is just passable.

The other issue I have with this speaker system is choppy Bluetooth connection. There are breaks in the audio very occasionally, rare enough to not notice at times, but when you do notice, it gets really annoying.

For the asking price, this is an excellent speaker set, and it comes with Bluetooth, with the ability to be used connected to your TV, Computer or Phone.

The measure of a changed world is different for different people. The sceptics might say that nothing is changing, but there are a few who go out of their way to make sure they are there for the underprivileged, using what they are good at to change their world, despite what the critics and the cynics believe. One such person is the 18-year-old Sidharth Bendi, a musician and student of CBIT. I eventually started playing at school shows and it snowballed into what it is today."

The third fundraiser we're organising is on May 21 at Our Sacred Space."

Clarifying further about the fundraiser, Sidharth says, "It's going to be an open mic event where you also get to set up stalls at the venue, if you want to put your art for sale for instance, or if you can cook really well and want a place to sell your food, come join us at The Beautiful World Movement fundraiser."

We all imagine the roar of a crowd at a packed cricket stadium when we think of cricket, but that's only a part of the story. Legends playing on the ground had to travel a long path to reach there on the grass pitch. My college also had the privilege to bring out one such awesome personality to the cricket field. Sankarankutty Sandeep Warrier (born 4 April 1991 in Thrissur, Kerala, India) is an Indian first-class cricketer. Sandeep is a right-arm fast medium bowler who plays first-class cricket for Kerala. He was signed up by the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013.

Sandeep Warrier was a 2010-2013 EEE batch student at Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT). During his college days, he was the cricket team captain of the college. He also got selection for the MG university team. Under his captaincy, FISAT team bagged many trophies at the college level including the Rajagiri Cup, Adishankara Cup and the FISAT trophy. He was a true motivator and an enthusiastic team player.

It was around 9 or 10 and, watching his brother and some older guys playing, he wanted to be like them, to play like them, with them. When he was 10 he was called to play with people aged 20 or 22 because of his exceptional bowling skills that were outstanding, thence started the journey. His inspiration was the South African bowler Dale Steyn. He started playing in school team and later in the college team. In between these, huge opportunities too fell on his path. The major teams he played with include India Under-23s, Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sandeep Warier a right-arm medium pacer from Kerala came into limelight after his impressive spell of 6-44 for Kerala against Jharkhand in 2012. In 2013, Warrier was signed by the Indian T20 league team, Bangalore for the sixth edition and was yet again brought back by the same outfit. Continuous hard work, practice and determination were all that he had that brought him to this stage in career.

He says “discipline and hard work are the top priorities in his playing career and he wishes to learn from past mistakes in order to get better”. A person can be successful at sports only if he enjoys the game, and have fun on the field. Working with famous players made him realise how this game can be played efficiently and skillfully.

Speaking in front of a large crowd of sports enthusiasts and students, Sachin Tendulkar shared his wisdom on the significance of perseverance and discipline early in life: "Chase your dreams and never give up at any moment. Most of the people try but leave the race when the actual target is just a couple of steps ahead. Goal setting is important but working on them with total dedication is more important. Do not go for shortcuts in sports and studies. To achieve something big, you must follow a proper procedure," said he. Yes, all true success stories show this amazing path for building a bright career.

Editor's Note: Some of the images used in this review are from the TV show adapted from the book, also called American Gods.

It is my wholehearted belief that Neil Gaiman is a wizard. It's no secret that I'm a fan of his work, and with the TV show out now (which you can watch on Amazon Prime Video), it felt like the right time to review one of his craziest books: American Gods.

As someone whose only qualification when it comes to reviewing books is reading and loving the written word and being buried in books since childhood, Gaiman is a nice little jig into the world of ancient old myths and dead religions. His obsession with Norse Mythology is quite apparent in one of his central characters, let's just call him Mr.Wednesday, because I do not want to reveal more than I should about the book here, apart from a single line that explains the plot without getting into details.

Our protagonist, Shadow, spends three years in jail hoping only to go back home to his wife, and right before he's released, finds out that both his wife and his best friend died in a mysterious car crash. On the way to his hometown of Eagle Point, Shadow runs into the enigmatic Mr.Wednesday, who pulls him in the midst of a war between Gods, both old and new.

Ian McShane as Mr.Wednesday

Gaiman's trademark style is the mood he sets with his writing, the character he builds and the way the story movies. It's methodical, fluid, and still, has the time to amaze you by taking time with its characters and going through the motions of becoming an iconic book. Travelling across America on a mission, Shadow accompanied with Mr.Wednesday run into some the old man's 'old friends', uniting them for a cause.

Neil Gaiman's interest into old mythologies comes to life in this book as he turns the stories he's devoured into one we can devour with pleasure. If there is anything I would compare to how this book feels and flows, I would compare it to his Sandman series, and anything compared to Sandman is a bonus.

Final Verdict:

American Gods is a fantastic book, if you're an average reader and have never come across one of Gaiman's books before, this would be the perfect place to start. It's weird, it's stylish, it's funny even at times, and Gaiman is an expert at guiding your hand through the wonderland he's built in the pages of American Gods.

It's a nice little twist to the age-old mythologies of the world, and there is nothing quite like it.

How many times have you opened a book in college only to have your friends tease you with phrases like ‘Eyyy topper’, ‘Chaduvu bidda’, and other miscellaneous phrases that are designed to make you shut your book out of embarrassment? If you study in an engineering college, chances are that you’ve heard it a lot. This is just a tiny slice of what I believe is a world-wide conspiracy to make humans tend to mediocrity.

Seriously, think about it. Consider every rom-com ever, in which the strong, ambitious, highly intelligent protagonist who works hard to be a productive member of society is ‘tamed’ by romance and is shown the joy of being ordinary and mediocre. Think about every time Penny calls Leonard and the gang ‘boring’, every time Ted Mosby’s friends make farting noises when he tries to tell them an interesting fact, the time Hermoine Granger was made to say ‘Books! And cleverness! There are more important things - friendship and bravery’, every movie in which the lead character left behind a high-flying career to pursue a smaller but more fulfilling one closer home, every book or movie in which the smart one was the sidekick and the lovable goof with the big heart was the protagonist. Do you see what I see? Do you feel the world collectively glorifying mediocrity?

Any attempt to do more or better yourself is met with passive-aggressive comments trying to get you to give it up. Since when did ambition and passion become undesirable traits? The easy-going, approachable, fun-loving person is seen as the staple for a good life. The phrase ‘It’s okay’ has, in my opinion, become way too common. A lot of times, it is NOT okay. It is not okay to drift through life without purpose. It is not okay to submit your half-hearted attempts at work. It is not okay to be incurious. It is not okay to not try every moment of your existence to be the best version of yourself (yes, a double negative).

Ignore those trying to get you to be ordinary- pull out your textbook, talk incessantly about your passion, work unashamedly hard- and show everybody what it’s like to live in color in a grey world.

"}]

Erasmus Mundus originally ran from 2009 to 2013, but since 2014, the Erasmus+ program has taken over the EU Scholarship program, without completely replacing the older program. That being said, lets get to the meat of the matter.

College is some of the best times you can have in your life, the memories of which you will pass on to the next generation, fondly remember when you have a bad day to make you smile again. Because of this, it only makes sense that when in college, you have the best gangs who quickly become part of your life, but when this gang gets together to do something, to practice an art form like dance, they form unforgettable memories not just for themselves, but for the people who watch them perform as well. Meet Nemesis from GITAM Vizag, a group already famous for their fantastic dance acts.

"We don't have a leader per say, but we have gurus who made Nemesis stand where it is today; Ritchie Ritesh, Venkatesh Kedari and Rahul Sai Vatikutti. They've always been around for us, helped us grow and were always focused, unwavering in their goals," says Lekha, "We are like a family. We work together, we fall together and shine together. Nemesis has a whopping 45 members as a part of its family, an impressive and amazing feat for a gang in a college, considering them coming together for the love of dance and to gel together as a family. We ask Lekha if there was any particular performance of Nemesis that was her favourite, and she smiled before answering, "Every performance of Nemesis has a story of its own. The hard work we put in, the dedication that goes into it, it's special in its own way."

On being asked what her advice to students who want to make something of their gang and themselves would be, Lekha quoted the gurus of the gang, "Ritchie says, 'Staying strong as a family will always help to get through all the difficulties. Nothing can stop us from achieving our dreams', Venkatesh on the other hand, 'We as a group never complained about our academics We lived in our dream and same time we are successful in our academics', and frankly that is exactly what I'd like to tell students as well."

Students coming together as a gang to do something productive or something to change the world around them is an inspiring thing, and we hope to tell more stories like this as the days come and go. Nemesis is a prime example of unity among students, coming together with a shared love of Dance and staying for the family. We wish them all the best!
"}]
