Engineers' day, celebrated on the 15th of every September in India, commemorating the birthday (156th birthday as of 2017) of one of the greatest engineers in India so far and a great human being Sir Mokshagundam Visveswarayya popularly known as Sir MV, vis a great way to present new ideas of budding engineers in most of the colleges, and Stanley College stands no exception!

With it's immensely talented, knowledgeable and varied assistant professors, professors, heads of the departments, principal, director etc ,and not to forget the equally eager to learn and enthusiastic students Stanley was able to grab numerous applications and successfully conduct 'KALPANA 2K17' (a student level project along with various other competitions as a part of this day celebrations) which was organized by IETE Students' Forum (ISF) in collaboration with Department of ECE. Right from mind-blowing Case Studies/Technology of Tomorrow (Example: Using IoT for a Swatch Bharat), Proof of Concepts, Learners Projects etc to creative Startup Projects which included the popular snake game created just by using simple C language ,a Smart House (based on IoT) to a Robot Arm made using a hydraulic press (how cool is that!).

The day started off much in chaos with thrill and excitement hanging around in its aura, no sooner did the models got set up in their respective places for display than the judges, faculty and students started pouring in! We were given mind-boggling insight on how we can (and we should) improve our project and apply it to the real world for the betterment of humans. How this was just a first step to forever in the fastly advancing technology of this world [I remember also being told by our peers that we had a satisfactory glow on our faces, which was 'cause we never considered the fact of our win or loss, we were just extremely happy that we made our first ever practical dream come to life! (P.S I sincerely hope that this isn't a formal article, and if by chance it then kindly ignores the above part, I'm a huge memory hoarder Thank you.)]

The day ended, completely mind blown by a presentation by Dr. Linga Reddy, IETE Hyderabad center and speech by Dr. Durga Prasad our two respected judges and inaugural of IFS body of Stanley by Shri Rajesh Kumar, Scientist of DRDO, DRDL, then fingers crossed we sat holding hands (come on, who wouldn't give a chance to hope?) And finally the must awaited moment appeared when the winners were announced and handed the certificates along with the cash prize (award).

EXTRA information: The snake game (done by Gayatri and Nidhi) won the first award in the start-up project (who doesn't like that game!) The above picture is of the smart house which ranked second in position, created by a group of 4 members(Savitri, Kruthika, Madhurika ,and I (*extremely pleased*) and the proud moment being that the event was in collaboration with ECE department where as CSE ended up bagging the first two positions! Which showed that engineering doesn't draw borders around its departments!

Last but not the least ,I would cordially like to thank each and everyone that lead this event towards success (Our principal Dr Satya Prasad Lanka , Professor Dr. K.N Sahu ,Director Dr. A Vinaybabu ,all the HoD's, staff members, and special thanks to our R and D cell -Sigma which includes our beloved Dr Ravindaran Ethiraj and Charles Daniel Sir without whom we wouldn't even take part in this event let alone win!).

This is Sadia signing off with a thump on my heart that we did something and a vision in my mind that we all will make it to the top.

Here's to many more such successful events.

Cheers!

Trust human beings to reduce a group as violent as the Caribbean pirates into caricatures and parodies of themselves by imitating their speech and making fun of them. That and telling kids that dressing up as pirates is great for fancy dress competitions.

But Arr, I would rather see all you scurvy striken sea dogs walk the plank rather than not talk in pirate speak and loot treasure! So shiver me timbers as I stamp me wooden leg and tell you 5 things you and yous can does today to feel truly like a pirate.

1. Learn a sea shanty:

The men and, rarely, women on board a pirate ship sang songs that were called sea shanties to keep themselves alert and entertain themselves on the high seas. The songs ranged from a beautiful poem given life by the pirates singing it in their deep voices that carried across the waters to crude and crass that would make even the toughest of men blush.

2. Watch a lot of Pirate movies:

The culture of talking like a pirate is, truth be told, not that big in India. But that doesn't mean we don't have movies that tell us about pirates. The next point will be a suggestion about which particular TV shows to watch, but as for movies, everyone's favourite Disney pirate Jack Sparrow has given us plenty of material to go on with Pirates of the Carribean.

3. Watch Black Sails:

While the first season might be a little slow on the uptake, Black Sails is definitely a show that you need to watch when it comes to pirate life on the high seas. Their sense of morality (or lack of) and their pirate laws are well shown in the show, and it is a more serious take on the culture of pirates than the many funny movies and cartoons have shown us till date. It's pretty great.

4. Play Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I love this game. The Assassinations in it are completely boring, but the beauty of this game comes from sailing the high seas and looking for ships to loot. Edward Kenway, the swashbuckling pirate and accidental assassin, along with his ship The Jackdaw take us on an epic adventure across the Carribean, complete with ship battle mechanics, sea shanties, boarding and taking over a ship and looting it dry. If you ever wanted to actually feel like a pirate, this is the game for you.

5. Dress up as a pirate!

Cosplay is big in the country now, so you dressing up as a pirate is not that weird anymore. Celebrate The International Talk Like A Pirate Day by dressing up as an actual pirate and poking people with your fake sword!

"Success"- Everybody needs success. Everyone is running after this seven letter word SUCCESS.Rather than just running after the success defined to us by Google and people around us. We should pause and ask ourselves this question- " What success means to me?"

Success is not just professional. It can be related to personal as well as professional life. A smile on parent's face can be a success for one, getting a promotion maybe success for other. Success ultimately leads you to happiness, satisfaction and peace at the end of the day.

Now, I know that everyone's definition of success is different. What is a success for me may or may not be a success to you, but this throws up an interesting conundrum. What is the correct definition of success? Is my success greater than yours or is yours greater than mine? Should I feel morally superior if I'm happy with where I am with my success or feel discontent because someone else's definition of success was them making a lot of money?

The question of morality, then, comes to the definition of success as well. Maybe your goal is to make a lot of money, maybe your goal is to give away the money you make to charity and make the world a better place, by the very essence, we cannot say all successes are the same.

But the point is that individual success needs to be celebrated and congratulated nonetheless. Merely getting to that position, in itself, is inspiring.

So, rather than just running after theoretical definitions, take a pause ask yourself "Is it what I am running after will lead me to success?"

"}]
It is essential for any human being to have a strong sense of morality, but where does this morality come from?

There are certain things in the world that are, without a doubt, bad. Certain things that, no matter your location, your background and position in life, are something you should not be standing by and watching it happen or creating a condition in which you let this thrive. For situations like these, we can agree that we have to stand up to it no matter which belief system you come from.

But the problem is, this is seemingly difficult in an increasingly sad world. Women get shackled in society's expectations and yet the same people who should stand up to it are the ones scared of the word 'feminism'. Children get exploited every day and yet we are all the more happy to ignore it just so we aren't affected. Poverty erodes away the humanity of those around us and yet Indians have learned to completely ignore poverty.

So desensitised we are to the harsh realities of life, sometimes we actively propagate it. We have convinced ourselves that as long as we are clean and healthy, nobody else matters. We dump garbage on the streets and actively pollute water around the city, because as long as it is not your responsibility, it does not matter, right?

This has to end. We need to stand up for what is right, irrespective of your political, moral and ethical beliefs. I know I will.
"}]

No matter what someone with a vested interest in truly terrible cinema might say, a person's idea of love, more specifically us student's idea of love, is shaped by the media they are exposed to. You can see the name of the page that shared it and go read the comments yourself. For all I know, some of you might even agree with this. For those who do the latter, I have a question for you all.

What on earth is wrong with you?

Why do you think stalking a girl is a legitimate way to win her affection, and you ladies, you're not absolved from this. Some of you honestly believe that this is how love works, thanks to Mahesh Babu movies and his borderline creepy and control freak antics which you somehow end up finding cute. Like, what on earth is wrong with you.

You see this is a vicious cycle of abuse that is being propagated and normalised because this is the only way of expressing love that we see in our movies and popular media. Unsurprisingly, many of our parents are wary of being affectionate to each other in front of us (that doesn't stop them from yelling at each other and fighting openly in the house, by the way) and the only source of what we identify as 'love' comes from an already regressive institution that tells you that women are objects that must be pursued before they can be obtained, and it tells women that their worth is only in how conventionally attractive of a man she can attract. That and the fact that women in these movies do nothing except dance around on the screen and get kidnapped at the right time for the 'hero' to save them.

I didn't want to write this on stuMagz, this would be more suited for my personal blog, but considering the number of students that read this magazine and the fact that my target audience for this piece was, in fact, students, I had to get the word out.

So all you folks who assign love this over the top mythical quality of an item that you must possess at any costs, you are only setting yourself up for failure. Women are not objects and men are not desperate loners who just need women to be an arm candy that comes with a remote to shut them up. Which means

Love is a beautiful thing that'll happen to you in its own time. You can't rush this, it is not a commodity you can purchase. Sure, you can throw money around and get a few fake friends and relationships, the kind that'll disappear at the first sign of trouble, but it still won't buy you companionship and respect. The essential part of every relationship is trust and respect, what kind of respect are you giving someone you stalk? It clearly shows that you do not care about that person's rights, neither do you care about respecting them. All you need is someone to love for the sake of loving, and there is nothing more disgusting than that.

I mean, there are a lot of things more disgusting than that, but you get the point.

You're still young, use this time to learn how to respect someone you like instead of being a creepy stalker. Your idea of love is disrespectful, toxic and downright wrong, given to you by movies that sell a pipe dream to the lowest common denominator of the country who do not want to dream further than their entitlement to their would be partners.

It's time to stop. It's time to reassess your situation and stop being creepy.
"}]

In recent years there are lot of games that had been getting compared to the witcher 3 because it's in class by itself with a lot of strengths. When open world games like Fallout 4 or mass effect Andromeda (see Andromeda is funny enough) fall short in some areas, they are compared to the witcher 3 as an example of how they could've done better. In my opinion, the witcher 3 is a standard in gaming right now because of two things ,
The characters and the side quests

1505629852298
txt

First off ,as an open world game there are lot of characters that just stand around and do nothing (you know the standard RPG background characters)but the unique characters of this game is where it really stands out . From main characters like ciri and yennefer to side characters like the bloody baron ,CD projekt RED brought them all really well . Characters have personality, their own motivations and they don't just stand around in one area giving out quests to Gerald . They are interesting and you start to care about them more as time goes on because the quest will develop them even further. Unlike other games where side objectives feel like a tack down afterthought, side quests of this game were written so well that even fetch quests feel important. Go there kill this type of quest had a story behind it . Gerald would meet someone that needs help and you would learn the personal reason or history behind doing this quest . On top of that it was told with a cinematic camera angles ,so you won't feel like you were doing something less important and wasting your time ......(irony....) . When you get done you actually feel like you helped out . There wasn't a quest where it's go take this item and deliver across the city because I'm lazy and need to do something to do . The witcher contracts were interesting and each one had a little story behind . Some quests were short and funny like the one with the old lady in cooking pot and some even felt like the main quests like one where he helped out Keira Metz and if you do it she shows up later in the story to help Gerald. So it wasn't just busywork but you are also rewarded for your time .

The game industry will be looking at the witcher 3 as an example. Gamers want interesting characters and side quests . Witcher 3 has open world which is varied ,it's characters had a charm and backstories and quests are told in a way that you feel like you were accomplishing something . We are learning that water is the most important element in universe from our childhood. We accept this truth but doesn't show importance in practical. For example: We take glass full of water to drink, but we drink only half glass and throw remaining in drain. We all know the present situation of our country no guarantee of rains in time. Now we have sufficient water to use but what about future?

Please THINK... make others to THINK...

coming into my idea of ''SAVING WATER FOR FUTURE" in three steps :

1. Reducing the wastage of water.

2. Reusing the water.

3. Looking for new water resources.

REDUCING THE WASTAGE OF WATER :

The above statement means using of water according to importance and in limit. We must take care of leakage during water supply.

For example in our daily life : 1. We use pipe water directly for washing car and bike. Instead we can use bucket and mug. 2. To bath we use buckets of water in the form of shower instead we can use bucket.

REUSING THE WATER

The above statement means using same water for multiple times in different places. This is the concept of recycling or reusing, the water we drink is not pure before supplying, water is recycle or purified. If you remember in olden days, we have one tree in front of our house where we wash our hand and vessels.

For example in our daily life: 1. We wash fruits and vegetables with water and throw that water in drain, instead we can use that water for watering plants. 2. We wash clothes and throw that water in drain , instead we can use it in our toilets etc..

LOOKINFG FOR NEW WATER RESOURCES

The above statement means searching for new water resources. India is an agricultural country and we have wonderful natural resources in the form of rivers. In our country we have some rives which flow throgh out the year like Ganga,Sindh etc..and in some rives (godavari) in rainy season water is over flowing and government is forced to leave the water into sea (bay of bengal). Government must take care in using this water by builting reservoirs across it, instead of leaving into sea.

CONCLUSION

The most important thing is to make people understand the importance of water and use water according to importance, in limit. If possible government must take some harsh decision like imposing tax on usage of large quantity of water.

The first two steps to save water for future, is in our hands. This is possible only by WE but not I. So let us join hands to " save WATER for future".

One of the first things you learn when you're hungry and have no money to eat is that you need to save your money the next time you have it. Your stomach grumbles and growls and you realise, in that sudden moment of clarity brought from hunger and anger - an emotion I like to call angry - that you should have saved any money that came your way.

But of course, now that you didn't, something needs to be done about it. Some wise man once said when a man is hungry, he has only one problem, as opposed to when he isn't, which is when he has infinite.

The more important and long term lessons on what you learn from hunger is that you are prone to make irrational decisions when you are hungry. A thief steals, at first of course, because he is hungry. You make poor financial choices and refuse to learn how to cook because you believe money will always be there and that you can always order food, which in itself is a flawed notion.

What hunger can teach you is survival. It is, without a doubt, one of our earliest instincts. Hunger has lead man to seek the impossible, run miles and hunt animals. Some tribes in Africa still practice this, they mark and hunt their prey over a hundred miles, running all the time.

The essence, then, is to learn how you can survive without going hungry in this world. Hunger teaches you to be ambitious and to learn, understanding that you won't go hungry again, to live a life where you can have 3 square meals per day at the very least.

Because life, at the end of the day, is about doing what makes you happy and making sure that you earn enough to live comfortably and eat properly.
"}]
