My mom uses a very old mobile handset.

Big, bulky, could be mistaken for that brick video game we used to play in our childhood.

We found it was from the 1990s with the help of carbon dating tests.

The other day was a small pooja at my place and all my over-enthusiastic relatives turned up in considerable numbers.

My mom's phone rang, she was speaking loudly to someone as her voice was not audible to the caller. Just another point that even my neighbor four flats away could hear the conversation the volume at which she spoke.

My over dramatic paternal aunt got the perfect opportunity.

"Girls, come here once".

I and my sister went to her.

"Show me your mobiles."

We showed our latest yet affordable phones.

"Oh My God, children nowadays.." she sniffed back her tears as my mom went on to speak at her loudest.

"How could you do it?"

We looked at each other.

I was wondering if my conversation with the cutest crush is out. I wanted to explain about how he looks like Sidharth Malhotra and it's not my fault.

My sis panicked about her lavish cosmetic purchases.

"How could you girls use latest mobiles when your mom uses that stone like handset?"

We heaved sighs of relief. None of the stuff is out.

My mom came back into the room.

Aunty hugged her and started weeping. Mom too joined her.

All the other relatives were confused as to continue the pooja, or there was some bad news.

Mom asked among sobs "Who died"?

The aunt said "Emotions in this generation's heart."

"What?"

"Look at your phone dear, how could your fashionable kids let you use it ?"

"Oh, that's ok dear, I hate these swiping nonsense phones, but yes, this generation has no emotions", and continued telling how we are disobedient, how we don't study as required etc.

Our gang of cousins was rejoicing that none of our mischiefs were exposed. We planned to go for a movie and celebrate.

Well, the story goes, a long time ago , that ancient handset had a repair.

The service guy said mockingly "Madam, you will not get this piece anywhere!".

Mom thought it was a compliment and continued to use it even after a decade. :)

Maria from St.Ann's explains the importance of internship.

Civil engineering deals with the design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure. It is a broad engineering discipline that comprises a variety of niche areas like planning, design, material management, project management, construction, waste management and the likewise. Each of these specialised areas holds tremendous potential for employment.

Few Softwares like AutoCad, StaddPro, Interior designing can fetch you a good Job with a decent package.

1. AutoCad: AutoCAD is software used to create 3-D designs of buildings and structures, modify, analyse and optimise them. The three-dimensional designs are used to understand how the structures would look after the construction.

2. STAAD Pro: STAAD.Pro is computer-aided analysis and design software related to structural engineering. It solves the indeterminacy of multi-storied and complex structures like tunnels, bridges, piles and culverts, in few seconds by dividing them into elements like steel, concrete, timber and aluminium.

3. Interior Designing: If you are interested in interior designing, you can take up a short-term course in the subject and begin your career in the field. Gotham Bay, half past midnight:-

Distant police siren sounds could be heard as the sounds of howling wind, the rain and cracking of the thunder filled the shipyard.A silent silhouette can be seen gliding softly towards a warehouse in the bay.The warehouse was totally empty except for a small dimly lit room with a little man in a dark green outfit and a small derby hat.The silhouette slowly crawled towards the man and perched on the high railing of the room and held out a dark green play card marked with a bright red question mark.It flipped the card and there it was a riddle.

'Riddle me this,Why is a raven like a writing desk?'

The silhouette threw away the card and swiftly pulled out something sharp and threw it with dexterity towards the falling card. The card stuck beside the man startling him. The silhouette glided down upon the little man while the man ducked and fell beside a few oil canisters setting them ablaze. The light now revealed the features of the silhouette.

They all met in the intermediate and because of few cute little incidents they became close and a gang! let us know about them..

Here goes their interview..

Introduce us your gang?

Our So called 12 monkeys out here became a gang of 6 girls and 6 boys. Till then each one of had a very different lifestyle and everyone had their own chota wala kind gangs, 5 years back in the most important and the most stressful stage of our lives. Intermediate.. we all came under one umbrella because of a single person called Praneeth... He stands as the reason behind our gang now.. and then.

Describe us about your gang?

Describing our squad. I don't know how to start up this we are one bunch of crazies and we really enjoy each others company a lot. We all are very connected to each other. And to be frank, where ever and whenever we see something about a friend's gang or quotes all we get is our gang in the mind. Not only the craziest things we do we stand by each other in all situations. We see a life there and we are a family.

How did you all become a gang?

As I have introduced Praneeth before, he stands as the reason for this family. Being a common friend, during inter days he with his boy's crew started teasing girls (we). Eventually, days passed being in same class most of us were in the same classroom. Day by day their naughtiness increased and our approach towards them started becoming positive. Slowly we started talking to them. Then Praneeth introduces us to another two Suhas and Jagan and that's the way we became a gang :)

Anything which is untold, and wants to share on this platform?

We don't need the daily conversations and togetherness. As long as we stay our relationship lives and we will never be apart. And all the time we know each other better than they know their selfs... With gentle honesty, we stand guide and support us. To share our laughter n our tears we are always there and their presence never reminds us of being alone. We grow separately without growing apart.

And my dear friends.. I neva know what my life would be without u all.. We make the best. You all are a family I choose Our time together is just never quite enough

During my schooling, I read in Social studies that basic requirements are Food, clothing and shelter. So, is electricity a luxury? 70% of India's population live in villages. If all the comfort is focused and drawn towards urban areas then how about the rural regions? I make a happy statement that we (Govt., NGOs, Public institutes) are putting in good effort to address rural problems. No, don't sigh with relief because we've got to throw some light in unexplored regions of our country where electricity is a luxury, a comfort but not a basic requirement.

They distributed day lamps (Liter of light model). They used plastic water bottles filled with water to light their houses. The bottles are place on roof top such that one-third of it is outside and two-thirds of the bottle is inside the house so the sunlight retracts. This practice of lighting houses is efficient because bottles don't generate heat like the bulbs we usually use. The plastic bottles can be sent to recycling and the recycled ones can be reused, thus an eco-friendly project.
