With hopes and ideas of finding another Earth or life on another planet, astronomers have launched many successful space missions. Out of them was Kepler spacecraft. But due to the limited survey of Kepler spacecraft, scientists had to build something huge. Their intensive research has led to the vision of TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite ). Wondering what an exoplanet is? An exoplanet or an extrasolar planet is a planet outside our solar system that orbits around a star. The satellite launch is planned in March 2018 on a SpaceX falcon 9 Full Thrust rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

WORKING PRINCIPLE:

It is equipped with 4 wide angle telescopes and associated CHARGE COUPLED DEVICE (CCD) DETECTORS. Drop in the brightness of the star due to planet transits is used to detect planets. And based on the decrease in light intensity, the size, mass and density of the planet's atmosphere is determined. The survey is divided into northern hemisphere (13 sectors), southern hemisphere(13 sectors). The survey is broken into 26 observation sectors, 13 sectors each year. The spacecraft will spend 13.7 days observing each sector. With every movement of cameras, TESS covers over 2000 degrees coverage. It's coverage is 400 times larger than Kepler. For bright stars, the TESS will capture images every minute, because more light can be captured as the star is bright. For dimmer M-STARS the TESS will capture every 30 minutes for enough light for a clear image. I have always found that I'm not exactly the type of guy that prefers hanging out after work or college to go out and let my hair down with a bunch of friends, unwinding and connecting with folks. I realise now that this isn't exactly a good thing.

You see, I like my video games and my movies. I like staying home, being cooped up on the bed or in front of my PC that I built with countless hours of work and just fly. Fly that helicopter or jet in GTA, slay monsters in The Witcher, play with friends as we take over objectives in Overwatch, recreate Dungeons and Dragons experience with the squad in Divinity: Original Sin 2, and so on. But I've never actually thought to myself that, on a Saturday night, I should be out there somewhere partying.

So this Saturday morning, I decided to make a conscious effort to socialise and build connections with the people in the city. The funny thing is, I already know a lot of people through various ways, without even having left my house to actively meet them. The online reach I enjoy is incredible and I love that fact. I'm much closer to friends online than I am to people I know in my immediate area, and more than once that has gotten the job done.

But not tonight. Tonight, this boy parties, tonight this boy socialises and tonight this climbs out of his shell.
"}]
Confusion about the next step to be taken is quite common for students like us who are about to finish their graduation. This perplexity is more prominent among the final and pre-final year engineering students because of the multiple paths that we have in front of us. Say, higher education, employment, entrepreneurship and much more.. but are unable to select the one that is most suitable for our skills and capability. Held up with this dilemma we fail to focus on the skills and sometimes the very basic things that are needed to hit our goals. Unfortunately, having pursued the most significant professional course, we end up doing some odd jobs which are degrading the prestige and value that ENGINEERING has got!

The reason behind all this is lack of current market awareness, sense of practicality and the most important, out of the box thinking! in present-day engineers. WHERE DOES THE ACTUAL FAULT Exist? Clearly, it is not in the students completely! It is the conventional educational curriculum which is not allowing us to think beyond the pages of textbooks.. because of which we do not notice the immense strength and potential within us and try to gain it from every other place. To overcome the confusion about career we often spend a lot of money and time in attending "GOALKEEPING" workshops and career based counselling which may help us to some extent but the ultimate key to all the questions popping in our mind is in our way perceiving the circumstances around us. We just have to make an attempt at finding the hidden solution within us by introspecting our self and voicing out our opinion with our fellow mates which leads to a cumulative research work and better analysis of the scope that is available to us.

Believing that sharing of knowledge expands our thought process and experience empowers us to take the right decisions, ACM-W Stanley student chapter came forward for organizing a STUDENT CAREER CONCLAVE aiming at bringing students from different disciplines on a common platform for discussing the opportunities at every level in a formal atmosphere. As planned, the conference took place in our college on 18th September successfully.Participants were welcomed with a formal gesture of Drum rolls to the auditorium. Each participant represented a company (ex-Google,Microsoft..etc)and did complete justice to their role of impersonating the CEO of the company assigned to them,by neatly explaining about their company's motto, recruitment process, eligibility criteria, work atmosphere, benefits that they give to employees and their future initiatives with the help of a presentation for deeper impact.

Now, here comes the real thrill! Every participant had to face a question/answer session wherein other participants and audience could shoot questions about few controversial or unclear matters mentioned, which had to be answered by the concerned representative of the company. There were about 50 companies (from various sectors), 2 Banks and 4 higher education options that were shortlisted for the conference. Each one of them has done a remarkable individual research work prior to the conference and an equally appreciable exchange of knowledge on the day of the conference! With his students came to know about many new opportunities and scope available to them, of which they had not even given a thought earlier. At one point or another in our life, we will have to confront a situation where we have to face a sea of faces in front of us, addressing them on an issue, the nature of which will depend on the path you'll choose in your life.

Whether it is an investor meeting when you're an entrepreneur, to presenting a product or giving a technical presentation to follow team members, stage fear can come at you at the strangest of times catching you off-guard which severely affects your performance, and this is unacceptable.

It is my firm belief that we were made to lead and that all of us are leaders in our own right, the only drawback being we need to know how to channel that inner leadership within us and lead other people forward. To be a leader, however, you have to overcome your fear of a lot of things, public speaking, taking responsibility, standing up for what is right, to name a few. So today, here are a few tips on how to overcome stage fright and smile directly in the face of destiny.

1. Recognise your value:

A lot of people are, naturally, afraid of what people might think of them if they took to the stage and started speaking, but there is a fundamental flaw with this issue. When you're walking to the stage, instead of being worried about how many people are out there, internalise the fact that all these people want to hear you speak. They're there for a purpose and that purpose might be to hear you or people like you speak on stage, which they will unless you dance around with your pants on your head. You are valuable, your contribution to the crowd even more so. Recognise your value, there's nothing wrong in being a little of a narcissist from time to time.

(Just don't be the same kind of narcissist as the guy below)

2. Understand that there's no reason to think things will go wrong:

Things have a fickle nature, they could either go right or wrong, but that doesn't mean you wall yourself in a prison of your own making where the walls are your negative thoughts! Don't keep telling yourself than things will go wrong. Instead, tell yourself that things will go alright. When you are convinced that things will go wrong, what is the harm in thinking everything will be alright? Take this bull by the horns, climb that stage with a positive attitude!

3. Prepare:

As is the case with anything in life, preparation can do wonders. If you're on your way to deliver a presentation or a speech, it always -and I cannot emphasis this enough- always helps to have prepared in advance. Stand in front of a mirror and read out the speech while maintaining eye-contact with yourself. More often than not, the words you've written can be hard to say with your own voice. Make sure your speech is easy for you first. You don't really have to impress anyone except yourself when you're on the stage.

4. The audience is your friend:

There's nobody in the audience out to get you, you do not need to be afraid of them at all. Instead, treat your audience as your friends and smile at them. Align your body language to reflect openness and confidence. Make eye contact, greet a few people in the crowd who are relevant to the speech or someone you have to highlight for their contributions. Put the audience at ease and the rest is easy.

5. It is okay to make mistakes:

The ability to make mistakes and learn from them is unique to human beings, which is what makes us so special on this pale blue dot. Recognise that you are, at the end of the day, only human, and humans tend to make mistakes and accept them, acknowledge and even laugh at them before improving. Accepting mistakes will make you instantly likeable as well, as it can relate very well to your crowd.

Who said women can’t be billionaires?

A women with no background, without any influence, can become an influential person. These aren’t just statements, these are facts. Yes, a lady has turned those simple statements into facts. She has proved that to be successful there is no barrier for any gender, any religion or any other thing.

A child was named Orpah but people mispronounced it regularly and ‘oprah’ stuck. Now she is well known as Oprah Winfrey (African-American). She was born to an unmarried teenage mother who was a housemaid. She spent her maximum of life in rural poverty. She used to wear dresses made of potato sacks for which local children made fun of her. She stayed with her grandmother.

She with many struggles completed her study and her first job as a teenager was working at a local grocery store. At the age of 17, she won the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant. She also attracted the attention of the local black radio station, WVOL, which hired her to do the news part-time.She worked there during her senior year of high school, and again while in her first two years of college. Winfrey's career choice in media would not have surprised her grandmother, who once said that ever since Winfrey could talk, she was on stage. As a child, she played games interviewing her corncob doll and the crows on the fence of her family's property. Winfrey later acknowledged her grandmother's influence, saying it was Hattie Mae who had encouraged her to speak in public and "gave me a positive sense of myself".

She was the first youngest new anchor. She was then recruited to join as co-host of WJZ's local talk show People Are Talking, which premiered on August 14, 1978. When she started to host the show, it started to hit the highest ratings and became a popular show. She has done many celebrity interviews, acted in movies, produced movies, published many books and then started her own TV show which became a popular high rated show.

She debated on many issues. She helped much needy. After all these she not only became rich but also became popular. She was the first black women to be a billionaire. In this article, I just gave a brief information about this great personality because hardly few people can recognise her. she is such an inspiration for women. She has changed many people’s thought process.

Such is her influence today, that during The Presidential Elections in 2008, just one endorsement from her garnered Senator Barack Obama over 1 million votes, playing a crucial role in making him the first African American President of the United States. Now that is power!

I personally got inspired by her. This is her biography. Am gonna come back with more of Oprah Winfrey in this week, which is really so inspiring so, stay tuned.
"}]
It was like any other day in the month of August, till you see an email popup notification of your smart phone. Congratulations was the subject. I was too excited to open it to see that. Got selected for Survive and Thrive bootcamp. Didn't believe it till a second, then reread the whole mail again. WoW was the word..

The India Network team reiterated the same over a call adding to my excitement..Things happened in a quick manner..in a week I was traveling to New York..My first international trip.

I was like any other regular small town boy from outskirts of Hyderabad. Most common dream in a South Indian middle class household would be to do an engineering course to SETTLE in life. I was not an exception. Later joined Infosys, but my calling was different as I was not happy. I thought that I should do something in the Indian Students community as always felt there are many like me. That's how Stumagz happened in the year 2015. Stumagz is a student discovery platform in 280+ colleges serving more than 1.5 lakh Students in India.

Opportunity:

Once we grabbed the opportunity, I started understanding the American University System so that we can expand globally. We traveled in a group from Mumbai with Rahul Narvekar, Nishant, Akshat and Aeroshil. Got to know it was a diverse group when I met these folks. We shared about our ideas and everyone was super charged for the whole bootcamp.

Landing in USA, the first stop was Manhattan Times Square a dream for many to be there and walk in those by lanes. the other group of entrepreneurs joined from Delhi and we understood the curation listening to all those brilliant ideas.

1505961556919
txt

It was one of its kind experience which was combining both formal and informal events in a right mix. Sachin, Marva and team were so kind to receive us and we had a great time listening to Jesse itzler, who taught always to stretch limits.

Often, in movies which are not made to stroke the male lead's ego, the villain's motivation are often varied and layered. Sometimes, a villain is a person who has taken to crime or evil to save the one they think matter to them the most (for example, Mr. Freeze in Batman) or for the 'greater good' of their people.

Here's the thing though, is the greater good of someone a good enough reason to trample over someone else. Is it really important to achieve results that you go as far as to crush everyone else under your heel?

This is why so many stories are obsessed with the 'means and ends' trope. Stories usually present to us a question of morality using bits and pieces of protagonists, antagonists and storytelling to get the point across. An antagonist is just trying to save his daughter, but in doing so, he has killed thousands of daughters himself. Would that excuse him from all the horrible things he has done?

Similarly, it is important for us to recognise that our own actions can often mirror the choices a fictional character makes. Sure, you can tell yourself that you're doing something for the greater good, but the choice you make might harm someone.

The great good argument fails simply because why do you get to decide who benefits from the greater good. The persons you've been busy trampling can also be a part of that greater good, so why aren't they? Just because you willed it so? Who made you god?

This is why I love comic books and stories so much. I highly recommend people read The Watchmen.
"}]

I remember, just about ten days before on Sept 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has addressed a students convention and has started off his speech by a critical sentence "I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religious and all nations of the earth."

But unfortunately, that was not reflected in the government's affidavit on the Rohingya refugees presented to the Supreme court on Monday. Instead, it views them as “a very serious threat and potential threat to national security”. It claims “many of the Rohingyas figure in the suspected sinister designs of ISI/ISIS and other extremist groups”. It accuses them of “mobilization of funds through hundi/hawala channels”. Finally, it adds there’s a “serious potential and possibility” of Rohingya violence against Buddhists in India.

Yet these are all simply broad and generalised assertions. So far the government has not submitted any evidence to support them. In fact, there’s good reason to disregard or even dismiss these fears.

Firstly, it’s true that the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army has connections with Hafiz Saeed and al-Qaeda, but it doesn't mean that all Rohingyas are terrorists. For suppose, the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed and now, perhaps, al-Qaeda and the Islamic State conduct operations in Kashmir and many have links with them, this argument should lead to the government viewing all Kashmiris as terrorists! Then why it is not happening?

Second, the claim that the Rohingya are carrying out hawala transactions is nothing but rubbish. If they had the money for hawala transactions they would surely spend it on improving their miserable lives. You only have to look at the conditions in which they live to realise how unlikely is this charge.

Third, the claim that the Rohingya will indulge in violence against Buddhists in India is simply bizarre. You could just as well say that Hindu refugees fleeing Pakistan and Bangladesh could be a threat to Indian Muslims.

I think, the government is just dredging up whatever fear it can to demonise the Rohingya in the eyes of the Supreme Court.

As per a senior journalist, "The government’s affidavit is clearly an attempt to get around India’s international law commitments and its own constitutional provisions, both of which require the grant of sanctuary to the Rohingya. That now depends on whether the Supreme Court is intimidated by the government’s lengthy affidavit or has the strength to stand up for the principles of our Constitution and international law."

No doubt India is not a signatory to the 1951 UN Convention on Refugees or its 1967 Protocol, but we are still bound by the many conventions on human rights we have signed. These include the UN principle of non-refoulement, which explicitly forbids the forcible return of refugees. More importantly, the Supreme Court has ruled that the right to life and personal liberty under Article 21 applies to all people in India, irrespective of citizenship which includes the Rohingya refugees also.

I think the Govt must overlook at every aspect before taking any decisions and now it's the Supreme court's decision whether to allow Rohingyas refugees to stay in our country or not...

Since the moment I've begun grasping moments, throughout my childhood, teenage span, and my maturity stage, I have been constantly reminded of our country's major steps towards development. Now, I am 21, yes it has undergone a massive level of change and development from yesterday. And in today's world, Women empowerment has become the buzzword today with women working alongside men in all spheres.

But do we actually realize that there are many who still have struggled with the education of a girl child? The only question I would raise for them is “ WHY TO LOOK FOR A LADY DOCTOR FOR YOUR DAUGHTER OR YOUR WIFE WHEN YOU CAN'T MAKE THEM ONE?”Just a raise of voice or an argument for women rights, and BOOM! Uts took as a direct offence against men. Then my question would be “WHY DO U REFUSE TO MARRY A DUMB GIRL?”

There are many people still in process & hopes of owning a Tv set, Sofa, Fridge etc. Why? Because they are awaiting their son to grow old and get married. So they can indulge in the festive of receiving dowry. So this is how we're literates hah? Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and chief executive of Facebook, announced that he and his wife would give 99 percent of their Facebook shares, currently worth more than $45 billion — to charitable purposes.

The pledge was made in an open letter to their new-born daughter, Max, who is born only recently, and here, Dowry deprives a father of luxury clothes in his very own daughter's wedding! A very different culture our country has- though the gaze of men ain't in control, a lady is asked to wear ghunghat (veil). For a time let us forget about all the sisters and daughters, some people have the tendency to even forget their mothers for their selfishness. Not even mentioning the all-known facts on the sacrifices of a mother.

I would not mind telling this to those who don’t even care about the meaning of a MOTHER, one day after everyone is done with the dinner try searching food for yourself in the kitchen, there my friend, u will understand what a mother is!

Let us try changing this culture of women and make every son, every father to accept a baby girl in their lives with a smile.WOMEN ARE FOOLISH THAT THEY THINK THEY ARE EQUAL TO MEN BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN FAR SUPERIOR To MEN AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN.
"}]
