Then after reading this you might think twice to get into an IIT, unless and until if you have a rich dad! <\/p>The Annual fees for undergraduate courses in IIT's  will be hiked from existing 90,000 to 2 Lakhs from the upcoming sessions.<\/p>However, there is a  fee waiver for SCs and STs, the differently-abled and those belonging to economically weaker sections.\n<\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1460023510233","data":"570630ee4f5bf"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1460023083594","data":"The decision of hike has taken by the HRD minister along with the IIT panel.<\/p>The Ministry has decided to hike the fees for undergraduate courses in IITs from existing Rs 90,000 to Rs two lakh, they said.<\/p>Students belonging to families whose annual income is less than Rs 1 lakh will be able to avail 100% fee waiver, along with those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and the differently-abled. <\/p>Last month the Standing Committee of IIT Council (SCIC) had approved a three-fold hike in annual fees. <\/p>Students whose family income is less than Rs. 5 lakh per annum will also get a waiver of two-third of the fee, sources said. <\/p>The Standing Committee of the IIT Council (SCIC) had recently approved a threefold increase in fees for undergraduate programmes at IITs from Rs. 90000 per annum to Rs. 3 lakh, and sent the same for approval to the MHRD. <\/p>However, instead of Rs. 3 lakh, a hike of 120 percent has been implemented which will come in effect from the coming academic session <\/p>"}]
