Having secured 92% in my tenth, 90% in my Intermediate and 74% with distinction in my Engineering, I can say I was always good at studies despite being actively involved in various things in college. It started right when I was in school and being the son of a teacher, I can probably say I had a slight advantage as my father knew what the right way to study was and he taught me and later I developed my own techniques to study. With exams right around the corner, I felt this week's blog better be on how I got good grades, hoping that it'll enable students on how to secure a good percentage in the upcoming exams.

1: Presentation matters:

No matter how well versed you are with the subject and the concepts involved, presentation also matters considering the amount of time the examiner spends on each candidate's paper. It is important to convey the right answer using the right keywords and if possible, underline them. A presentable handwriting is an added advantage.

2: Bullet points:

I had a habit of taking down notes in bullet points covering the concepts while studying so revising became easy. This was very useful right before the exam as I could quickly gloss over all the points instead of reading the answers again and again. You can either follow this or develop your own method to do the same.

3: Right company:

Having the right company also matters a lot when it comes to acing the exams. Figure out who among your friends is good at which topic and learn from them if possible. Also, if someone is weak in some topic and you are, make sure you teach them because as you teach them, you'll look at it in a different perspective and also grasp it in a better manner.

4: Prioritise topics:

It is imperative to understand which topics are most likely to be asked about in the exam and an easy way to do this is to analyse previous years' question papers. That way, you can prioritise which topics need more attention and you can manage your time well this way. Also, if you are weak at any topic, this way you can plan and learn it in a strategic manner to ensure you don't put any important topics away for the last minute.

5: Stick to your guns:

Focus on what you are really good at and use those topics to your strength.

All the best! Go rock the exams!
"}]
Now that it is almost the end of semester, before you guys throw yourself at study material and whine about everything in life, here's a timeline recap of 2019's Vignan and reasons why it is a memorable year for Vignan:

E-talks

The Entrepreneurial talks held on 15th of April have taught us that Entrepreneurship is much more than the word we have learnt from the film English Vinglish. Roll Rida went beyond our expectations and shared relevant information with the students, followed by an inspiring talk by our very own college's Entrepreneur, Sathyadev.

IT branch

Because of the huge octagonal building Vignan is, nobody really noticed there wasn't an IT branch until this year, when it got a permission to be a part of Vignan. Hello peeps..!I guess everybody is busy in their exam preperations and the final years are pretty busy with the placement drives going on in the campuses.Let me tell you a story that actually happend with one of my friends, she got placed into a company just because of her skills in one particular subject which is DBMS(database management systems)...BOOM..! yea,but its very true i'm not even kidding .she cleared the first two basic rounds and then it was "technical interview round" and she got terrified because she was just an average studying student with a little knowledge of java and c but really good at DBMS.When the interviewer asked her about her programming skills she clearly stated the same and she was questioned with the same and now she got placed into a company just because of her DBMS skills.Trust me guys DBMS is one such subject which is not only intresting but also important .I would really really really recommend you second year students to pay more attention to the subject and trusrt me guys it’s a really interesting subject if you start getting involved you’ll definetly love it .
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF THE TIME?
Well.!the first tip from my side is don’t ever try to finish the whole unit when you are running out of the time ,instead study half part of the unit perfectly. If the unit is really lengthy finish off the half part or if it’s a small unit then finish off the major part but make sure that you are perfect with what ever you are studying. The second tip is ,as this is a very important subject in the future also try exploring how to write different queries even if you don't have them in the syllabus and you can have fun writing different queries and trying them out.An ideal DBMS questions paper is never complete with out an essay question based on this queries topic so you have high probabilities of scoring full marks in this topic.
LIST OF IMPORTANT TOPICS
Levels of Abstraction in a DBMS, Structure of a DBMS, ER Diagrams, Entities, Attributes, and Entity Sets, Relationships and Relationship,Introduction to views, destroying/altering tables and views, Relational Algebra, Tuple relational Calculus, Domain relational calculus,Different sql queries, triggers, problmes caused by redundency, decompositions, normal forms,Transaction Concept, Implementation of Atomicity and Durability,Concurrent Executions, Serializability, Lock Based Protocols, Timestamp Based Protocols, Validation- Based Protocols, Multiple Granularity, data on External Storage, File Organization and Indexing, Cluster Indexes, Primary and Secondary Indexes, Index data Structures, Hash Based Indexing, Tree base Indexing, Comparison of File Organizations, B+ Trees: A Dynamic Index Structure.

txt

Ever since I can remember I fancied the subject English maybe because that's the language that I communicate in at home 24/7😅. The subject English, for me, is like one single thread that joins and brings different people all over the world together. it allows us to communicate effectively and pass information to anyone who understands the language, and in the generation that we are in now, the subject is given utmost importance.

My love for the subject caused me to start focusing and concentrating in class. I started listening to every word the teacher would say about the lessons, poems and also grammar and I was in awe at the amount of information I was missing by not paying attention before. The first key I would say in order for anyone looking to ace an exam is:

1: Fall in love with the subject.

2: Concentrate in class listen to what the teacher has to say and let me tell you when you listen to your automatically going to feel half prepared for your exam just by listening.

3: Never rush with your answers take your time think how much more information with good vocabulary that you can put.

4: The criteria that an examiner looks for in any paper is the student's knowledge about the subject and this doesn't just have to be textbook knowledge.

So I would encourage everyone to read more about the subject, watch videos, and all this will help you master your favorite subject.

5:Always take time to understand the depth of any subject before trying to learn.

6:Never keep a bunch of new topics to try and mug up right before the exam but instead learn little by little every day so that the burden of covering up major topics is reduced before the exam.

7:This tip we hear from all our teachers but at times find it difficult to practice and that is never feel shy to ask questions. If you have any questions regarding the topic, you have the right to get it answered

All this continues to help me perform well and I guarantee this will help you.
"}]
That students are among the biggest change-makers of the world has been demonstrated world over again and again and now, students from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Odisha, are testimony to that again. As Yashraj Panda, a third-year Production Engineering student from VSSUT says, "We are building a rocket to launch a satellite into space and the satellite will help identifying any cracks in the 66-year-old Hirakud Dam." With this one statement, Yashraj made it clear about the impact that they are making.

What is this Hirakud Dam? For those who haven't studied social studies in school beyond clearing the exam, Hirakud Dam is India's largest dam and is also the fourth largest dam in the world. Built on the Mahanadi river, its 743 sq.km. lake irrigates an area of 2,355 sq.km and the dam also has an installed capacity of generating 347.5 Megawatts of electricity. VSSUT was established with an aim of providing engineers to maintain the dam and is one of the top universities in Odisha.

These students, who are members of the Idea Innovation Cell of the university, have been involved in this project for a couple of years now, after Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya of the university initiated the project. The satellite, which they are currently working on, will be launched by their own rocket which they have named VSSUT Satellite Launch Vehicle (VSLV), which they have been working on since the beginning of the project.

"We have been making and launching various models of the rocket with increasing altitudes since 2017. The first launch, which we call VSLV 1, was done on August 22, 2017 and it reached an altitude of 800 metres. After we did the first launched, we started getting recognised and we received funding and support. Since then, we have had 4 more launches with the VSLV 3.1 reaching 3.93 km, which is the highest altitude among all these. We aim to reach an altitude of 36 kilometres and at this altitude, the satellite will orbit the earth partially and scan the dam," explains Yashraj.

The 60-strong team is a blend of students from various branches of engineering, each contributing their own expertise into various aspects necessary for the project. In fact, their efforts haven't gone unnoticed as they have been recognised by NASA, Mann ki Baat and by Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

They have also been recognised by ISRO and the Indian Space Research Organisation has also decided to support and fund this project, having established an innovation centre in VSSUT. "We are planning on a few more launches with increasing altitudes till we reach the target, as we now have ISRO's support in addition to the extensive support given by our college," explains Yash, adding, "Hopefully, we will launch the satellite by 2022."

One interesting point about these students are how they manage to keep the ball rolling, despite the project taking several years, as students involved in it would obviously graduate and leave college. "Everything we have done, is properly documented. So if a new student joins the team, he/she will know everything that they have to to take it ahead even if we graduate and are not involved directly in the project. Besides, we will continue to mentor them, the way Bodhisattwa continues to mentor us," shares Yashraj.
"}]
Here we go again, How many times have we been bragging about this language? Yeah, who cares. Personally my experiences with C Programming were not that good. I failed the internal exam in the first semester itself, here I am 2 years later, I Nailed the Zensar EDP program conducted in my college, Started a Google Developers Club and Cracked multiple hacker rank competitions, how did i managed to achieve this feat? You will find out. This article is written for those people who dream of cracking TCS Aspire, TCS code vita, Infosys HackWithInfy, Zensar campus EDP program or for the most the semester exams yeah I got that covered. So lets start with the basic difference between those top-class IT companies and the semester exams, we there isn’t. The same concepts that you apply in writing the code for the semester exam work for many Interview mock tests, that said let us now concentrate on nailing your exam.

First things first, If you don’t know anything about c, I recommend you to take a crash course on the following topics:

1. Fundamentals

2. Functions

3. Pointers

4. Structures

5. Libraries

You can learn them by watching tutorials on Youtube by Bucky Roberts or any other Youtuber will do, Doing a course in udemy, udacity etc. If you feel confident on the above mentioned topics then kudos, you’ve made it through the most important and the difficult part in the language.

Second things Second, C is a practical language, the more you practice the more you enjoy it, by now you have enough knowledge to nail your semester exam like a pro, after you have that basic idea on everything you can leap to test your knowledge, here are some of the top tested websites which helped me practice C effectively:

1. Hacker Rank – has a lot of coding contest and informative videos

2. Code Chef – is one of the best competitive websites.

Why Practise? Did you know you can Create around 50+ games only using c? yeah that includes Snake, Egg game, Tetris and Tic tac toe. C is an evergreen language and the concepts of c are the same in any other language. So keep practising so you can fully understand the power and flexibility of the language. Hope the guide helps you as it helped me. Please free to contact me in the comment section if you have any doubts regarding the subject, I will try to help you as soon as possible. With all that said, All the Best Folks!!
"}]
Exams preparation for students can be ranging from very normal to infuriating and even terrifying in few cases. If you are among the ones who face pressure during exam times, let me help you break it down and make it simple for you. Personally, I believe there are multiple reasons for not doing well in exams.

• Worrying you might fail or wanting to do really well: Don't be too hard on yourself. Messing up your brain with too much unnecessary processing, for sure you'll start panicking. Sometimes, you have to let things run their course and try to be in present.

• Lack of preparation time or when you aren't prepared: Trust me this is one of the most effective things to do when we have minimal time, take out your syllabus copy and start making a timetable according to your convenience. Always start with easy topics as they help build confidence. Setting realistic goals is really important, there is nothing wrong in pushing our limits but when we don't have time for preparation just knowing where we stand helps a lot.

• Do not call your friends and keep asking them how much did they finish, just mind your own and stick to your timetable.

• Lack of self-motivation: Procrastinating during high time will get you nowhere. Now I know everyone studies using phones and laptops but having control is entirely different aspect during exams. Switch off notifications or better stay away from social media for a while.

• When it becomes hard to understand topics, just ask your friends to revise together, most of the times we understand topics better when a friend explains than a professor. Also, remember not to interfere with schedule of your friends'.

• It's better to avoid stressed out people, as there might be a chance of rubbing it onto ourselves.

• Being healthy is very important during these times, a good night's sleep and happy tummy will help concentrate more and remember well. Occasional breaks will help breaking the monotony of boringness from studying continuously.

• If you are a JNTU affiliated college's student, remember to write a lot... no kidding fill up the papers with whatever you know about the subject.

BREATHE AND BREATHE! Concentrate on your breath; this will surely help your nerves cool down when you're anxious. Everything is going to be alright.

Finally, grades and marks will not determine rest of our lives. Most of us know our education system is in such a way that getting a degree will land us on jobs, which of course needs passing examinations with required GPA. So, just take a chill-pill and go on with your prep.

All the best of luck for your exams, hope you'll do well.

"}]
Long long ago, when I was a student, the smartest phone we had and could afford was a Windows 5.1/Blackberry phone and there was hardly anything we, as students, could do with it apart from playing games and showing it off to the lesser mortals who had a basic phone. Now, you're most likely reading this on your high-tech smartphone with RAM that puts my first computer to shame and a processor that makes my second computer want to kill itself.

I just came to know that exams are around the corner and as someone who extensively uses his smartphone to get half of his work done, I wanted to see if students can use their smartphones beyond the narcissistic worlds of TikTok and Instagram and the blood-thirsty worlds of PUBG and more and actually put it to some good use, to ace the exams and to justify the dent their phones caused on their parents' bank account.

Yes, you read that right, use your smartphone to help you ace your exams by enabling you to study better. And yes, I do probably sound patronising to you at this moment but hey, I spent the last one hour trying to figure out ways in which this can be made possible so just scroll down and read. If you already know these, GOOD, follow these! If you don't know these, good, follow these and get good grades!

First of all, don’t be tensed. Because your intelligence is not going to be judged by your marks. Your marks act as a gate pass for jobs and higher education. So to obtain above passable marks follow these tips

1. Collect the blueprint of the syllabus. Start with the chapter which has higher weight age. Don’t believe in important questions concept, sometimes at the last minute, they are going to give a big hand. Cover each topic. Because during the examination if you know the related topic you can anyhow manage to write.

2. Follow YouTube, online learning websites like tutorials point they could help you in understanding to topics much better If you are like me whose brain works all the time except during examination these tips might help you

3. Create your mnemonics to revise important points (like portability, understandability, testability as “put”)

4.
