The sound of drums filled the room but I couldn't find any instrument on the stage and all of a sudden I just see a man standing on the stage. It was Jayanth, a 20-year student from my college, who is a beatboxer.

Beatboxing, often called as the fifth element of hip hop, is a form of music where the musician makes sounds without using any instrument. Jayanth Nag started beatboxing at the age of 14 after he was captivated by a beatboxer's performance.

"The sounds which we hear from musical instruments can be done on beatboxing too. That fascinated me the most and the uniqueness of beatboxing is what made me learn it in the first place," says Jayanth, who initially started off by posting videos on the internet, adding, "Based on the response that I got to my videos, I started performing."

Having performed several times in various colleges like St. Francis, St Joseph, OU, SNIST and many more, Jayanth also has the accolade of being the judge of a beatboxing competition at St. Francis in 2018.

1. Pink Floyd - The Wall

I would be sorely remiss if I didn't include this iconic album on the list. It's a raw, gritty album that takes on authority and individuality. The famous song 'Another Brick in the Wall' that goes 'We don't need no education, we don't need no thought control...' belongs to this album. All students go through this phase of rebellion in which they question authority and listen to Pink Floyd; it's a natural part of growing up.

2. Radical Face - The Family Tree

Radical Face arranged their music in a massive project that spanned three albums- The Family Tree: The Roots, The Branches and The Leaves. It chronicles the tales of a family, the highs and lows, the affection, the bad blood... It is truly a masterpiece. The soothing vocals in conjunction with the innovative use of acoustic instruments gives it all an unearthly flavour. The idea that family and ancestry is so deeply rooted into your identity is something that a lot of us will appreciate. Their other albums, Ghost and The Junkyard Chandelier are also well worth listening to.

3. Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction

One of the most recognized albums of all time, it manages to capture the essence of rock and roll in all its glorious beauty. Students will particularly identify with its themes of tortured love and helpless ambition. It had great guitar solos, raw vocals, soulful tangents, earth shaking percussion and piercing lyrics. What more do we need? This Indian band consisting of four members makes refreshing music that incorporates Indian elements into rock. There have been a lot of things going on globally, ranging from massive protests and movements to internal crises to algorithms potentially affecting politics. Here's a look at some of those things that every student needs to know about.

1. CRISIS IN SUDAN:

In December 2018, the Sudanese people started facing an economic crisis with thrice the increase in food prices. This initiated a wave of protest all over the country for the resignation of President Omar Al-Bashir. A few months later, he was removed from his power and arrested.

After this, the capital Khartoum was filled with bloodshed. On June 3, 2019 a total of 188 people are said to be killed since the military opened fire at protesters with rapid support forces taking lead in violence.

The activists claimed that hospitals and schools have been attacked and the bodies were dumped into the river Nile.

One of the first victims, Mohamed Mattar who is a 26-year-old engineer was shot down when he was trying to protect two women from the attack. As blue was his favourite colour, the social media users turned their Twitter and Instagram profiles into blue to honor his memory.

By using the hashtag #BlueForSudan, many users have joined the movement including U.S. singers Rihanna and Demi Lovato by tweeting their statements of support with protesters.

BENGAL DOCTORS STRIKE:
A massive strike took place by doctors on June 14, 2019 in West Bengal and saw support from medical professionals nationwide, affecting the medical services across India. After almost a week of protest, they called it off after negotiations with the government.
Junior doctors at NRS medical college and hospital in Kolkata are protesting after the interns were attacked by a patient’s relatives who were brutally beaten up by goons after an 87-year-old man died as they thought that doctors are responsible for his death.
This lead to a strike across the whole nation in protesting to extend support to every member of NRS hospitals. The protestors claimed that two interns were beaten up to serious injuries in the attack on June 11, 2019. To this, the interns have protested to ensure doctors safety in the hospitals to avoid such issues as they want an intervention by the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says, “I accepted all their demands, and I also sent senior officials to them, not to arrest them or create an action by using the law of forces as they live in a democratic country."
The protest has gone for a week as the junior doctors refused to go for talks with CM. On June 17, 2019 Mamata Banerjee met the junior doctors saying, “if you are in problem, drop a letter in Kalighat. I will see the documents at home. TRADE WAR BETWEEN THE U.S. AND CHINA:
For a while, the U.S. and China's trade war is all over the news.

The U.S-China trade partnership used to be one of the most important understandings in the world. After months, this strong progress made a trade deal in increasing their taxes in both countries.
From September 24, 2018 the taxes have been pushed up from 10% to 25% on the U.S. $200 billion worth of Chinese goods when China retaliated in increasing taxes on $60 billion dollars of U.S. goods and products.

U.S. president Donald Trump says, he campaigned for the elections to make American trades fairer by fighting its oldest trading partners as China. According to him, the unfair businesses transactions of American technology and intellectual property with China needs to be stopped in order to protect jobs.

By doing this, the taxes on U.S. products could become cheaper than the imported ones. 2.

I run an office at my residence in Kalighat." She also asked the police to appoint nodal officers for the security of doctors at government hospitals.
