Confidence is a very tricky little thing. Feeling good about yourself is so easy to put at the will of others when it should only be up to you.

But what is confidence, anyway?

Often people think of confidence as something that the lucky few are born with and the rest are left wishing for. Not true. Confidence is not a fixed attribute; it’s the outcome of the thoughts we think and the actions we take. No more; no less. It is not based on your actual ability to succeed at a task but on your belief in your ability to succeed.

Of course, confidence can wax and wane throughout our lives. It’s boosted when we experience a win or receive praise. It takes a hit when our efforts fall short of the mark, we're criticized, rejected, or simply feel a lack of external recognition. We’re only human after all. It’s therefore vital not to become overly reliant on external affirmation to prop up our self-worth but to take ownership for taking the worthwhile actions needed to sustain it.

“Confidence equals security equals positive emotion equals better performance,” says Tony Schwartz

and yet he concedes that “insecurity plagues consciously or subconsciously every human being I’ve met.”

Overcoming this self-doubt starts with honestly assessing your abilities (and your shortcomings) and then getting comfortable enough to capitalize on (and correct) them, This begs the question:

How do you build the confidence needed to overcome your challenges and achieve your goals, particularly when you don’t first succeed?

Preparation

Practice does make perfect. The best way to build confidence in a given area is to invest energy in it and work hard at it

Practice can be very useful, and is highly recommended because, in addition to building confidence, it also tends to improve quality

Even people who are confident in their abilities can become more so with better preparation.

Get feedback when you need it

While you don’t want to completely rely on others’ opinions to boost your ego, validation can also be very effective in building confidence

Be sure to pick people whose feedback will be entirely truthful and will leave a positive impact on yourself.

Take risks

Playing to your strengths is a smart tactic but not if it means you hesitate to take on new challenges. Many people don’t know what they are capable of until they are truly tested.

Try things you don’t think you can do. Failure can be very useful for building confidence.

Don't Care What Others Think

There are going to be so many people who will tell you you can not accomplish what you set out to do

And you absolutely can not listen to them. You must be resolute. While they tell you the odds are against you, etc., just remember most people are wrong about most things. Despite everyone around you telling you it can't be done. If you think you can do it, you can do it. Don't listen to them, believe in yourself and keep going.

Monitor Your Progress

The best way to reach your goals, big or small, is to break them into smaller goals and monitor your progress.

Try to quantify your accomplishments

It will help you stay on course, and you will build confidence as you see the progress you're making in real-time.

While most of us are born with a healthy level of confidence, life throws us challenges that can derail our sense of confidence. However, reclaiming that self-confidence is possible and worth every effort you put in.

When you're confident in yourself, Eskandani says, "you start making decisions that are in line with what you truly want. You listen less to the well-meaning advice around you telling you what you should do, and you start doing things that you truly want to do."

On 29th October, a bright sunny Saturday morning Villa Marie college was glowing with a ceremonious shine, well decorated and propped to host its long continuous tradition of throwing a Freshers Party to welcome its most newest members with open and embracing arms. It was only during the pandemic struck years that this streak of celebrating the arrival of its youngest members was broken in view of safety and social distancing norms.

After two years, this year saw the revival of the infamous event with all the pomp and glory. No stone was left unturned to make the college premises look scintillating and welcoming. Everyone was at work to make this event a big success and something worth remembering in future.

As the ritual goes by seniors from across the streams from the college participate to welcome their juniors. This time too the program was organised with grandeur by hiring Choreographers for various dance performances , teams were made and a theme was given to each team, props were staged and costumes for the respective themes were selected. For over two weeks practice sessions were conducted after college hours and students gave their 100 percent each time to give the best performance. Finally the day came when their hard work was to be put on stage one last time.

The event started around 11 am with comperers addressing the crowd about the event and of the special segment - MISS FRESHER 2022 Contest. Meanwhile, the chief guests for the event the Founder, Director and Correspondent Dr. Philomena, and the Secretary Ms. Chinnamma were ushered by the benevolent Principal of Degree College Mrs. Revathi Devi Mathur with elegant bouquets. To judge Miss Fresher contest, two young judges were invited. The contest was conducted in a very sportive and competitive manner with several rounds to short list the final five among the 32 contestants who participated.

There were a total of 10 dance performances each with a different theme to entertain the audience. All the efforts for weeks was put to its best, the audience had a gala time watching all the performances, and encouraged them with applause. The dress code for the event was traditional wear and one glance at the crowd could tell how evidently vibrant and colorful the environment is . Everyone had a delightful smile pasted on their faces while the event progressed forward. Watching the juniors walk elegantly down the ramp with refined and exquisite manners was a total delight. All the contestants were sure -footed and confident without any display of nervousness or worry.

The Climax performance had everyone sit at the edge of their seats. All the individual teams clubbed together for the last performance which they called it as the CLIMAX . It was the most captivating performance of the event and hence rightly positioned towards the end of the show which took everyone by surprise. After the performance results of Miss Fresher was announced and the winners were applauded with flower baskets and a sash to commend their efforts. Further the dignitaries were requested to address the audience , followed by vote of thanks and handing out mementos to the event organizers, choreographers and all the support staff for lending their help in successfully culminating the event.

Post the vote of thanks, dignitaries took leave and students were requested to have Lunch before leaving for the day. As lunch was being served , simultaneously DJ was being run in the background and several of them grooved to the beats enjoying every bit of it. The event ended on a high note with feelings of nostalgia running down everyone's veins. Arambha - hail the new journey was not just a theme, it was a well - organized event that will surely remain as a memory down the memory lane for a long time.

The grand success of the majestic event made sure that the legacy and prestige that the college boasts of is carried forward with great pride and zeal for times that are to come.

Hi Guys, so today I'm writing a article which I wanted to write from a really long time. What is mental health? Why do we need to consider it? What exactly is the need for it!!

Fact: Did you know that October 10 is the World's Mental health day?!!!

txt
rich_1668528272441

Mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being, influencing cognition, perception, and behavior. It likewise determines how an individual handles stress, interpersonal relationships, and decision-making.

Mental health is a major concern worldwide and India is not far behind in sharing this. If we evaluate developments in the field of mental health, the pace appears to be slow. Dr. Brock Chisholm, the first Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), in 1954, had presciently declared that “without mental health there can be no true physical health.” More than 60 years later, the scenario has not altered substantially. About 14% of the global burden of disease is attributed to neuropsychiatric disorders. The burden of mental disorders is likely to have been underestimated because of inadequate appreciation of the inter-play between mental illness and other health disorders.[2] There remain considerable issues of priority-setting based on the burden of health problems and of addressing inequalities in relation to determinants and solutions for health problems.

txt
rich_1668528272442

Many people don't consider men's mental health and it leads to depression, suicides and many more. Even if the men's know about the mental health they don't share about it because they have this figure of responsbility /masculinity cuz of this they won't be able to share anything with their loved ones. They suffer inside and take a lot stress and start to get into the bad stuff like drugs, drinking, etc.. Even if they were able to share the things with their parents, parents sometimes don't think mental health as a real thing and let it go and the cycle starts again.

How can you avoid feeling lonely and get through it:

Get regular exercise. Just 30 minutes of walking every day can help boost your mood and improve your health. Small amounts of exercise add up, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t do 30 minutes at one time.

Eat healthy, regular meals and stay hydrated. A balanced diet and plenty of water can improve your energy and focus throughout the day. Also, limit caffeinated beverages such as soft drinks or coffee.

Make sleep a priority. Stick to a schedule, and make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Blue light from devices and screens can make it harder to fall asleep, so reduce blue light exposure from your phone or computer before bedtime.
Try a relaxing activity.

Explore relaxation or wellness programs or apps, which may incorporate meditation, muscle relaxation, or breathing exercises. Schedule regular times for these and other healthy activities you enjoy such as journaling.
Set goals and priorities. Decide what must get done now and what can wait.

Learn to say “no” to new tasks if you start to feel like you’re taking on too much. Try to be mindful of what you have accomplished at the end of the day, not what you have been unable to do.
Practice gratitude.

Remind yourself daily of things you are grateful for. Be specific. Write them down at night, or replay them in your mind.
Focus on positivity.

Identify and challenge your negative and unhelpful thoughts.
Stay connected. Reach out to your friends or family members who can provide emotional support and practical help.

txt
rich_1668528272445

I too know about this and how it feels to be alone and what it does to person mentally and physically. So I ask you guys to take care of yourself. Talk with your friends, siblings tell them what you're feeling and how it feels. Explain it to them and the first is to talk about it.
