[{"data":" \nA  SPOONERISM is defined as an interchange of  initial sounds of two words spoken at a time. SPOONERISMS are commonly heard as slips of tounge but are also intentionally used as play words. They are also said to be verbal errors in English language. Some of the well known SPOONERISMS claimed to have been heard are, \nGo shake a tower,  for Go take a shower. \nMardon me Padom,  for Pardon me madam. \nBlushing  crow, for Crushing blow. \nRunny babbit,  for Bunny rabbit. \nFunny aren’t they?<\/p>\nThe term Spoonerism gets its name from the Rev.William Archibald Spooner, who was an Anglican clergyman and Warden of New college of Oxford University. He was an absent minded man who suffered from a speech defect called METATHESIS which made him to switch the initial sounds of words he uttered. He became famous for making many transpositions like this.<\/p>\nOnce he is reported to have toasted Queen Victoria with words, Three cheers to our queer old dean,for dear old Queen. \nDuring wartime,he tried to ignite his students confidence by saying, when our boys come home from France, we will have hags flung out, for Flags hung out. <\/p>\nHowever , the fact is that many of the well-known Spoonerisms said to have been uttered by Spooner were probably not uttered by him, but were made by his students and collegues. Spooner admitted himself to only one Spoonerism- Conquering kings as Kinkering kong.<\/p>\n","id":"1518451022855","type":"txt"}]
