here), and, because of this, my Windows PC still does most of the heavy lifting in my life. However, the MacBook Air fits my needs of having a lightweight, portable and smooth laptop with enough quirks to it that makes using it easier, making multi tasking effortless and simple. So, for the sake of this review, it will be divided into two sections: The Professional and The Gamer.

Before the meat of the review, let us take a look at the tech specifications of the Air. At first glance, if you are a life long PC user or a power user with enthusiast builds, the specifications will sound and look ridiculous to you, considering the price point, but there is a reason for that, which we will get to later. The 13 inch MacBook Air boasts of an i5 processor, 8GB RAM, a 256GB storage (there's a price difference between the 128GB and 256GB storage Macs, check before buying!), with two USB ports, no optical drive and comes bundled with Yosemite MacOS, with the update to Sierra now available once you start using the laptop. It also comes bundled with apple software like Pages, Keynote, iTunes, to name a few, which are more than enough for your professional needs, but the option to install Microsoft Office is also available, should you choose to buy it, ask your dealer about the MS Office bundle or tick the option on Amazon before buying.

It also has a multi touch track pad that is perhaps one of it's best features, allowing you to effortlessly swipe through screens and get work done without wasting much time. In fact, right now, I'm swiping between this screen where I'm writing the review to the next one which has Spotify running where I can change songs and swipe back to continue working, without having to go through the extra effort to scroll and click on the window I want to open. I know it sounds ridiculous, but we are so used to scrolling and clicking that we don't realise how effortless the trackpad swiping is until we actually get used to it.

That being said, let's move to the meat of the review.

The Gamer:

As a life long gamer, one that I'll continue to be in the near future for as long as I can see, the MacBook Air is not good for gaming at all. For this review, I installed Valve Corporation's Counter Strike: Global Offensive and DoTA 2 from Steam to test, and while the games run respectably well, considering the Intel HD 6000 graphics, it is prone to overheating and drains a lot of battery, which is not exactly what you want from a laptop. Keep in mind that both these games are not that graphically intensive, and while the Air gave respectable performance in the game itself, the laptop suffered, which is something you would want to avoid.

The MacBook Air does not have a retina screen, despite what rumours since as early as 2013 seemed to suggest, and while that isn't really a problem (and the fact that Dell XPS has far surpassed the retina display on even the MacBook Pro), some people might find this a negative. Personally, I don't care, the display is perfect for my needs and I have no complaints, which brings us to the final part of this section, the speakers.

The speakers are not good, there are no two ways about it. I'm not even gonna say they're just average, they simply are not good. If you are the kind of person that enjoys playing music on speakers while doing something, do not use the Air's speakers and instead prefer a pair of earphones or headphones, preferably wireless ones.

The Professional:

This is where the MacBook Air truly shines. The design of the MacBook Air has not changed for years on end, but then, why fix something that isn't broke? The laptop is lightweight, easy to carry, and for someone like me, who needs to write a lot, this is a boon. All I need is my bag, a phone with an internet connection and the Mac, and I can write from anywhere I want to write. The keyboard itself feels amazing to type on, and personally I've been finding it difficult to type on my Windows PC again after getting used to this one, although I could always get a Mechanical Keyboard for my PC and rediscover the joy of typing all over again, but that is a story for another time.

The trackpad is easily one of the best features on the MacBook, it allows for effortless swiping between screens, has a lot of shortcuts that can make your life easier, and once you get used to it, it is hard to go back to a traditional laptop. The battery life is ridiculously long, promising at least 12 hours on the 13 inch model, and it delivers! Unless I'm going out, I don't carry the Mac charger with me when I'm going to the office. On a regular day, the battery only goes down 40% from full charge even after constant use in the office. You don't even need to shut the Mac down, because of how smooth it is between closing the lid and opening it again. There are people that only shutdown their Macs once a month to clear up the RAM.

However, it is not without faults. The storage is ridiculously low, something I haven't been able to stomach. Of course, the community encourages you to use an external hard disk, which means extra expense, and like I mentioned in the Gamer section above, the speakers are bad and require a pair of earphones, with a pair of wireless headsets being the best option, and those do not come cheap.

Final Thoughts:

It is not perfect, but the MacBook Air is one of the best professional laptops you can buy. If you're a student that's going for the MBA next, if you are a coder that requires an easy to carry device to crunch the numbers and write code while hanging upside down from a tree after drinking too much coffee with redbull, if you're a designer that wants a great device to help you edit pictures, this is the laptop for you.

Sure, it is expensive, but the advantage you get in exchange of that price cannot be overstated. Even though I hold a less favourable view of Apple's other products, the MacBook Air is well worth the asking price for how much easier it makes your life. So if you are looking for a professional laptop that gets the job done, this is the one for you.

You can order your MacBook Air right now by clicking here. Do let us know what you think, if you already have a Mac, share this review with your friends and convince them to buy one, because you know they need it. It's a Mac, after all.
"}]
