Climate change is real and the evidence is all around us. While the changes to the earth’s climate are nothing new, it is apparent recent effects are having a devastating impact on countless people, places, and wildlife. If you want to know what climate change really is and why it matters, then keep reading to learn more about its causes, effects, and solutions to stop it.

Starting from what is Climate change?

Climate change happens when the earth’s climate system adjusts and displays new weather patterns that can last for as little as a few decades or up to millions of years. The climate is constantly changing, and unfortunately, this is a common argument made by people who don’t believe that climate change is something to worry about.

Climate change has occurred for as long as the earth has existed. It happens anytime earth’s climate patterns change and remain in place for a measurable amount of time. This has notably manifested itself in natural cycles of cooling and warming. Before human causes started to shift the global climate, five main factors interacted with one another as climate changes occurred.

Now that boils down to the CAUSES:

Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. Long-lived gases that remain semi-permanently in the atmosphere and do not respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature are described as "forcing" climate change. Gases, such as water vapor, which respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature, are seen as "feedbacks."

• Water vapor. The most abundant greenhouse gas, but importantly, it acts as a feedback to the climate. Water vapor increases as the Earth's atmosphere warms, but so does the possibility of clouds and precipitation, making these some of the most important feedback mechanisms to the greenhouse effect.

• Methane. A hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and human activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice cultivation, as well as ruminant digestion and manure management associated with domestic livestock. On a molecule-for-molecule basis, methane is a far more active greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, but also one which is much less abundant in the atmosphere.

• Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Synthetic compounds entirely of industrial origin used in a number of applications, but now largely regulated in production and release to the atmosphere by international agreement for their ability to contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer. They are also greenhouse gases.

• Nitrous oxide. A powerful greenhouse gas produced by soil cultivation practices, especially the use of commercial and organic fertilizers, fossil fuel combustion, nitric acid production, and biomass burning

• Carbon dioxide (CO2). A minor but very important component of the atmosphere, carbon dioxide is released through natural processes such as respiration and volcano eruptions and through human activities such as deforestation, land-use changes, and burning fossil fuels. Humans have increased atmospheric CO2 concentration by more than a third since the Industrial Revolution began. This is the most important long-lived "forcing" of climate change.

Now lets the harsh CONSEQUENCES:

• On average, Earth will become warmer. Some regions may welcome warmer temperatures, but others may not.

• Warmer conditions will probably lead to more evaporation and precipitation overall, but individual regions will vary, some becoming wetter and other dryers.

• A stronger greenhouse effect will warm the oceans and partially melt glaciers and other ice, increasing sea level. Ocean water also will expand if it warms, contributing further to sea-level rise.

• Meanwhile, some crops and other plants may respond favorably to increased atmospheric CO2, growing more vigorously and using water more efficiently. At the same time, higher temperatures and shifting climate patterns may change the areas where crops grow best and affect the makeup of the natural plant communities.

These were quite harsh so let’s have look at the SOLUTIONS:
While the effects of climate change can seem bleak, there is still hope. By taking immediate action to curb climate change, we may never see the worst consequences. Likewise, as the world adopts cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions, there may be millions of new jobs created and billions of dollars of economic benefits. Below are some practical ways you can battle climate change, including:

• Purchase Renewable Energy Certificate for your home power needs

• Make your home energy efficient

• Buy carbon offsets

• Adopt a plant-based diet

• Reduce food waste

• Recycle

• Stop using fossil fuels

• Stop deforestation

The Role of Human Activity

In its Fifth Assessment Report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of 1,300 independent scientific experts from countries all over the world under the auspices of the United Nations, concluded there's a more than 95 percent probability that human activities over the past 50 years have warmed our planet.
The industrial activities that our modern civilization depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from 280 parts per million to 412 parts per million in the last 150 years. The panel also concluded there's a better than 95 percent probability that human-produced greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide have caused much of the observed increase in Earth's temperatures over the past 50 years.

This is our Mother Earth we got to save it, we have been destroyed it enough, let us save for our future generation, Do this for wildlife. Let’s not make the Earth is the history but reality. Let us join hands together and save it little every day. Baby steps like use cloth bags instead of plastic. Let’s turn off the water while shaving/brushing. Replacing the incandescent light bulbs in your home with energy-efficient LED bulbs and also, by turning off lights and small appliances when you're not using them. Before we throw away excess food, look into food banks and charities where we can bring items we know we are not going to consume before they go bad, and give them to people in need. Most importantly Buy recycled products and then recycle them again.

The role social media plays in mental health:
Human beings are social creatures. We need the com‐ companionship of others to thrive in life, and the strength of our connections has a huge impact on our mental health and happiness. Being socially connected to others can ease stress, anxiety, and depression, boost self-worth, provide comfort and joy, prevent loneliness, and even add years to your life. On the flip side, lacking strong social connections can pose a serious risk to your mental and emotional health.
In today’s world, many of us rely on social media plat‐ forms such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, and Instagram to find and connect with each other. While each has its benefits, it’s important to remember that social media can never be a replacement for real-world human connection. It requires in-person contact with others to trigger the hormones that alleviate stress and make you feel happier, healthier, and more positive. Ironically for a technology that’s designed to bring people closer together, spending too much time engaging with social media can actually make you feel more lonely and isolated—and exacerbate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
If you’re spending an excessive amount of time on social media and feelings of sadness, dissatisfaction,
frustration or loneliness are impacting your life, it may be time to re-examine your online habits and find a healthier balance.
The positive aspects of social media
While virtual interaction on social media doesn’t have the same psychological benefits as face-to-face contact, there are still many positive ways in which it can help you stay connected and support your wellbeing.
Social media enables you to:
Communicate and stay up to date with family and friends around the world.
Find new friends and communities; network with other people who share similar interests or ambitions.
Join or promote worthwhile causes; raise awareness on important issues.
Seek or offer emotional support during tough times.
Find a vital social connection if you live in a remote area, for example, or have limited independence, social anxiety, or are part of a marginalized group.
Find an outlet for your creativity and self-expression.
Discover (with care) sources of valuable information and learning.
The negative aspects of social media
Since it’s a relatively new technology, there’s little research to establish the long-term consequences, good or bad, of social media use. However, multiple studies have found a strong link between heavy social media and an increased risk for depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-harm, and even suicidal thoughts.
Social media may promote negative experiences such as:
Inadequacy about your life or appearance. Even if you know that images you’re viewing on social media are manipulated, they can still make you feel insecure about how you look or what’s going on in your own life. Similarly, we’re all aware that other people tend to share just the highlights of their lives, rarely the low points that everyone experiences. But that doesn’t lessen those feelings of envy and dissatisfaction when you’re scrolling through a friend’s airbrushed photos of their tropical beach holiday or reading about their exciting new promotion at work.
Fear of missing out (FOMO). While FOMO has been around far longer than social media, sites such as Facebook and Instagram seem to exacerbate feelings that others are having more fun or living better lives than you are. The idea that you’re missing out on certain things can impact your self-esteem, trigger anxiety, and fuel even greater social media use. FOMO can compel you to pick up your phone every few minutes to check for updates, or compulsively respond to each and every alert—even if that means taking risks while you’re driving, missing out on sleep at night, or prioritizing social media interaction over real-world relationships.
Isolation. A study at the University of Pennsylvania found that high usage of Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram increases rather decreases feelings of loneliness. Conversely, the study found that reducing social media usage can actually make you feel less lonely and isolated and improve your overall wellbeing.
Depression and anxiety. Human beings need face-to-face contact to be mentally healthy. Nothing reduces stress and boosts your mood faster or more effectively than eye-to-eye contact with someone who cares about you. The more you prioritize social media interaction over in-person relationships, the more you’re at risk for developing or exacerbating mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.
Signs that social media is impacting your mental health
Everyone is different and there is no specific amount of time spent on social media, or the frequency you check for updates or the number of posts you make that indicates your use is becoming unhealthy. Rather, it has to do with the impact time spent on social media has on your mood and other aspects of your life, along with your motivations for using it.
For example, your social media use may be problematic if it causes you to neglect face-to-face relationships, distracts you from work or school, or leaves you feeling envious, angry, or depressed. Similarly, if you’re motivated to use social media just because you’re bored or lonely, or want to post something to make others jealous or upset, it may be time to reassess your social media habits.
Indicators that social media may be adversely affecting your mental health include:
Spending more time on social media than with real-world friends. Using social media has become a substitute for a lot of your offline social interaction. Even if you’re out with friends, you still feel the need to constantly check social media, often driven by feelings that others may be having more fun than you.
Comparing yourself unfavorably with others on social media. You have low self-esteem or negative body image. You may even have patterns of disordered eating.
Experiencing cyberbullying. Or you worry that you have no control over the things people post about you.
Being distracted at school or work. You feel pressure to post regular content about yourself, get comments or likes on your posts, or respond quickly and enthusiastically to friends’ posts.
Having no time for self-reflection. Every spare moment is filled by engaging with social media, leaving you little or no time for reflecting on who you are, what you think, or why you act the way that you do—the things that allow you to grow as a person.
Engaging in risky behavior in order to gain likes, shares, or positive reactions on social media. You play dangerous pranks, post embarrassing material, cyberbully others, or access your phone while driving or in other unsafe situations.
Suffering from sleep problems. Do you check social media last thing at night, first thing in the morning, or even when you wake up in the night? The light from phones and other devices can disrupt your sleep, which in turn can have a serious impact on your mental health.
Worsening symptoms of anxiety or depression. Rather than helping to alleviate negative feelings and boost your mood, you feel more anxious, depressed, or lonely after using social media.

Yours in a Democratic view....!! -Shiri
"}]
As mahatma Gandhi said "POVERTY IS THE WORST FORM OF VIOLENCE",every year 3.1 million indian children die before age of 5 mostly from diseases of poverty like diarrhea.

INTRODUCTION: India being the second most populous country after China with almost 1.2 billion People has enjoyed growth rates of upto 10% over many years and is one of the largest economies in the world, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 1,644 billion US dollars. But only small percentage of Indian population has benefited from the impressive economic boom so far,as majority of people in India are still having in abject poverty.

And yes,we take the difference between IMF's April 2020 forecasts for GDP growth and their forecast from October 2019 as "The covid effect", a slight simplified version because other things have also changed in world that may have caused the IMF to alter it's forecasts. However, the largest change is clearly caused by covid-19 and the policy response around the world.

Causes: Even under-estimates of poverty as made by NSS 1999-2000 show that 260 million persons or 26 per cent of population live below the poverty line, that is, do not have sufficient consumption expenditure to meet minimum food intake in terms of calories. 70 per cent of the poor live in the rural areas. What are the causes of this mass poverty? We explain below some important causes of poverty in India.

✓increase rate of population
✓less utilisation of resources
✓a short rate of economic development
✓increasing price rise
✓unemployment
✓shortage of capital and able entrepreneurship
✓social factors and political factors
✓unequal distribution of income

Many economists have pointed out that in the year of good agricultural output, poverty ratio declines. Good performance in agriculture leads to more employment opportunities and fall in prices of food grains. More employment opportunities and lower food price cause poverty ratio to decline. The experience of Punjab and Haryana shows that with agricultural growth through use of new high yielding technology (popularly called green revolution), poverty ratio can be significantly reduced.

However, in various states of the country such as Orissa, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, East Uttar Pradesh, where poverty ratio is still very high new high-yielding technology has not been adopted on a significant scale and as a result agricultural performance has not been good. As a result, poverty prevails to a larger extent in them.

As a result, irrigation facilities whose availability ensures adoption of new high-yielding technology and leads to higher productivity, income and employment, are available in not more than 33 per cent of cultivable land. As a result, many parts of the country remain semi-arid and rain-fed areas where agricultural productivity, income and employment cannot be sufficient to ensure significant reduction in poverty.

EFFECTS OF POVERTY:

The resounding effect of poverty echoes through various layers of an India citizen’s life. If we try to have a systematic look at them, we should proceed under the three following heads:-

1. Effect on Health – one of the most devastating effects that poverty has is on the overall health of the nation. The most prominent health issue stemming from poverty is malnutrition. The problem of malnutrition is widespread in all age-groups of the country but children are most adversely affected by this. Limited income in larger families leads to lack of access to sufficient nutritious food for their children. These children over time suffer from severe health problems like low body weight, mental, physical disabilities and a general poor state of immunity making them susceptible to diseases. Children from poor backgrounds are twice as susceptible to suffer from anemia, nutrient deficiencies, impaired vision, and even cardiac problems. Malnutrition is a gross contributor of infant mortality in the country and 38 out of every 1,000 babies born in India die before their first birthday. Malnutrition among adult also leads to poor health in adults that leaches their capacity for manual labour leading to a decrease in income due to weakness and diseases. Poverty also causes definite decline in the sanitary practices among poor who cannot afford proper bathrooms and disinfectants. As a result susceptibility to waterborne diseases peak among the poor. Lack of access to as well as means to procure appropriate treatment also affects overall mortality of the population which is lower in poor countries than developed nations like the USA.

2. Effects on Society – poverty exerts some gravely concerning effects over the overall societal health as well. These may be discussed along the following lines:-

a. Violence and crime rate – incidence of violence and crime have been found to be geographically coincident. In a backdrop of unemployment and marginalization, the poor resort to criminal activities to earn money. Coupled with lack of education and properly formed moral conscience, a poverty ridden society is more susceptible to violence by its people against its own people from a sense of deep-seated discontent and rage.

b. Homelessness – apart from a definite drop in the esthetic representation of the country, homelessness affects child health, women safety and overall increase in criminal tendencies.

c. Stress – lack of money is a major cause of stress among the middle-class and the poor and leads to decline in productivity of individuals.

d. Child labour – one of the hallmarks of a poverty-ridden society is the widespread practices of exploitation and the worst of it comes in the form of child labour. Large families fail to meet the monetary needs of the members and children as young as 5 years are made to start earning in order to contribute to the family income.

e. Terrorism – proclivity of youth towards terrorism stems from a combination of extreme poverty and lack of education making them susceptible to brainwashing. Terrorist organizations offer poverty-ridden families money in exchange for a member’s participation in their activities which induces a sense of accomplishment among the youth.

3. Effect on Economy –poverty is a direct index indicating success of the economy of the country. The number of people living under the poverty threshold indicates whether the economy is powerful enough to generate adequate jobs and amenities for its people. Schemes providing subsidies for the poor of the country again impose a drain on the economy.

SOLUTIONS:
✓ Population Control:

Population in India has been increasing rapidly. Growth rate of population is 1.8%. For removal of poverty the growth rate of population should be lowered.

✓ Increase in Employment:Special measures should be taken to solve the problems of unemployment and disguised unemployment. Agriculture should be developed. Small scale and cottage industries should be developed in rural areas to generate employment.

✓Equal distribution of Income:

Mere increase in production and control on population growth will not remove poverty in India. It is necessary that inequality in the distribution of income should be reduced.

✓Regional poverty:In States like Orissa, Nagaland, U.P and Bihar etc. the percentage of the poor to the total population is high. Govt. should give special concession for investment in these regions. More PSU’s should be established in these states.

✓Increase in the productivity of the Poor:

To remove poverty, it is necessary to increase productivity of the poor. The poor should be given more employment. More investment should be made in pubic and private sectors to generate employment.

✓Development of Agriculture:

The agriculture should be developed to remove poverty. Rapid rate of growth of agriculture production will help to remove urban as well as rural poverty. Agriculture should be mechanized and modernized. Marginal farmers should be given financial assistance.

✓Increase in the rate of growth:

Slow rate of growth is the main cause of poverty. So growth rate must be accelerated. In 2003-04 the growth rate has been 6.5% despite that 26% of population remains below poverty line.

And the end, measurement of poverty is really very tricky,as different places have different understandings of poverty at different times.

For example,a poor person in USA could be one who doesnt own a car.But in india, having a car is a luxury only some can dream of us.Thus, measuring several aspects of one's nutrition and income determines poverty in india.

Lastly,"EDUCATION IS A BATTLE AGAINST POVERTY THAT EVERYONE SHOULD FIGHT FOR AND POVERTY IS NOT MADE BY GOD,IT IS CREATED BY YOU AND ME WHEN WE DONT SHARE WHAT WE HAVE."

txt

COVID19 Pandemic since the starting of the year 2020 has toppled the lives of people. The lives of the middle class and lower class have taken a big hit. Poverty is caused mainly due to the rising control of the private sector over government-owned businesses, and also due to uncontrolled birth rate.

In 2020 and due to the pandemic, the government is selling its holdings such as Air India ( listed in the stock market). The quarantine measures and loss of economic activity have reduced the availability of workers. The lower labour income becomes detrimental as people reduce consuming goods and services and that harms the business continuity and the economy takes a fall. The income pressure caused by economic activity's downturn would devastate jobs near or below the poverty line. The growth impacts of the virus used for the unemployment figures above indicate an additional 8.8 million people living in poverty worldwide than originally predicted (i.e. a total decrease of 5.2 million working poor in 2020 compared to a projected decrease of 14 million preCOVID-19). As per 2020 estimate, in the mid-to-high scenarios, there will be between 20.1 million and 35.0 million people in working poverty more than before the pre-COVID.

Effects of poverty can be seen in the rising slums in an urban city where landless labourers are forced to live right beside the construction sites. More people in community slum levels are dying due to COVID19 as the government labs are taking time to provide a result and they cannot afford to go for a private lab test. Some take loans but are trapped by the system until and unless the government intervenes and take incentives.

During difficult times, International Labour Standards (ISL) provides a solid framework for key policy responses based on the vital role of decent work and ensures a sustainable recovery. These standards which have been adopted by government representatives, workers' organizations and employers' organisations, offer a human-centred approach to growth and development.

The government have issued measures that are to be followed by private companies to protect the employees against COVID19 health risks. Henceforth, protective steps are implemented at the workplace but most employees are working from home.

Protective measures must be introduced in communities to combat the contamination by COVID19. Large scale funding and support by the public are required to take these steps. Workers on-site must be protected with WHO recommendations and guidelines to minimize the direct effect of COVID19

Social media should be used to spread awareness, safety measures and to keep the public updated. Fake news usually causes panic so the social media platforms could come up with scanning factors to keep them away.

Robert is the team lead of the advertisement department of Nikson Pharma Ltd. and he and his team are having a tough time finalizing their company's new pain killer ointment, MOOV. That is when it clicks. He jumps up and grabs his notes to write the script of his fantastic idea!

This is how the script of the advertisement goes.. Spiderman returns home after saving a bus from falling off a bridge on the outskirts of the New York city and is tired, having a bad backache as he had to swing across the city as fast as he could and pull the bus to a safezone which weighed not less than a ton with all the people in it! After the adventure, he sets off to meet his girlfriend as promised. With a lot of struggle and pain, he reaches to the corridor of Mary's (his girlfriend) house. Mary starts talking about her day and how her internship is giving her good vibes about the future, and then notices Spiderman literally crawl down from the balcony to her room. She immediately rushes towards her bedside drawer and gets MOOV! Mary applies the ointment and soon after, the pain is gone. He gets another inkling of a problem happening somewhere and gets a call from Nick Fury, and he stands up to get going. He flies away, but comes back after a few seconds and says, 'Give me the MOOV' with a wink.

\r
And the advertisements concludes by spiderman quoting, “With great power comes great responsibilities, and MOOV is the saviour when we fail those responsibilities.“

Robert tells his colleagues the idea and all the team members loved the idea and their commercial was a big hit after the advertisement launched as their sales were five times more than what they expected.

txt
The state of being extremely poor is said to be the definition of poverty. And in India a place where you have slums and the homeless in every other street. We don't have to define poverty. It is something that we encounter on an everyday basis. Be it our household help or random people on the street or in public transport, poverty is everywhere.

Ever tried analyzing the causes?

In India, the main issue here is our fast-growing population. Now if you are thinking as to how poverty is related to population or vice versa.

Here is an explanation.

A mediocre person's earnings could suffice his/her personal needs but in the long run, these funds would not be able to fulfil the needs of a growing family.

In 2020 has the scenario changed?

Yes, with a national lockdown that successfully managed to flatten the curve of our economy, the poverty issue just got enhanced to a whole new level. People have been confined to their homes and a lot of people have lost their jobs. Poverty has knocked at our doors. The prices of goods and services do not seem to decrease any time soon but one thing is for sure, Poverty is real trouble.

Effects of Poverty:

Sometimes basic needs like food, clothing and shelter become unmanageable with poverty. Health care is essential to all but a poverty-stricken country like India can barely afford to fulfil the needs of its citizens. Regulation of prices is just a dream that is far far away from achieving in our country. We are just making our lives miserable each day. Job creation seems next to impossible in the current circumstances. Migrant labourers plight during lockdown is something that we will never be able to make up for, at least in 2020.

So what are the feasible solutions:

Helping people build their skill sets. Increasing the number of startups and cottage industries that we have. Promoting education in fields other than the usual ones.

And most importantly, giving people the hope and strength to move ahead in life and not be stuck at the crossroads of poverty.
"}]
What explains so much enthusiasm for boycotting or banning Chinese goods?

Most Indians would not want a full-fledged war with China. However, they would prefer to deny Chinese goods access to India’s $2 billion market. They think that banning is a low cost option to send a strong message to China to mend its ways especially with respect to Pakistan. That would also help Indian manufacturers suffering from demand slowdown and ever rising onslaught of cheap Chinese imports

Why it won’t work?

There’s no denying that China regularly engages in unfair trade practices such as dumping, use of subsidies or export restrictions on industrial inputs to out-price competitors as can be seen from the large number of WTO cases filed against China. It’s also more or less settled that it’s encouraging Pakistan to act against India.

txt
rich_1593350490775

There are no quick fixes, for sure but here’s what can be done:

To make its manufacturing sector withstand tough Chinese competition either in domestic or third country export markets, India needs to first fix its crumbling basic infrastructure and business unfriendly regulatory regime that raise the cost of doing business in the country. China with its huge financial reserves can play a constructive role in fixing India’s infrastructure but that calls for a policy of engagement rather than confrontation. Moreover, increasing Chinese investments in India will create Chinese stake in India’s well-being, and that in turn may discourage it from encouraging Pakistani adventures against India. Poverty is said to exist when people lack the means to satisfy their basic needs. Identification of poor people first requires a determination of what constitutes basic needs. These may be defined narrowly as “those necessary for survival”. Poverty has been associated, for example, with poor health, not being able to participate in recreational activities, low levels of education or skills, an inability or an unwillingness to work. But what actually causes poverty?

txt
rich_1593069639959

What causes poverty especially in India?

There is no one cause of poverty, and the results of it are different in every case. Poverty varies considerably depending on the situation. Feeling poor in Canada is different from living in poverty in India or Africa. The differences between rich and poor within the borders of a country can also be great. Though we cannot completely state one reason for poverty for all places together, still Unemployment stands as the strongest reason for poverty.

Some special reasons of poverty in India:

1) Corruption and Black Money are undoubtfully the major obstacle for the growth of the economy. Black money leads to reduced tax revenue for the country which worsens the strength of economy. Though government releases huge packages like the 20 lakh crore rupees package in 2020, Jan Dan yojana etc. the benefits never reach the needy due to corruption.

2) Population has been rising in India at a rapid speed. The rate of job creation doesn’t meet this rising rate of population thus causing unemployment, increased cost of living therefore poverty.

3) In India there is educated unemployment and disguised unemployment. Poverty is just the reflection of unemployment.

4) Shortage of capital stands as an obstacle for those setting up industries, transport and other projects. Thus, jobs aren’t created.

5) Steep rise in prices leaves the poor vulnerable to death out of hunger.

6) Only 3% of total working population is engaged in industries. So industrial backwardness is major cause of poverty.

7) Low rate of inclusive economic growth has also been a major cause of poverty in India.

8) The social structure of our country like caste system, laws of inheritance and succession hamper the growth of Economy.

9) Lack of proper Infrastructure also effects the growth of the economy.

txt
rich_1593069639960

Poverty and Pandemic!

Especially during the tough times of pandemic, poverty has worsened in many countries including India. We are slipping back by almost a decade. Due to business operations being stopped in lockdown for nearly 45 days, companies aren’t able to payout their employees and caused massive unemployment. Even after the lockdown, people didn’t restore their spending capabilities due to limited salaries. This also affected the business sector in India which lead to forceful shut down of small businesses in the country. In order to earn higher profits to make ends meets, the prices of many daily essentials have been increased illegally which leaves the poor to starvation.

txt
rich_1593069639961

Effects of Poverty:

Effects of poverty is like the spread of corona virus. It affects everyone in contact i.e. an individual, his family and possibly the next generations too. Some things which are affected due to poverty:

1) The biggest effect of poverty is poor health. Those who suffer from poverty do not have access to enough food, adequate clothing, medical facilities, and clean surroundings. The lack of all these basic facilities leads to poor health. Such individuals and their families suffer from malnutrition. Further, when these people get ill, they do not have enough money to visit a doctor and buy medicines. Many such poor people die on a daily basis due to prolonged illness etc.

2) Poverty leads to violence and increased crime rates. Occurrence of violence and crime have been found to be prevalent in slums and rural areas. Due to unemployment and marginalization, the poor people often indulge in wrong practices such as prostitution, theft and criminal activities such as chain snatching etc.

3) Poor people are usually homeless. They sleep on the road sides at night. These makes the entire scenario very unsafe for women and children. It also effects the cleanliness the roads should maintain.

4) Poverty forces poor people to send their children to work instead of sending them to schools. This is because the families fail to bear the burden of their child/ children’s education. On an average among the poor families in India, children start earning at an age of 5 years.

5) Youngsters from poor families are usually targeted and involved in terrorist activities. These people are offered huge amount of money in lieu of which they are assigned with a destructive task of terrorism.

6) It also depicts the weakness of an economy of a country. This indirectly also drives away top-notch investors from investing in a country.

txt
rich_1593069639962

Can we ever end poverty?

Yes, we surely can end poverty if we could eliminate corruption from a country. (sounds impossible ?). The only thing we, the citizens of India, need to do is pay taxes properly without hiding our incomes and also make sure to raise a voice to ask the government about where and how the money we paid is being used for the upliftment of the economy. This way we could eliminate corruption and let government take measures to provide basic facilities to the people below the poverty line. Youngsters should always look forward to be a job maker not a job seeker. Encouraging people who have volunteered to provide facilities such as pure water, foods filled with nutrients, living places to poor people and who’re conducting charity services to develop the lives of them, by offering special rewards and admiring them in various ways would be a good way to increase the number of voluntary workers.

"}]
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an organized movement that is specifically against police brutality and systemic racism against African-American people in the United States of America. It was first formulated on July 13, 2013, by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi following the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman, in Florida.

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” – Martin Luther King

All Lives Matter (#AllLivesMatter) is a slogan that is created with good intention but it takes away from the oppression of the Blacks. It has since come to face criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement.
It should be noted that today, not ‘’ALL LIVES” face discrimination on the basis of skin colour. Professor David Theo Goldberg, a South African professor working in the United States, known for his work in critical race theory, the digital humanities, and the state of the university, says, "All Lives Matter" reflects a view of "racial dismissal, ignoring, and denial". On Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill Maher expressed support for use of the "Black Lives Matter" phrase, stating that "'All Lives Matter' implies that all lives are equally at risk, and they're not". One who respects and follows the “All Lives Matter’’ movement, they are not acknowledging the discrimination facing by the black community over the years.

“When people say “BLACK LIVES MATTER” that doesn’t mean blue lives don’t matter” – Barack Obama

Black Lives Matter campaign and the protests are all about bringing equality. Blacks have been facing discrimination since ages only because they have a different shade of skin colour. Last month, the murder of a black man named George Floyd in Minnesota, US, has again caused rage in people’s mind filling world conversation with white privilege, racism, police brutality. Peaceful protests had broken out in several countries where people showed their support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Surely, all lives matter, and “all lives ALREADY matter” but today and since decades brutality and racism against Black Lives are endangering the black community.

So, in what way is ALL LIVES MATTER a wrong campaign?

It acts to suppress the voice of Black people who are asking for their fair share of respect and status quo. It wants to mute the voice and cry of the Black community and their sufferings, which is viewed as insensitive, inappropriate and disrespectable to humanity when they are crying in pain.

Who has given us, humans, the authority to judge and torture another human merely because of a different shade of skin colour?
"}]
