Money. Apart from being an amazing Pink Floyd song, it’s a pretty good thing to have, apparently. That is in case our governments wants us to, but let’s not talk about the that just yet. Being a country of a almost a billion and a half, we are bound to be in need of it at every stage of our lives. From buying that little plastic bubble blower to getting your own means of transportation, money sets your mental stability.

Talking about mental stability, let’s specifically talk about the part of our lives where we are at the most matured and capable of making decisions. Our teens and early 20s. Okay, now that we’ve agreed on the timeline, coming to the basic understanding that most between this age gap are students, money is a virtue and comfort few have. How does one fuel this need for money. The obvious choice is work, but who would want to employ a sophomore? Being the hasty generation we are, conventional methods of earning just don’t cut it anymore. This is where the crux of the article comes in. MLMs or Multi Level Marketing Schemes, or just plain simple Pyramid schemes offer that quick buck and being so accepting of everyone who wants to be a part of it slowly have and are becoming an easy option for students.

Pyramid schemes or MLMs are not illegal in India. There is an abundance of evidence and first hand experience from participants who will vigorously argue on how vital these “Corporations” have been for them in leading a glamorous life. So let’s build on that exact concept. The glamour, as a fruit of building a ‘downline’ as they call it, in the cheques they cash every month, right to the show room cars they’ve booked before completing their bachelor’s. Everything right in front of you. It couldn’t all be wrong, could it? It is real. The money, the bikes, the cars, the trips that you see are real. All carefully rendered to motivate another customer to join the ranks.

This is an important part to the functioning of Pyramid schemes. The flair and pomp is not for the sake of it but holds a special purpose. It acts as a sign of financial stability and controlled funding. Most MLMs target vulnerabilities in the crowd. In terms of students, a bike, usually a flashy one. A tailored suit, glasses, and tiny details which usually go unnoticed but are vital to separate the ones in the system and the ones who are not.

What you don’t see are the 60% who drop out of this structure in the first month. All you see are the ones who’ve reeled in enough bait to float their boat. As rheotorical as that may sound, it is true. In order to be good at MLM you need to sustain the exponential growth. Growth which needs each person in the structure to further contribute a number of participants, let’s say 5, to the downline.
Well, according to basic mathematics, this 5-5 rule can only be achieved for an estimated 7-8 cycles before the entire population of the earth is exceeded.
Think about that for a second. Now, each Corporation has it’s own twist to this core model of marketing. Some don’t directly ask for registrations but do so in terms of products or commodities sold/bought during a certain interval of time.

The most common mathematical bait used by these schemes is the idea of earning your money back by filling your quota of minimum additions. If you’ve done the math on this, it becomes apparently simple. Just go out, get something like 9 people registered for the fee charged or products sold and lay back while the others do the work for you. At some point let us assume the chain is broken. For the sake of understanding, let it be the second wave of enrollments. Now that a complete array of oppurtunities have been excluded, there’s the extra pressure of others in the link to deliver even more.
But where can someone get the numbers from? The obvious and sad part of this scheme is that it requires the victim/participant to enroll his friends or family. Apart from the awkwardness of this transaction, there is a certain lack of ethics in asking your friends and family to grow your business. The simple idea behind it being you can trust them in building your reach. There’s been an ample amount of research and statistical proof against the said practice. The idea of bossing someone you’ve known for a long time, into doing work for you, in itself should direct the moral compass south.

With all this being said, how does one actually know if it’s a Ponzi scheme?
Well, some ways to know you are operating in a questionable business if there’s:

1) No physical product being exchanged for money- for example a pass or a login ID being issued for the fee paid.

2) No refund policy on all products purchased or distributed.

3) No physical office of the parent company registered in the city or region.

4) Products are unreasonably priced in comparison to usual competitive market pricings.

5) Company policy towards taxes is dicey and not clear

But one thing is for certain. The ones employed to recruit are persistent to say the least. Constantly fuelled by the need to reach targets, they usually see compatriots as cattle. Like just another cog in the machine. An unsaid dimension to this persistence is the fact that at some point during every interaction they either have to lie to themselves or the ones they’re trying to recruit. A lie that they’re doing this for someone else, or the opportunity won’t present itself like this often. That money won’t be an issue anymore or that the earlier you get in the better off you will be in the future.
Now the end part is true, although partly. A fundamental concept of pyramid schemes is that the one at the top will always end being the profiteer from every transaction or business done by company. At no point can a member of the 4th division be the biggest winner in doing hard work. Each arrangement has different bonuses or incentives to reaching a milestone. While some have levels, some have fancy names, and few others have power ties. Imagine working the hardest you’ve ever done only to see the one directly above you in the chain take a bigger fruit. This is only partly true because you’ll be way better off if you never even indulge in the fiasco that is MLMs.

Theres a certain void in terms of the laws governing the legitimacy of these groups. Theres needs to be a stricter policy informing the public about the numbers behind such schemes. False advertising need to be addressed with scrutiny under the National Consumer code. But most importantly it is the duty of us as individuals to have an informed debate on the issue without just pushing the topic aside for being a bit controversial.

Have you been asked to become a part of such a ponzi scheme?
Here’s is a website to check the details about every such corporation registered under the Ministry Of Corporate Affairs:
http://www.mca.gov.in/MinistryV2/index.html

1. Scroll down to the ‘I want to..’ side tab on the left of your screen

2. Click on ‘View Company or LLP Master Data’

3. Click on the search icon next the Company Name bubble

4. Enter the name of the company to check financial details and beneficiaries.

Be informed before making your choice. Do not give into peer pressure. And most importantly, don’t rush into making money.

"}]
I spend my time dreaming. About the endless possibilities, the innumerable fantasies that seem to be bottled in a day. I live in the assumption that one minute in an hour can change how I see time, rather how I can seize time. Can alter my views about hatred and also love.

How a conversation, the right one with the right person can become a memory so mysterious, that it’s how you have begun to think now. It determines how you see life itself. An array of conversations, some rare and few non-sensical. A few humorous and some hideous. How a single conversation with the wrong person can determine how you do what you do. How one word, though not a sentence is a totally legible response. How a gesture, though not always recognized is sometimes more than words can speak for themselves. How one single evaded conversation wasn’t as complex as you dreaded it would be? How it turned out to be life-affirming and enticing. And what you assumed would be as breezy as the wind turned out to be a storm, whose after-effects still seem to reside within you. Both, the repercussions and the reiterations.

How, one frustrated question and a fitting reply can make you look back to who you were and who you have become. Yes, maybe life is indeed just a tangled mess of conversations. A few with family and some with strangers, and those, with strangers who become family. It’s that jumbled mess, these conversations whispering secrets and those declaring love; that somehow make your memory more dear, and the mind uncannily clear.

Life is indeed, that conversation that you seem to have with yourself.

So, next time you question yourself whether or not to speak, don’t hesitate. You will be missing out on life you see.
"}]
Let's face it, students are almost always on a shoe string budget, those who live away from home even more so, they can't keep constantly asking for money from back home and risk an investigation from home, so how can a student keep up with the times, hang out with their buddies at great places, buy important stuff relevant to their home use, books and other various commodities and still managed to cap it all in their shoe string minimal budget?

This is where coupons come to the rescue. GrabOn, for example, understands what a student and the youth of the country needs. Here's reasons why you should use coupons.

1. It's cheap, obviously

Coupons save a lot of money, it's borderline ridiculous on how much your spending habits change and how much money you can save when you start using coupons regularly in your life. The days of worrying in choosing between stuff you need and that delicious pizza you want to eat are gone, because with coupons, you can do both. If you ever got a cut on your hand, would you hit it with a hammer? No, rationally you’d clean the wound, disinfect it, and cover it with a Band-Aid. How often does our mind get traumatized? Every time we hear a negative comment from someone we care about, it hurts. When someone shares something negative a third person said about us, it hurts. In this social world we live in, we’re bound to get hurt. Unfortunately, when it comes to emotional pain, we typically choose the hammer over proper care.

Many of us react to the hurt by reinforcing it with our own thoughts; smashing it harder and deeper into our minds. Many of us lash out at others and ruin relationships. But when strung together enough times, these internal negative thoughts coupled with the original trigger create depression, a mental illness.
Depression, isn’t just a sad feeling which most of the people these days claim to have. Depression is a chemical imbalance, a state where you feel helpless, where you do not know what to do with life and most of the times, you just feel like giving up on everything. ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) is a symbol of India's growth and development in the field of science and technology, first formed in 1969, it sent its first satellite in 1975 , the Aryabatta.

From transporting our very first satellite via bullock cart to becoming a leader in the industry by sending a mission to Mars at a budget that shocked the world, ISRO has come a long way and has played a crucial part in making India proud. Here are some things you need to know about ISRO

1. Aryabatta was developed with the help of the USSR back in the early 70s, India's first indigenously developed satellite, Rohini, was launched in the 1980s

2. The budget allocated to ISRO is far less than what an organization like NASA gets.

3. ISRO is the only space organization in the world to reach Mars in their very first attempt, all with an amazing mileage of Rs. 12 per kilometer between here and the Red Planet.

4. The heaviest satellite launched by ISRO was a whopping 5 ton behemoth. It was launched in 2001 and it is still active.

5. In September 2012, ISRO completed its 100th space mission with the launch of two foreign satellites.

6. ISRO is the 5th organization to launch the rockets with cryogenic engine which is made by itself.

7. ISRO is launching 102 satellites at a time into space on this February , which is highest for any organization till now.

8. Chandrayan-1 which is launched in November 2008 had found nearly 500 new facts about moon in two years.

9. Not only space research but ISRO had build world's third super computer after USA and Japan.

10. The future projects of ISRO is to send mission to Venus by end of 2017.

Not only these but ISRO had achieved many things in only few years and one of the fastest developing space research organisation.

Every morning returning from my daily morning walk I hear the similar horn.

The school bus arrives every day at the same time it used to arrive for me.

Everything seemed to be similar except for the fact that this time the horn call was for some other lazy children who just like me would fail to wake up with sunrise.

Those beautiful days were a promise of a better future. Oh yes I have earned that future well, but now I wish those beautiful days back. Those wonderful days willed with fun, laughter, crying, bitching, fighting, emotions and so much more than just mere studying. “SCHOOL DAYS” are indeed the best days of everyone’s life.

As a child we always wanted to grow up fast, but now we realize that incomplete homework and broken toys were far better than unfulfilled dreams and the world outside.

School days were the days when we were carefree about life goals. Life was all about the merry moments bundled up with seriousness towards exam period.

School is indeed a learning hub, just not in terms of the actual subjects being taught by then considered not-so-interesting-teachers, but a lot more than the book contents.
Learning to survive first day at school where almost everyone seems to be crying over for being sent to some place new to crying over the beautiful 12 year journey at farewell is an amazing journey to cherish lifelong.
Taking a walk down the memory lane, everyone ones in a while sheds a few tears reminiscing over the glories 12 years.
The first friend you make in nursery, the first tiffin you share with someone, the teacher who comes to rescue, the friend you never thought would stay for so long, the group you became obsessed with, the life you thought would never be so happening were all the products of happy schooldays.
Experiencing friendship to an extend that one day without that person in school is like a year of boring lectures. Friend : "Wool sweaters are so cool".

Me: "I think you spelled it cool instead of cruel".

Those innocent creatures did not know anything. The only mistake they did was to live as a sheep in this world. They never knew that being a sheep is such a big mistake in this cruel world. Sheep are the main victim of all the wool products we are wearing. Gloves, masks, sweaters, boots and many more accessories are made using wool. Wool shearing is a process where sheep's skin is trimmed off and sent to next stage for processing. People working there have no mercy. Sheep are beaten up, thrown, assaulted just because they move during this process. No one cares how much it suffers during this process. China, Australia, New Zealand are on top of the list for doing this cruel activity. Not only the people who produce it, people who sell it, people who use it, everyone are a part of this cruel activity.

Why is man always dependent on everything? In my childhood, I learned that living beings include Humans, Animals and Plants. But now I realize, in this cruel world only humans are considered to be living beings. Wool production has rapidly increased and the organizations have also increased which are trying to protect these innocent creatures. Campaigns and events are being conducted in order to stop using wool.

PETA announced that 22o companies have already banned the use of wool. Here are some of them:-

Organic cotton, Linen should be used as alternatives for wool. More support should be given in order to ban wool and save sheep from cruel human assaults. Because even they are living beings!
"}]
Let me start off by saying this is in no way an encouragement for you to drop your books and run off into the sunset singing Pinocchio's 'There are no strings on me' song. This is something I'm slowly coming to terms with myself, something I needed to tell myself more than I need to tell the world, but then again this has to be said, it pains me to think the many thousands of people who just exist, not living their life to the fullest extent they can just because they hate themselves for being failures.

Coming from a middle class, salt of the earth, first generation to move to the big city family, I was surrounded by people who had made it big in their lives by the sweat of their brow and by sheer determination to succeed, starting families when they had nothing and growing with them. My parents, bless them, met in the 80s and went against then culturally established norms and got married, and they came from the villages of Andhra Pradesh, moving to Hyderabad, making a living and making a choice as big as getting married on their own, wasn't really easy back then. So when I see all these people around me, it makes me feel worse sometimes because these folks went against all odds to get where they are today and I can't pass a single bloody exam, right? That sort of thinking can seep through your life, you see dead ends everywhere and you don't enjoy anyone's company.

It took me some time to realize that in life, somethings are simply not meant to be. I wasn't meant for this degree, I wasn't meant to make my first startup work, but that things do get better than I need to learn from the mistakes I made and move on. Most of all, I came to terms with a few things, like

1. The concept of privilege

I perhaps would never have understood privilege until I failed spectacularly at getting my degree and then failed even more spectacularly at my first startup. I had a solid home to come back to, a permanent address I could always call a home, parents who understood and accepted me as a failure because they didn't depend on me, and the privilege of licking my wounds and feeling really bad about what happened to me before I realized I was sleeping on a bed that costs in the tens of thousands, in a room filled with posters of video games and superheros, a rack full of books and had access to a fridge full of food. This was my safety net, and even if I didn't get my B.Tech degree my parents would fund another course for me, because why wouldn't they? All my life I didn't have to work hard because I had what I wanted, and when I had to work hard for something, I couldn't do it properly and whined about it for days, and that was frankly wrong and very irresponsible of me.

2. Learning to take responsibility

Speaking of being irresponsible, I had difficulty in accepting something went wrong because of me, I even had trouble accepting situations as they formed, a costly mistake as I would later find out. Throughout my B.Tech I would blame my exam results on someone else, the professors were prejudiced against me, or the University intentionally scored my paper low because they needed to make money off students, excuses I was making for my terrible behavior instead of actually understanding what went wrong. My faults were always someone else's, I believed that they didn't understand me or hated me, but I never once realized that I was washing my hands off taking responsibility of my own actions and spent more time complaining and whining about the situation at hand rather than coming up with solutions, because that actually required me to accept responsibility.

3. The 'Log kya kahenge' conundrum and how to deal with it

I allowed myself to think of what people will think of me as a failure and it greatly affected my mental health. I showed signs of depression, I developed a terrible inferiority complex causing me to still have trouble speaking to people who've made it in life, I saw my friends get their degrees, get married, settle down in beautiful homes with a great salary and all of this got to me.

But the beautiful thing here is, life moves on with or without you. The people close to become invested in their own lives, and while they do wish well for you, it wasn't them who had expectations from you, but you who expected them to dislike you for being a failure. Good friends don't turn their backs on you even if they are invested in their own lives, and we as adults know this and respect their privacy and personal life, and unwind over a cold one once in a while. This realization also helped me develop a thick skin, and now I do what I want, without worrying about what people think of me.

Pictured below, me with thick skin

4. Your worth isn't decided by what degrees you have

I'm a writer, I write stuff. Even with a B.Tech degree, I want to continue being a writer and explore this field further in the future, so what value does a B.Tech degree hold for me? Yes, it's great to have something to fall back to in case I fail the same way Brazil failed against Germany at the 2014 World Cup, but then why would I want to fall back on a degree I absolutely have no desire to have, I would rather go back to the drawing board and study for another degree, this time something I like, because I know I can do it, and because I am privileged enough to do so, choosing whether to pay for it myself or not is something that is a choice for me, not a compulsion. So if you hate your current job and want to do something else, if you are struggling in finish your degree, always remember that it doesn't matter when you graduate (or not), from something you never chose. Your work is greater than your supposed 'worth' on paper. The degree doesn't speak about the talents you may have, and it never will. Only your work will, so go ahead and achieve greatness in your chosen field, even if it takes longer than usual.

5. It's going to be okay

The sun will still rise tomorrow, no matter what. Being a failure comes with an intense hatred for one's own self, it can manifest in many different ways, some psychological, some physical, often accompanied with despair. But the sun will still rise tomorrow, and it will be okay.

No matter what happens in life, no matter how hard you fall, you always have a choice. You can either pick yourself up or stay where you are, either way, the sun will rise tomorrow, but the choice in making the next day marginally better for yourself lies in your own hands. There's always someone around who's going to love you, who's going to listen to you and give you a shoulder to cry on, so if you want to let it out, do it, but remember that it's your responsibility to yourself to keep your head up and stride forward without fear, come what may.

Because once you hit rock bottom, there is no other way than up, and that right there is why it's going to be okay. Because life goes on, and the sun will rise tomorrow, and you will improve yourself and be a better person than you were yesterday.
