It's not always feasible to buy a giant TV for your home, especially if you've just graduated, moved to a new city for a job and want to have a TV at home you can watch movies on or play games with. With it's wonderful pricing and nifty size (It's 32 inches), the Sony Bravia HD Ready LED TV is a nice little addition to your house, if you aren't looking for a full HD experience or a larger TV.

Pros:

The TV comes packaged with a clearer resolution feature to give it the appearance of having a higher resolution that it actually does (the TV is capped at the regular laptop resolution of 1366x768), and can also be wall mounted!

One of the major gripes I have with TV sets is when there is a lack of ports. One HDMI port and one USB port will simply not cut it in 2017, it makes no sense not to have more than one or even two these days. This model has two HDMI Ports, which is not bad, but only one USB port which makes no sense, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

The picture quality is excellent for the asking price, during the review I tested the movie with some of the most gorgeous movies in the industry and I am happy to report that the picture quality seems uncompromising, but not the best. There is more to be said here, but we will get to that in the next section.

Cons:

Despite the Motionflow technology native to Bravias, the upscaling of movies and images on the TV do not work well enough. It is still great to view it from a distance but if you're the kind of person who likes to absorb the details then it will bother you.

As mentioned earlier, the number of ports are simply too less. Two HDMI ports are manageable but one USB port is simply inexcusable.

Final Thoughts

Considering what we pay for this TV and the quality we're getting for that price, it is practically a steal and a great addition to your place for some Rest and Recreation. If you've been looking for a budget TV that fits your needs and is not big enough to be a bother as well as not small enough to be insignificant, go for this TV.

Do you remember hearing mythological tales as a child, with your mouth hanging open as you stare at your grandparent/elderly figure, hooked to every word they speak, your little mind blowing at every new and amazing detail? Reading Norse Mythology by master wordsmith Neil Gaiman is the same, except this time you're older, wiser and yet have your mouth hanging open at the style with which Niel tells the story of the old gods of the cold lands to the north.

It is difficult to put down a Neil Gaiman book, which can be both a blessing and a curse depending on whom you ask and how much time they have for reading books. His writing appeals to your sense of wonder and imagination, and this book is full of that. Gaiman takes you on a journey of discovering the Norse Mythology through his words. The child who was pulled into the world by Marvel Comics's The Mighty Thor completely immersed himself in the mythology and gave us some of the best works influenced by it.

The reason I'm talking more about Gaiman in this review than the book is because the book is a love letter by Gaiman to the Norse Mythology, to a part of his life that was spent reading about the incredible old gods and their stories, and how much it has influenced him since then. The book itself is incredible, the structure in which the story is told, separating the mythology from the 'players' as Gaiman writes about the gods. The book is neatly structured into multiple sections that delve into the story of the one that is named at the beginning of the section. The conversations between gods feel like conversations you physically bear witness to, and that is a mark of a really great writer, to be able to transport you to the vision they had in their mind.

This might not be Gaiman's best work, but he has no interest in giving us a reason to find fault with the book. If anything, I am sad that the book had to end.

When the book does end, it's like a spell has broken and you are back to your comfortable reading chair or bed, and all you want to do is jump into the magic once again. It is a hard book to put down, and it is a love letter by Gaiman to Norse Mythology. With this book, he brings to us what enthralled him all these years, and it is something everyone should pick up to read.

The point of a movie is not just to internet. Cinema, truly great cinema, makes you think, introspect, and more importantly, inspire: it inspires you to run after your dreams and to be uncompromising in your pursuit of greatness. So here's 5 must watch movies for students!

1. Good Will Hunting

Robin Williams has had a long and illustrious career with many incredible and powerful performances, but his role as Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting is one that made the most impact on me, personally. Along with a young Matt Damon playing Will Hunting, the movie explores themes of realising one's potential. This movie encourages students to introspect and come to terms with the talents they have, and is one of the reasons I started my career in writing.

2. Dead Poets Society

'O Captain, my captain! The fearful trip is done!"

The famous poem by Walt Whitman will become one of the most memorable scenes for you from this movie. Jack Black's incredibly funny and incredibly inspiring 2003 movie about teaching his students how to stop having their nose buried in books all the time and inspiring them to take up music and let their passion speak for them is a beautiful movie hidden under its comedy and goofiness. Indian parents are just not okay with videogames. And they have good reason to feel this way. The present gaming generation are youngsters aged 15-25. Most of our parents are 40-50 years old. This means that when they were our age, about twenty years ago, the things they did in their free time were completely different compared to what we do. Information Technology, quite frankly, is one of the backbones of the world today. A lot of surveys in the last two years, concluded that engineering students are mediocre. In fact, the most popular survey is one by Aspiring Minds, an employability assessment company and this survey found out that only 7% of the engineers produced in the country are employable. Another survey conducted by the same company, found out that only 4.27% of all the CSE/IT engineers in Hyderabad know how to code. This is a shocking fact as Hyderabad is one of the major IT hubs in the country and is one of the cities with the highest number of engineering colleges and is also the city with a huge number of IT related jobs every year.

While a significant chunk of the other 93% of engineers who are not employable because of their lack of communication skills and lack of their ability to sell themselves, the rest, are in the mediocre zone because of the huge number of colleges present.
In India, there over 3300 colleges across the country with a combined seat count of 1.4 million. With the government permitting colleges to open and function regardless of the standards, the non-employability of these students is bound to happen. The mediocrity is becoming more evident with hundreds of colleges applying for closure this year. And as the popular meme goes, "India is a place where people become engineers first and then decide on what they want to do in life", being forced/manipulated/coaxed/goaded into engineering (including yours truly) is also a major reason for mediocre engineers.
In a complex scenario like this where the state and central governments (in order to do good for the country and to create more employment) go about pitching the country to various major multi-nationals; where teenagers are presented with engineering as the only option to succeed in life; where the prospect of pursuing engineering is fed to kids with milk in baby bottles; where humanities, commerce and other areas of study are severely looked down upon; students finishing engineering course and turning into mediocre, unemployable engineers is an eventuality.
Instead of blaming students and their lack of technical expertise even after finishing a professional course, the focus should be on revamping the entire system. A 10 year old child in sixth class need not focus entirely on M, P and C and instead, should be taught important life skills, should be taught importance of communicating properly and boldly. Parents of these very children should start realising the opportunities of all fields rather than passing on condolence messages to those parents whose kids opted for commerce or humanities.
Engineering colleges, on their part, should maintain stricter standards in terms of teaching and should focus on teaching relevant syllabus as opposed to teaching outdated topics. The government, the big daddy of them all, should in turn, reduce the corruption to at least a manageable extent (removing corruption is fantasical and that is why it is not being talked about here) and start issuing permissions to colleges based on standards and stringently keep an eye on how they function.
Students are mouldable teenagers, fresh out of school. There have been countless instances where mediocre to academically poor students have excelled just because of what colleges offered to them. So if fingers have to be pointed at regarding students' mediocrity, it is to the colleges and to the education system and not towards the students.
*Picture for representational purpose only*
"}]

Movies are what they are because they tell us a story like no other medium can. The movie is the car, the actors its pilots, drivers, cyclists whatever you prefer to call them, and you, the viewer, are there for the ride. Movies tell you stories you identify with, putting yourself in their shoes as you relive the story on the screen. With our list of 5 Hollywood movies every student should watch coming soon, here's a list of 5 Indian movies every student must watch

1. Taare Zameen Par

It can be argued that students in colleges might be a little older that the required demographic the movie is targeting, but the themes of following your dreams, independence, being comfortable with who you are instead of hiding it still relevant to students in colleges today, and will be relevant to students in the coming years.
