I wasn't as attached to Linkin Park as my older cousins were who were 90s kids were. By the time I could appreciate good music, they had already graduate to bands like Zeppelin, Flyod, Steven Wilson and further, so that's where I started. But I suppose the whole reason I was lucky enough to be introduced to these genres of music was because of my cousin's introduction to the world through Linkin Park.

The point here is that, while their loss is something I cannot comprehend, the reason behind Chester Bennington taking his own life is all too familiar for anybody who has been a teenager and gone through a period of depression.

As the staff writer of stuMagz says it, thinking suicide is selfish is discounting the fact that the man who committed suicide was so depressed he felt that suicide was the only way out for him. It is even more selfish to expect someone to keep living with depression just because you think suicide is wrong. Of course it is, everyone knows that, the point is that we should be helping people out of depression rather than criticising them for choosing to commit suicide after the fact.

The fact is that Bennington was suffering with chronic depression for a long time now, and for people with depression, every day is a struggle. Many people simply do not understand what depression feels like: it is when your mind wants to die but your body is doing its best to fight and live. You lose the will to do anything, even getting up from the bed in the morning is a struggle because you constantly ask yourself just what exactly is the point of getting up in the first place. Every night, you go to bed wishing, praying even, to die in your sleep. What kind of existence is that?

Even the most successful people have depression, money and fame is no indication of happiness, and if you know someone who is going through depression, this is a formal plea from me, a random guy on the internet, please, please help them as much as you can. A simple action from you can mean the difference between life and death. The person needs therapy and all the support they can get, it is not something that'll be cured by watching a funny movie. Depression is a cancer that eats away at everything, so much that the only reason to live becomes death.

Please do not ignore depression, it has taken way too many lives from us already. No more.
"}]
Hyderabad has always been known as the city of lakes, most of which have been lost due to rapid urbanisation. With only 162 lakes left (which is a fraction of what originally existed), it is imperative to protect these lakes from pollution, encroachment and other threats. Live the Lakes is an initiative by Society for Advancement of Human Endeavour (SAHE), to connect communities to lakes and a serious effort to revive the surface waterbodies in our city. As a part of this initiative, they are conducting a major plantation drive at Regulagunta Lake near Chandanagar on Sunday, July 23, 2017.

Keeping in sync with the Telangana government's Haritha Haram initiative, this plantation drive aims to improve the ecosystem around the lake, as Viiveck Varma of SAHE explains, "We always aim for a comprehensive solution, instead of just a plantation drive where the saplings are forgotten about once the drive is over. We are going to plant specific saplings, that suit the ecosystem here and that will actually thrive and benefit the lake. After roping in experts, we have figured out what plants/trees that will be beneficial here."

The solution, according to Mr. Viiveck, should be a comprehensive one taking into consideration all the factors involved.

"There are a lot of people involved with the lakes, the community that lives nearby, the people who thrive on the lake like fishermen, etc. Loss of a lake affects them all and it is important to figure out and implement a comprehensive solution rather than just cleaning up the lake and forgetting about it later. We believe in involving all the concerned parties and also the government bodies like GHMC and HMDA, to ensure no further damage happens to the lake once it is cleaned," explains Viiveck, adding, "For instance, if a lake has chemical affluents dumped into it, we go to the concerned industry/factory and help them find an alternate solution for dumping their waste. There's no point in blaming someone or pointing fingers. We want the community to be a part of the solution and that is why we are doing this drive."

They also address problems like encroachment of lakes and assist the government with the necessary research and information. Roping in architects and geologists and mapping the current scenario and comparing it to the digitised maps that the government has, they help the government understand the issues and assist the government in coming up with solutions for encroachment.

When I first came into this college I felt I was stranded on an island with a number of unknown people. People staring and passing comments when I used to show up late as if I have committed a crime. Moreover, I knew nothing about my peers and vice versa. Being an introvert by heart I was shy to make conversations with others. We sit there thinking something will happen but college life will be over and one will be left without memories. So one has to stand up and brew their own memories as you have to look back to it one day when you are old and laugh about the things you've done when you were a child.

A few days later when the classes were on a regular basis, I started speaking to everyone by getting rid of the shyness and ego. They too spoke in a friendly manner to me. Like that we made a gang consisting of 6 girls and we used to hang out on a regular basis. That is when one fine day during the lunch break, were being freshers everyone's attention was on us and they were waiting for an opportunity to catch hold of us so that they can get to know us 'better' and by better I mean rag us.

The second year of Mechanical Engineering students were sitting on the parapet and giving us the look which is quiet understandable that we are 'next'. They were already ragging a couple of newbies and seeing us they stopped because apparently we were 'most-wanted' back then for being rebellious. And so, we were bait, a group of twenty boys and six helpless girls. With endless commenting and making fun of us they were trying to break us down. They made us sing songs backwards, pretend to make food items with sound, dance, kneel down and propose to any senior. Thirty minutes of pure torture for some but a wild experience for me. Out of the group, one boy was the rudest and harshest of them all, their intention was to break us as a whole. But that, fortunately, did not happen because our minds were fit as a fiddle. The boys, to their surprise, did not know we would act like this eventually they retreated and gave up because they realised it was of no use. That is when the tables turned. The professors, on seeing us being ragged, came to us and asked us to rag the seniors back, which we did it with great honour and pride. We roasted them all but under the influence and guidance of the professors. Their faces turned out to be like roasted nuts and we made a pact to be friends. The best decision ever made by juniors as well as seniors.Instead of having a world war three we brought peace and true among both years. Now they have graduated, being friends with them was the best choice we had ever made, I would rather say fate played a huge role in bringing a group of people together and now three years have passed by, but they have never failed to amaze us. The departments of civil and mechanical engineering are sworn to see each other in hatred but we broke that barrier and now we go together like India and United Kingdom but sometimes we turn plates and be India and Pakistan.

The best memories are made in college and this was my favourite memory. Now since all the slates have been wiped clean and we will only a have a year of fun and enjoyment after that we will part our ways. Just like when you think about yesterday, a day that will never come back to you. It only exists as a memory. But you never know what tomorrow holds for you, as every day is a gift. So enjoy your college days to the maximum as you will never get a phase like this in your life ever.
"}]
The Battle of Dunkirk is an example of how humanity dares to stand up against all odds and pull off the impossible consistently. The defence and the subsequent evacuation of British and other allied forces from the beaches of Dunkirk is one of humanity's finest achievements, especially considering the fact that they were getting pincered on both sides by the Nazi German army.

Before you go to theatres and watch what seems to be another one of Nolan's masterclass movies, here's what you need to know.

1. Newly minted British Prime Minister Winston Churchill ordered the BEF’s commander, Lord Gort, to evacuate as many troops back to Britain as possible as the army retreated to the area around the port of Dunkirk.

2. Initially it was estimated that just 45,000 men could be evacuated in 48 hours. This was before a call was sent out for any kind of naval vessel to help in the evacuation effort. The British people responded in droves. All sorts of vessels and civilians volunteered to go get the troops back home, one craft was from as far away as the Isle of Man.

3. The smallest boat to take part was the Tamzine, a 14ft open-topped fi shing boat, now in the Imperial War Museum.

4. On the first day, 8000 people were rescued. This number would soon swell to become one of the biggest evacuations in the history of mankind.

5. More than 200 ships and boats were lost during the evacuation with many tragedies . On May 29 the destroyer Wakeful was torpedoed and sank in 15 seconds with the loss of 600 lives. 26It is estimated that around 3,500 British were killed at sea or on the beaches and more than 1,000 Dunkirk citizens in air raids.

For a full scope of the sheer number of people that were evacuated, I would strongly suggest you watch the movie first thing tomorrow. The Battle of Dunkirk, the spirit of the soldiers ordered to fight to the last man to save their fellows, the bravery and the daring escapes by soldiers captured by the Nazis because they stayed behind so people may escape, all of it make it a story for the ages, a story that we must remember for ages to come, for this effort of human kind shows us what we are capable of, should we work together.
"}]

Ahmmm... You know I'm here....

So, having your lover by the side of the table "top"; Have you ever wondered how the Divine guided this aesthetically and exquisitely savory beverage into your life?

Well, He did so in the 17th century via a Sufi Saint named Baba Budan as his messenger. Read on to find out more:

In the 9th century, when the entire world was unaware of this genius, Ethopians knew about the stimulating effect of coffee. A gardener named Kaldi was the first one to observe the effects of coffee beams on his goats who became highly energetic after consuming these. Later in the 15th century di for the first te coffee travelled outside the African Continent to the Arabian Countries, especially the Yemen; the story of which was first discovered in a book found in the National Library of France in 1671.

Yemen grew on by the 17th century as the only major producer of Coffee in the entire world. A Sufi Saint named Baba Budan then, while returning from Haj carried back 7 coffee beams to India. Why only 7? This is a spiritual number in Islam. These first 7 seeds of coffee were then planted in the Chikkamagaluru District of Karnataka as the first coffee plantation in India.

By the 1800s coffee in India was made using honey and not sugar. It's grew as a reputed beverage of the rich as it's famous "Degree Coffee" grade was prepared using pure milk which, by then, were only affordable by the wealthy kings and landlords. So now you know, why it has the repute as being a symbol of the "Sophisticated".

In the 1870s, there was a sudden downfall of the coffee plantations in Karnataka when a fungal infection hit the crops and the entire plantation range was destroyed. By the time, coffee plantation had reached other states of Mumbai, Kerala and Kolkata amd were flourishing there having Mumbai already started with the first branch of the "Indian Coffee House" and India in 1936.

Karnataka too formed a Coffee Research Centre in the Chikkamagaluru District and bounced back in 1970 with a new and tastier variety of coffee that used 70-80% of Roasted Coffee beams and 20-30% Chicery as it's ingredients. This was similar in taste to the famous coffee of Yemen amd soon became a nationwide success.

Then the branches of "Indian Coffee House" spread across the country and gained India it's present repute of being the 6th Largest Coffee Producer of the world.

It's a common sight to see police on the roads in the middle of the night, keeping a watch for drunk drivers and that is the premise of the music video "Chukka", released by Talent Cocktail, a student group from Vizag. This video which has gone viral in the past few hours, and features a very catchy rap song sung by Aravind Sharon, a third year student from GITAM university.

"A friend of ours died in an drunk-driving accident and since then, we wanted to do something to send out a message and that is what motivated us to do this song," shares Aravind, adding, "When we were planning it, we felt that adding humour to it will make it more interesting to the student audience. We wanted to send a message that 'chukka' (a drop of alcohol) kills people."

The video, shot by Shanmukh Vinay and edited by Raviteja Kurmana & Ravindra Mudunoori, features young men driving drunk but pretending to be sober in front of cops. They then entertain cops in order to get away without a fine and it shows Raghav Krishna, Nani Bongarala and Mohit Pedada grooving to Aravind's catchy lyrics set to Chandan's quirky tune, about how people enjoy while being drunk. The song then ends on a tragic note, with the message that being drunk is not all fun.

"The main reason we rapped it was because rap is a genre that is easily relatable. We also want to do our bit to increase the popularity of Telugu rap and this song is our small contribution to Telugu Rap," explains Aravind, who shot the song along with his team in one single night.

The timing of the shoot was very challenging for them as they did it immediately after writing an exam as he says, "We wrote an exam and shot it in the night after the exam but the very next day, we had another exam. We rushed to college to do the exam properly after we wrapped up the shoot."

Aravind, who has been pursuing music for the last six years, wants to make a career out of it, saying "I don't want to be just another employee. I'm in the process of convincing my parents (both of whom are doctors), that I want to make a career in music."
"}]

It is not mandatory for students to use safety shoes, colleges just require students to wear shoes in workshops but it is better to invest in a good pair of safety shoes for workshops.
