R.V. Rao, the father of NSS and then Education Minister of India, in 37 universities. Covering all states of India, NSS had 40,000 volunteers at that time. It signifies the movement in life across time and space, the symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social changes. The eight bars in the wheels represent 24 hours of a day. The red colour indicates that the volunteers are full of young blood that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit.
