SR Engineering College… The 1st Engineering College in the region to get accreditation for all its B Tech programs in tier 1 (as per Washington Accord) and the degree awarded by the institution is globally recognized across more than 20 countries. Isn’t it a great thing!

Thus, right from its establishment in 2002 and after becoming Autonomous in 2014, SREC has gained great recognition all over within less span. There are many hands in behind the scenes.

It is famously quoted, "If the principal is strong, motivated and a good manager who clearly outlines expectations for staff and students, then the institution tends to make progress." This quote truly meant for our principal i.e., Principal of SR Engineering College - Dr. V. Mahesh.

Everyone would agree that Leadership qualities are must and should for a principal. When comes to the true meaning of it, Leadership is a matter of having people look at you and gain confidence... In short, I can say that those people are inspirational to others and can learn many things from their life journey.

In this regard, SREC principal's achievements are incredible! He has more than 20 years of teaching experience and successfully guided many students for their UG and PG projects. He has two research projects to his credit sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST). He has published more than 40 papers in various national and international journals and conferences. He is a reviewer of a number of reputed journals in the area of mechanical engineering.

His areas of interest include Cognitive Science, Computer integrated manufacturing, Supply chain management, and Metal Matrix Composites. He is a Chartered Engineer and Member of The Institution of Engineers (INDIA). He is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and International Association of Engineers.

Isn't it interesting! Thus, in this aspect to know more... , here is a small interview with the principal of SREC.

txt
rich_1563327030818

Q: Sir Can you share about your qualifications and your journey like how did you become principal of SREC?

I am from Khammam district. I pursued M-Tech in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from NIT WARANGAL and Ph.D. from JNTU Hyderabad.

I joined SR Engineering college in the year 2006 and worked as Head of Mechanical Engineering department for about 5 years. Later, I rendered my services as a Dean (Research) for 3 years. I took over the responsibility as a Principal in November 2015.

My journey in SREC till now is that special to me because it taught me many things at every walk of my life and I would never miss an opportunity to do my best further.

Q: Student’s all-round development is the main goal behind scheduling different programs… So, sir, can you say what are the programs being initiated in this regard?

Well, many are aware of SRIX launched in SREC. SR is the 1st Private Engineering College in the state of Telangana to have Business Incubator. The whole 35000 sq. feet is allocated for this purpose, where already 25 startup companies are working. That is the biggest motivation for students as they witness how the company grows right on campus. Companies are even offering internships to students of different disciplines right from their II year. Thus, this provides them to get the work experience and even gives the weightage for their resume further. As, nowadays, recruiting companies are even expecting the same. Looking at contributions made in research, Department of science and research has recognized the institution as, the scientific and industrial research organization.
Even JNTUH has initiated the Department of Mechanical Engineering as a research center.

Thus, in short, I would say that all these programs are helping students to come forward and explore new technologies apart from their academics. So, the more dedicated the students will be towards their passions, the more they can get from the campus and that one is what makes the difference.

txt
rich_1563327030819

Q: Where do you want to see the college in the next few years?

Well by God's grace and great efforts of the whole squad of SREC, we have brought up to this level. But as we know that the ambitions or aspirations will have no bounds or limits… In the same way, our goal is to see SREC as a deemed University. This is our all-time goal and wishes that someday in coming years this would definitely happen.

Q: Sir what is the biggest challenge you faced so far?

(Gesture: laughing) The biggest challenge I faced is to handle the students of this generation. I am not saying that they are not hardworking but, they don’t adjust with the schedules of academics prepared by us. The curricular of academics and subjects are designed in the way that students get hands-on experience. So, I felt handling them as a challenge at the start but … it is been easy with the help of the whole board of SREC.

Q: Motivation boosts up tonnes of confidence… Thus, how would you motivate students for their success?

My motto is “Hard work and hard work!” There are no shortcuts in achieving success. Even this is the secret of many successful people. So, I would motivate students to believe in themselves and work hard because all those hardships and hard work only pay worthy in unlocking the goals. In our days, we used to prepare our own notes by referring several books in the library. But now there are plenty of resources available online at any time. So, I would suggest students make good use of all the resources and in any case, this college will always be supported in building up their career!

For most people,
freedom remains as a fantasy something which they just dream of,

freedom is a wish that never becomes true,

freedom is 'if only',

freedom is in the hands of the society.

For me, freedom means to live without fear,

the fear of oppression,

the fear of judgemental minds and

the fear of my thoughts.

Freedom is a phrase we all intentionally like to chase after when we get bored of monotonous and repeating lifestyle. We, like to give ourselves a break and allow ourselves to move away from diversions and temptations. After completely ripping ourselves off, and being extremely and endlessly broken, we finally realize that true freedom is actually "Killing away our fears, and conquering them."

Do you think we are really free? Am not sure if freedom in its purest form exists as there is no world without limitations but being able to make decisions without judgment and prejudice is a good start. We live in a time where we are caught with 'me' but forget that there is 'me' in all of 'us' but, in spite of what we are that is not what we see. We see race and judge people for what they are. We fail to see that you vs me will drive to a world where none of us will truly be free. Open your heart and your mind and love who you will and be thoughtful and kind. Leave all your doubts and think like a child who sees his world as his paradise. Don't turn your back on freedom just pass it on.

It’s been 11years this naughty kiddo entered into our lives who loves cares and irritates me a lot. There hasn’t been a day without fighting with him. He is very chatty; listening to his cutest voice puts a smile on everyone’s face. The cutest word that he speaks out of anger with the bonny expressions relieves everyone’s stress and brings a fun environment in my home. Of course, this became a plus point to him in escaping punishments.

Apart from being naughty, he’s a very caring brother. He sometimes cooks Maggie for me when I come from college, shares my work and the way he supports me in times needed makes me emotional. Being younger than me, he thinks broader than me. Sometimes, I feel like there is much to learn from him.

In the letter to my brother, I would like to write

Dear lucky,
As time pass by you grew up

From a kid who always rumbles to the one who takes my turn when someone says against me.

From a kid who requests me to do his homework to the one who helps me in assignments.

From a kid who requests for the gifts on his birthday to the one who celebrates my birthday.

From a kid who asks me to cook something special to him to the one who makes tea, coffee, and Maggie for me when I’m tired, to the one who brings tablets for me when I’m sick.

From a kid who asks me to tie his tie, drop him to his school to the one who gets ready himself and pack my bag too.

From a story listener to the storyteller. From the one who learned from me to the one who teaches me.

I would promise you that, I will keep on irritating you. Because you look really cute when you speak something out of anger, I will keep on supporting you, caring you, try to do best as your sister.

I don’t need to tell you, that how much I love you. But you should know that in our lives, you came as a ray of light who made it bright. Your birth is not less than a festival for us as you are the one who gave meaning to not just Rakhi but many festivals. I always pray for your happiness and want to see achieving great success.
"}]
Freedom... Like I could say it is the want we desire to... Even in our case... we did so... In our childhood, it was just a matter of thing that we demanded... when we were been restricted by our mom from eating more chocolates or not been allowed to go alone outside... Many-a-times, we even felt of like... when we would get freedom from all those school homework! Isn't it!

Later on... slowly when we grew up to a certain age... there came the thought again about the freedom... when we were to choose up the stream of either Mpc or Bipc. But somehow some might be strong in their decision and took up along their interests and some might have been got adjusted! But I could say, max the count is more in case of the second one. Right!!!

Well, let's come to the point... The past is the past! But when comes to the present scenario... I could say in the race of aspirations... the race of IIT's, freedom to choose along interests are being killed right from their schooling itself and that too from their V standard... So-called IIT foundation classes... that are being scheduled in schools occupying all the free hours that were meant for sports and arts... Even in the worst-case... Thus, we suffered the whole mess of freedom after our schooling, but now it is being suffered right during their schooling.

txt
rich_1565591597673

This is not correct! I remember prose which I read in my English textbook with the title "Dancing in the Rain", where the author, Azeem Premji, describes his pity towards children by saying," When the first monsoon showers begin, I would see that the streets would be full of children rushing headlong into the rain, dancing, and playing. However, today the rain falls on empty streets... This is the new Indian reality!"

But do you think is this working apart? Well, only a few can win the race right... then what about others... again the same pity situation... depression and all shits...

So, in my opinion, today... our country is boycotting the freedom of children ... Freedom of knowledge is right for everyone... But it is lagging in its delivery!

I think many of you watched the movie... " Super 30". Again it's with the same goal where Brilliant mathematician Anand Kumar helps 30 smart but underprivileged students prepare for entrance exams for the Indian Institutes of Technology. But the thing is again the delivery of things... in a practical manner(for e.g. combinations problems we did in the maths... in movie been taught in a practical manner..) ... at the right age... which by the end we can see the result in the movie... That's the true way of implementing the knowledge by an effective way of teaching.

Even the coaching centers looting lakhs of rupees in the name of courses. But again the movie depicts free coaching... Again the thing to be grabbed is skill enablement #not looking for own profit but for the profit of the country. Whatever we have learned... spread the knowledge #Freedom for skill enablement #Indian society

So.. that's the truth I say... Thus, In my opinion... What freedom meant to you seems like... freedom to follow own interests and freedom to go on with the things at the right age and right time that too... need to understand the knowledge not learning the things... Then everything would go great!

Thus, let's appeal for the freedom of children- let's try to make the change #society! #Freedom to enjoy and explore through interests... #At right ages relatively #Skill enablement
"}]
The beautiful bond between a brother and sister is hard to describe in words, perhaps this is why we have a special festival celebrating brother-sister love on a specific day. Here's my chotu sa brother... #boondup... its the silly nickname kept by me... since he loves eating boondi, which is the same being done by him as seen in the pic! So, this photo is proof whenever he argues with me regarding the nickname.

And when came the topic... A letter to your brother... I got to cherish all my memories... I remember every little thing about our childhood and would do anything to have those moments back. The laughter, the tears, the fights, the fears—they echo in my soul!

All our silly fights were just like daily entertainment and fun... used to start right from breaking my barbie dolls to defeating me in the carrom... But I being stubborn... and clever indeed used to blackmail him by holding on his fav books and warn him of tearing the pages until he would agree that... I was the winner... Then more often... this fight used to end up by common dialogues - "cheater... for infinite years".. then, I used to say in reverse to him- "cheater for million infinite years..." Haha...

Did you heard of any height wall...This is in our room and the builders are me and my brother... Shocked to hear...Well, it's silly enough... I am talking about the one on which we have been marking our heights since the day... he challenged me against my teasings... And as usual... I deserve the defeat...
My brother, whom I used to tease funnily every time... calling giddu bataani is now taller than me...

My chotu is talented indeed and is totally influenced and attracted to the science subject. He loved watching all those scientific Hollywood movies and even forcefully make me watch with him. Though he is my younger brother... his way of taking up his responsibilities and actions towards me are more than an elder brother. I am blessed to have him who is my Bodyguard indeed!

To my brother...

I might not say this very often, but I love you again infinite times my cutu. I know it is not easy putting up with me, but you did.

And now I miss you a lot... since you have been joined into the hostel... I know you would definitely reach the goals that you set on... My future #Scientist... And being your elder sister... would never leave your hand and be supporting you... life long. Got to know amazing people through stuMagz and build the great relations of brothers and sisters... who are always there to help me and support me! and hope this bond will never fade away, rather it will multiply over years!!!

Finally, after almost an year I got some time and content to write amidst ongoing placements. But, this is something worth sharing that happened on 13th August 2019. A company came to conduct placements on 12th and the process continued till 13th since the number of candidates was huge. I knew the process will take time but I didn’t expect that it will last till 10 PM. It felt like that the interviewers were going to make us celebrate Pakistan’s Independence day. What is freedom for you? Just a topic to be discussed on independence day? Or something which you find better on some pages?

But for me, Freedom is just like the running blood in your veins; without which you are just a body with flesh! \r

For me, Freedom is to love my own self, whether my complexion is fair or dark, whether My body shape is just slim like a hourglass or a healthy like a cute Panda! Whether I am short or tall, intelligent or dumb or someone who doesn’t fit in the definition of an ideal person in the so-called ‘Indian society’, I own my ownself! Nobody else, except I can define my boundaries and limits to dream and love myself! \r

The day, one starts loving the differences in your own body, trust me, you have boarded the train called ‘FREEDOM TO LIVE’.\r

For me, Freedom is giving voice to my opinion whether on the dias of the college or the platform of life! Whether my opinions are in support of law 377 or its about choosing my dreams over others expectations, I have the freedom to express through words and actions! \r

The day, I would realise that wearing short shirt is no more freezing the men’s eyes on my legs, my ‘out-of-the-way’ dreams aren’t becoming a burden on the society, my late night parties isn’t a gossip item for kitty parties, the day when feminism will be actually preached and supported by men ; that would be a true FREEDOM for me! \r

For a teenager like me, it always means "free to do whatever I want" either in a right or in a wrong way just do it . But is that really what freedom means? Have you ever thought about the meaning of freedom?

To me, freedom means to be able to learn from my mistakes. No freedom would mean guidance from the top authorities, which would leave no room for mistakes making it all the more difficult to learn about life. Freedom also means having the time to do things right. Without freedom, it would mean that I wouldn’t have any time for fantastic, clever thoughts. I would have to do things extremely precise and quick. When I don’t have freedom, I am under pressure constantly.
