As if the demonetization wasn't causing enough trouble, students of DU have the added stress of running around ATMs to withdraw money, because their landlords refuse to accept money via online transfer and demand only cash, according to a report on Times of India.

Delhi, where areas around colleges usually have rents ranging from Rs. 10000 to Rs. 20000, students are being forced to stand for hours on multiple days by landlords who refuse electronic transfer and still expect rent on time. As quoted by TOI, Gayatri Mishra, a student of Miranda House, said, "I have to pay my rent by the first week of the month, but I only had Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. So I asked my landlord if he would accept them, but he refused and instead told me to pay the rent on time. Since all ATMs in the campus run out of cash very quickly, I travelled to Vidhan Sabha for several days to get the cash. My rent is Rs 11,000, so I stood in queues for five hours every day to withdraw Rs 2,000 at a time. I also had to borrow Rs 1,000 from my friend who lives with her family. Instead of studying, we are standing in queues and the PG owners are getting cash without any difficulty."

Other students are trying to study in lines, with Ashwini Joshi, a student of Kiori Mal College saying, "My rent is Rs 6,000 and my landlord is not accepting any online transaction. I stood in line for more than three hours but still had no money as the ATM ran out of cash by the time my turn came. I also tried studying in the queue, but it was impossible as people keep talking and you cannot concentrate. So I went to the ATM at midnight and got Rs 2,000. My friend stood in the line for me the next day and I am borrowing another Rs 2,000 from a friend."

From trying to find ATMs at midnight, to making multiple trips to the ATM to make withdrawals, these students are facing a lot of hardships at a time when they should be studying hard. Here is hoping they all pass with flying colors.

India's favorite Punjabi son, Yuvraj Singh turns 35 today, just a few days after his marriage to his long time girlfriend Hazel Keech. An inspiration figure and a cancer survivor, everyone has something to learn from him. Here's a list

1. Resilience, thy name is Yuvraj Singh

Whether it was fitting into any role when he started his cricket career, to battling cancer and still being on the pitch, you couldn't put him down. 1. Rajini is a humble man from a poor family

Rajinikanth's father was a constable in the police force, as the youngest child in the family, Rajini quickly learned that he has to work to support his family. Viswanathan Anand, India's first Chess Grandmaster, won the coveted titled in 1988 and has never looked back. His rise to fame has since then been meteoric, and today he is an inspiration to a generation of Indians that grew up watching him play, or being inspired by him to play the game of kings.

Commemorating Viswanathan's achievements in the game, here are top 10 reasons why you should be playing chess right now.

1. It raises your IQ

A common misconception regarding Chess is that it is only a game for the really smart people, which is simply not true. Everyone knows how to play chess, what people usually lack is the patience to plan ahead and lay traps for their opponents. Nobody is a genius overnight, as with any form of art or sport, you only get good at it when you keep playing constantly, and that has an added bonus of you thinking ahead of the game, which also means more IQ.

2. It can prevent Alzheimer's Disease

The brain, like any other muscle in your body, will waste away if you don't regularly put it to good use. It needs exercise like any other muscle in the body to properly function, and there's no better way to do so than Chess. A study concluded that people over 75 who play Chess have a lesser chance of developing dementia that those who do not.

3. Increases problem Solving Skills

Now Chess by design requires you to think ahead as the game progresses, and adapt to your opponent's moves as they are made. This alone encourages active problem solving skills and develops the ability to make solid decisions on the fly.

4. Keeps both hemisphere of the brain active

Researchers in Germany concluded that, not only does Chess keep the left hemisphere of the brain active, but it also actively fires up the right side of the brain, effectively giving your brain a two side workout. The benefits of this cannot be understated.

5. Improves reading skills

In an oft-cited 1991 study, Dr. Stuart Margulies studied the reading performance of 53 elementary school students who participated in a chess program. Dr. Marguilies concluded that the children who participated consistently scored more in reading tests than those who did not. And we here at stuMagz cannot emphasis enough, how crucial reading fiction is for children. 6. It improves memory

Goes without saying that Chess players are required to remember the moves their opponent has made, so as to not fall into obvious traps. Regularly playing chess improves your memory by leaps and bounds, and you can easily remember your boy/girlfriend's birthday.

7. It improves concentration

Do you have trouble sitting down to study? Are you easily distracted? Then worry not, Chess is here for you. Playing Chess is a fun method of drastically improving your levels of concentration, and if you play regularly, you never have to worry about losing focus doing important tasks, especially studying for exams.

8. It grows dendrites

Regularly playing Chess helps in the growth of these branches in your brain.

9. It encourages creativity

Asking how a game like Chess can boost creativity is a valid question, but keep in mind that with great improvisation comes great creativity. Not only does this encourage creativity in children (and there are studies to prove it does), it also increases creativity in adults.

10. Most importantly, chess is incredibly fun!

I distinctly remember the first time I picked up From Software's Dark Souls. The game's notorious difficulty was spoken about in hushed tones by seasoned gamers who looked visibly distressed just talking about their experience playing the notoriously difficult game. So it was only natural that I picked it up and gave it a go.

At first, I thought I had made a terrible mistake, not only is it notoriously difficult, but any enemy you defeat would come back and stand in the same places as before, every time you died in the game!

Not to mention the ominous message that displayed on the screen following death.

It wasn't until I defeated the first boss of the game that I realized what Dark Souls was about, and how it mirrors real life.

The core message of Dark Souls is that its okay to fail. Mistakes happen, a reckless attack here, a wrong move there, and you are staring at the same image as above on your screen, all your effort till there gone to hell, and yet, you pick yourself up and keep going. The game knocks you down, and you keep going.

That is what life is. Life knocks you down constantly and you could either give up and complain about why you can't improve yourself, blame someone for the position you're in, or you could get back up on your feet and keep going. You don't give up, you never give up.

Every time you die in Dark Souls, you learn from your mistakes, every time you fail in real life, you learn from your mistakes. The key here is to understand that you can't repeat the same mistake over and over again, because that would be your fault. Never be afraid of making mistakes, if you won't make one, how will you learn? The responsibility of learning from it lies completely on you, and that is what life is, your life, learning from mistakes so that you can improve yourself, so you never have to make the same mistake again.

Once you understand this very fundamental thing about both the game and life, dealing with both becomes much easier. The key to life is to understand that one mistake isn't the end of the world, and that you will never improve your standing unless you persevere, because persistence can sometimes be the one thing you need to chase your dreams.

I'll end the sermon now, because it feels like I'm giving an extended lecture to bored students. I would highly recommend you try Dark Souls, maybe you'll learn a thing or two. India stepped into the field actively in 1993, when an autonomous public body, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India, was found for the protection and promotion of human rights. NHRC works on rights relating to life, liberty, equality and dignity of an individual.

The theme for this year is "To stand up for someone's rights". The UN has asked people to step forward and defend the rights of a refugee or migrant, a person with disabilities, an LGBT person, a woman, a child, indigenous peoples, a minority group, or anyone else at risk of discrimination or violence.

Recently, a student from Birsa Agricultural University accused his seniors of ragging him for not 1, not 2, but 12 full hours. The accused students have now been rusticated, but nothing can replace the 12 hours of pure hell the student went through at the hands of post graduate students. We at stuMagz would like to remind our readers that ragging is wrong and not to mention illegal, and would implore our readers to not engage in it.

That being said, here is a list of the worst ragging incidents in India

1996 - The infamous Pon Navarasu case:

Pon Navarasu was a first year medical student in the year 1996 at the Muthaiah Medical College in Tamil Nadu, and was subjected to intense humiliation by his seniors. When Navarasu refused to lick the soles of a senior's slipper, the 19 year old John David, a second year student at the same college, used his Karate skills to murder the young fresher, then used surgical equipment to chop the body up in several pieces and dispose of them in various parts of the state. This infamous case prompted the first anti ragging law to be passed into legislation in Tamil Nadu.

The Berlin-based corruption vigilante Transparency International (TI) has ranked India 76 out of 168 countries in its latest Corruption Perception Index. The same rank is shared with six other countries: Brazil, Burkina Faso, Thailand, Tunisia and Zambia. Interestingly, India's neighbour Pakistan is a long way away at 117.

India has been struggling with corruption from the very beginning; with the common citizens bearing the most brunt of it. Whether it is the small bribe paid to a constable or the bigger bribes one has to pay to get basic services at government offices, it is the common citizen who always is on the receiving (or rather giving) end of corruption. Various governments have tried countless methods to curtail it with little to no success; with the latest venture being this demonitization.
