Bengaluru is a fantastic city, often called India's Silicon Valley with major tech companies and multiple startups setting up shop in the megapolis. However, as awesome as the urban jungle of Bengaluru can be, it can also feel claustrophobic and confining, hence the need to taking to the open roads to travel. So, keeping that in mind, and using your summer holidays, here is a list of places you can drive to from Bengaluru

1. Hampi

The ruins of the once great Vijaynagaram Kingdom's seat of power, Hampi today is a world heritage site frequented by many people from all over the world. The experience of visiting it is for the very first time is quite unforgettable. Studying abroad in universities of the various European Countries can be a wonderful experience for you, with its own advantages, but how can one apply for

Here's a handy list

1. Start your research

There's plenty of resources online to help you ease into the process of applying to US Univeristies but not enough to do the same for the European ones. So it's essential to start the groundwork and hunt for the universities you want to apply right from there. You can do this by looking up the top universities in Europe, the start the process of elimination depending on your requirements, before zeroing in on the few you want to apply.

2. Understanding the requirements

Countries like Germany will grant you a student visa once you are accepted by a university in Germany, but depending on your case, you may or may not have to learn German. Although it is always a great idea to learn any European language, it is very important that you clarify whether it is required for you to learn the language before applying for the visa or not. The language certification can be essential, and if you want to work in Germany after your graduation, it is a must.

This is just for Germany though, different countries in the EU might have different rules, check before applying, all of this should show up in your research

This ace student of MLR sports academy beat Daher Juan and Cifuentes Horacino, both from Argentina, in successive rounds to enter the semifinals. In the semifinals, he faced Phillip Floritz from Bulgaria and beat him 4-0. In the finals, he defeated Anthony 4-1 to win the Chile Open.

Soumyajit, who is from Siliguri, West Bengal, started the sport at a very young age, having been encouraged by his parents and in 2010, he won the mixed doubles bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in Bahrain and later played a key role in ensuring India's podium finish at the the World Junior Championships in 2011, by winning both his singles matches against South Korea in the quarter-finals.

His inspiring story continues as just the year later, he became the youngest Indian ever to become the national champion at the 74th National Championships. In the same year, 2012, Soumyajit became the youngest Indian to qualify for the London Olympics. After securing several other titles in the coming years, he also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics but lost in the first round.

While we couldn't reach out to Soumyajit -as he's still in Chile, we reached out to his coach at the MLR Sports Academy, Mr. Soumyadeep Roy. "Soumyajit came to Hyderabad this year. He usually trains in Germany but whenever he's in India, he trains at this academy here with me. I'm really proud of his performance at the Asian games and at the Chile open now. We have bigger targets for him now, and we want him to secure a podium finish in the 2020 Olympics," says Soumyadeep, adding, "I'm more of a big brother and mentor to him. We played together in the Indian team earlier."

Rajasekhar Reddy, the secretary of MLR Institutions, expressed his happiness at Soumyajit's win and said the sports academy would continue extending support to the player. "I feel very happy that a student of our academy won a prestigious event like this. I hope he secures a medal at the 2020 Olympics. It is very inspiring for us (the management) and we are planning on expanding our academy by building facilities for several other sports. We want to see a lot of olympians from our academy," said Mr. Rajasekhar Reddy.
"}]
I love Vizag, it's a beautiful and quaint place that has a charm of its own, and if you live on or near beach road, it's even better! However, if you're a resident, it's only natural for you to feel like going out of the city and exploring the far horizons, so here's a list of road trips you can make from Vizag

1. Araku Valley

The International English Language Testing System is the world's most popular English Language testing system, as the name very clearly implies, and is jointly conducted by the British Council, IDP:IELTS Australia and the Cambridge English Language Assessment, the results of which show how proficient you are with the English language because the score carries a lot of weight when it comes to applying to foreign universities.

So today, we have a list on how to prepare for the IELTS, efficiently, and effectively.

1. Understand the test format

IELTS is not your typical exam, trying to attempt it blind because you think it's just an English exam is one of the biggest blunders you can make. Understand the test format, and start planning how to ace it right from there. It doesn't matter how easy you think it is, just because you heard some people say it is, do not underestimate the test.

2. Practice speaking in front of a mirror

Speaking is an integral part of the IELTS test, and it is imperative that you speak confidently and with a smile (although nobody will be around to judge you smiling, but do it anyway, it'll add to the confidence boost.)

The most important thing to remember here is to maintain fluency and speak confidently. Of course you can't learn this right before an exam, so make it a habit to speak in English for at least an hour or two per day, or try speaking to yourself in the mirror. Talk about your day, talk about what you felt and make sure you maintain that fluency required to get the points you need.

3. Don't fear the listening part of the test

If you watch a lot of English movies and TV shows, then this part will be incredibly easy for you. If you don't, however, and have trouble understanding British and American accents, it is my strong advise to watch English news channels daily until you start processing the English you hear normally and don't have to struggle to keep up. Bonus point is that you'll also get to improve your general knowledge.

4. Reading and Writing

Personally, I feel these are the toughest parts of the test. Many people fail to plan their time properly and also panic while during the writing section. This, unfortunately, cannot be fixed without proper practice if you aren't used to reading novels or books in general. A great way to learn how to read efficiently and process the information would be to read newspapers everyday, or pick up reading novels.

As for the writing, check out sample essays, read what people who've cleared or topped IELTS have to say on blogs, ask for advise from your seniors, watch YouTube videos. The internet is a great resource, but no amount of looking up information will help you as much as practising will, which brings us to the final point.

5. Practice, and practice some more

This is one of those exams where only your regular practice can help you tide the wave. The internet is your resource, use it to solve example papers, do mock tests, listen to news reports in English (preferably BBC), and make an effort to speak in English, whether it is to yourself or to someone else, it doesn't matter. Just make sure you are confident enough to speak. I know you are, I believe in you.

I’ve always been very vocal about the thing I love the most about my college: basketball and everything that comes with it. So, I’ve decided to talk about the thing I love the second-most about my college. The library. Yes. Sounds pretty nerdy I know, but hear me out and you might just realize just how underrated the CBIT library is.

Let me get right into this. Shade, tables, fans and free wifi. That sounds like a dream come true when it applies to things like restaurants, theatres, etc and yet we fail to appreciate this incredible privilege when it comes to the college library. Unlike in restaurants and theatres, you also get that much needed peace and quiet to get your stuff done, whether it is a really intense texting session, an assignment that was due yesterday, a story you’re working on or the new episode of GoT. The library is my escape mechanism when I just want to retreat from the electrifyingly social world of college. It’s the one place I can completely geek out and not stick out like a three-foot fish in a planetarium.

The books it holds only makes all the more attractive. While textbooks are only to be used the week before exams, the reference books, magazines, novels and stories are to die for. I once spent a whole evening reading about genetics just because I felt like it. The novels are genuine, not-trying-to-trick-you-into-studying novels, including the likes of 'The Fountainhead', 'The Witch of Portobello' and even some in Hindi and Telugu.

Ever walk into a fancy coffee shop with a spiral bound journal and a pen and instantly feel like a hipster-poet-writer? That’s what walking into the library feels like to me. I’m instantly surrounded by this environment of comfortable intellectuality and the company of people all in pursuit of the same goal- to learn something new. It makes me feel wonderful inside. I’ve done some of my best work there, from writing poetry to studying Physics to discovering new music. You can come too and be pleasantly surprised to find your best self here, in the library.

One of the biggest reasons I want to be a child again is so I get to have the luxury of enjoying the summer holidays once again. I remember the holidays after Inter 2nd year, 5 months of pure bliss where I did nothing but play video games and compete in eSports tournaments where I won actual money, but that's a story for another time.

The overwhelming sense of freedom during the usual Summer Holidays can be difficult to handle sometimes. We become used to the routine, to the point that we cannot sit idle and while away time, that is of course, if you aren't me. I can sit still for hours doing nothing and it'll still be fun.

Jokes apart, here's a list of things you can do over the summer vacations

1. Take up shooting lessons

While taking out aggression in video games shooting bad guys is fun, learning how to shoot in real life will not only teach you how to aim and shoot, but also instil the discipline required to shoot a gun. The patience, the way the shooter breathes, the concentration, it's a great way to spend your time. There are multiple shooting ranges around the city which you can check out and sign up for lessons. Of course, it isn't easy, but nothing that's worth the time is easy.
