No matter what someone with a vested interest in truly terrible cinema might say, a person's idea of love, more specifically us student's idea of love, is shaped by the media they are exposed to. Take, for example, this meme down here.

You can see the name of the page that shared it and go read the comments yourself. For all I know, some of you might even agree with this. For those who do the latter, I have a question for you all.

What on earth is wrong with you?

Why do you think stalking a girl is a legitimate way to win her affection, and you ladies, you're not absolved from this. Some of you honestly believe that this is how love works, thanks to Mahesh Babu movies and his borderline creepy and control freak antics which you somehow end up finding cute. Like, what on earth is wrong with you.

You see this is a vicious cycle of abuse that is being propagated and normalised because this is the only way of expressing love that we see in our movies and popular media. Unsurprisingly, many of our parents are wary of being affectionate to each other in front of us (that doesn't stop them from yelling at each other and fighting openly in the house, by the way) and the only source of what we identify as 'love' comes from an already regressive institution that tells you that women are objects that must be pursued before they can be obtained, and it tells women that their worth is only in how conventionally attractive of a man she can attract. That and the fact that women in these movies do nothing except dance around on the screen and get kidnapped at the right time for the 'hero' to save them.

I didn't want to write this on stuMagz, this would be more suited for my personal blog, but considering the number of students that read this magazine and the fact that my target audience for this piece was, in fact, students, I had to get the word out.

So all you folks who assign love this over the top mythical quality of an item that you must possess at any costs, you are only setting yourself up for failure. Women are not objects and men are not desperate loners who just need women to be an arm candy that comes with a remote to shut them up. Which means

Love is a beautiful thing that'll happen to you in its own time. You can't rush this, it is not a commodity you can purchase. Sure, you can throw money around and get a few fake friends and relationships, the kind that'll disappear at the first sign of trouble, but it still won't buy you companionship and respect. The essential part of every relationship is trust and respect, what kind of respect are you giving someone you stalk? It clearly shows that you do not care about that person's rights, neither do you care about respecting them. All you need is someone to love for the sake of loving, and there is nothing more disgusting than that.

I mean, there are a lot of things more disgusting than that, but you get the point.

You're still young, use this time to learn how to respect someone you like instead of being a creepy stalker. Your idea of love is disrespectful, toxic and downright wrong, given to you by movies that sell a pipe dream to the lowest common denominator of the country who do not want to dream further than their entitlement to their would be partners.

It's time to stop. It's time to reassess your situation and stop being creepy.
"}]

In recent years there are lot of games that had been getting compared to the witcher 3 because it's in class by itself with a lot of strengths. When open world games like Fallout 4 or mass effect Andromeda (see Andromeda is funny enough) fall short in some areas, they are compared to the witcher 3 as an example of how they could've done better. In my opinion, the witcher 3 is a standard in gaming right now because of two things ,
The characters and the side quests

1505629852298
txt

First off ,as an open world game there are lot of characters that just stand around and do nothing (you know the standard RPG background characters)but the unique characters of this game is where it really stands out . From main characters like ciri and yennefer to side characters like the bloody baron ,CD projekt RED brought them all really well . Characters have personality, their own motivations and they don't just stand around in one area giving out quests to Gerald . They are interesting and you start to care about them more as time goes on because the quest will develop them even further. And that's the other reason why the game is so good ,it's the quests .

Unlike other games where side objectives feel like a tack down afterthought, side quests of this game were written so well that even fetch quests feel important. Go there kill this type of quest had a story behind it . Gerald would meet someone that needs help and you would learn the personal reason or history behind doing this quest . On top of that it was told with a cinematic camera angles ,so you won't feel like you were doing something less important and wasting your time ......(irony....) . When you get done you actually feel like you helped out . There wasn't a quest where it's go take this item and deliver across the city because I'm lazy and need to do something to do . The witcher contracts were interesting and each one had a little story behind . Some quests were short and funny like the one with the old lady in cooking pot and some even felt like the main quests like one where he helped out Keira Metz and if you do it she shows up later in the story to help Gerald. So it wasn't just busywork but you are also rewarded for your time .

The game industry will be looking at the witcher 3 as an example. Gamers want interesting characters and side quests . We don't want an empty open world with 10 different types of side objectives that repeat over again (cough cough Arkham knight) . Witcher 3 has open world which is varied ,it's characters had a charm and backstories and quests are told in a way that you feel like you were accomplishing something . Even it was just to make a village safer from a monster that you killed . This is the type of quality that we want and I hope developers will be stepping up there "game " ( the puns aye?) on their DLC's and also for their next releases .

1505629852299
txt"}]
We are learning that water is the most important element in universe from our childhood. We accept this truth but doesn't show importance in practical. For example: We take glass full of water to drink, but we drink only half glass and throw remaining in drain. We all know the present situation of our country no guarantee of rains in time. Now we have sufficient water to use but what about future?

Please THINK... make others to THINK...

coming into my idea of ''SAVING WATER FOR FUTURE" in three steps :

1. Reducing the wastage of water.

2. Reusing the water.

3. Looking for new water resources.

REDUCING THE WASTAGE OF WATER :

The above statement means using of water according to importance and in limit. We must take care of leakage during water supply.

For example in our daily life : 1. We use pipe water directly for washing car and bike. Instead we can use bucket and mug. 2. To bath we use buckets of water in the form of shower instead we can use bucket.

REUSING THE WATER

The above statement means using same water for multiple times in different places. This is the concept of recycling or reusing, the water we drink is not pure before supplying, water is recycle or purified. If you remember in olden days, we have one tree in front of our house where we wash our hand and vessels.

For example in our daily life: 1. We wash fruits and vegetables with water and throw that water in drain, instead we can use that water for watering plants. 2. We wash clothes and throw that water in drain , instead we can use it in our toilets etc..

LOOKINFG FOR NEW WATER RESOURCES

The above statement means searching for new water resources. India is an agricultural country and we have wonderful natural resources in the form of rivers. In our country we have some rives which flow throgh out the year like Ganga,Sindh etc..and in some rives (godavari) in rainy season water is over flowing and government is forced to leave the water into sea (bay of bengal). Government must take care in using this water by builting reservoirs across it, instead of leaving into sea.

CONCLUSION

The most important thing is to make people understand the importance of water and use water according to importance, in limit. If possible government must take some harsh decision like imposing tax on usage of large quantity of water.

The first two steps to save water for future, is in our hands. This is possible only by WE but not I. So let us join hands to " save WATER for future".

Recently on September 16, CMRTC celebrated 50th engineers day which is also the 157th birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya a legendary engineer. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman and the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. He is a recipient of the Indian Republic's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. He was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V for his contributions to the public good. 15 September is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India in his memory. He was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya district as well as the chief designer of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad.

The event was organized by the Civil Engineer's department of CMRTC. As a part of engineer’s day, there were many competitions like essay writing, paper presentation, and the quiz which were held in advance whereas model and the poster presentation were held on 16 September itself. All the competitions saw a huge participation from the students of all departments. The program which was scheduled on 15th September was postponed to 16th due to mid examinations. One of the first things you learn when you're hungry and have no money to eat is that you need to save your money the next time you have it. Your stomach grumbles and growls and you realise, in that sudden moment of clarity brought from hunger and anger - an emotion I like to call angry - that you should have saved any money that came your way.

But of course, now that you didn't, something needs to be done about it. Some wise man once said when a man is hungry, he has only one problem, as opposed to when he isn't, which is when he has infinite.

The more important and long term lessons on what you learn from hunger is that you are prone to make irrational decisions when you are hungry. A thief steals, at first of course, because he is hungry. You make poor financial choices and refuse to learn how to cook because you believe money will always be there and that you can always order food, which in itself is a flawed notion.

What hunger can teach you is survival. It is, without a doubt, one of our earliest instincts. Hunger has lead man to seek the impossible, run miles and hunt animals. Some tribes in Africa still practice this, they mark and hunt their prey over a hundred miles, running all the time.

The essence, then, is to learn how you can survive without going hungry in this world. Hunger teaches you to be ambitious and to learn, understanding that you won't go hungry again, to live a life where you can have 3 square meals per day at the very least.

Because life, at the end of the day, is about doing what makes you happy and making sure that you earn enough to live comfortably and eat properly.
"}]

According to a release published on Medical Express, for the first time ever, researchers have devised a way of connecting the human brain to the internet in real time. Seems awesome right?. It’s been dubbed the “Brainternet” project, and it essentially turns the brain “…into an Internet of Things (IoT) node on the World Wide Web.”

The project works by taking brainwave EEG signals gathered by an Emotive EEG device connected to the user’s head. The signals are then transmitted to a low cost Raspberry Pi computer, which live streams the data to an application programming interface and displays the data on an open website where anyone can view the activity. Adam Pantanowitz, a lecturer in the Wits School of Electrical and Information Engineering and the project’s supervisor, said:

Brainternet is a new frontier in brain-computer interface systems. There is a lack of easily understood data about how a human brain works and processes information. Brainternet seeks to simplify a person’s understanding of their own brain and the brains of others. It does this through continuous monitoring of brain activity as well as enabling some interactivity

Intellectual Muscle

Pantanowitz said this is just the beginning of the possibilities of the project. He adds that the team is now aiming to allow for a more interactive experience between the user and their brain. Some of this functionality has already been built into the site, but it is very narrow — limited to stimulus such as arm movement. “Brainternet can be further improved to classify recordings through a smart phone app that will provide data for a machine-learning algorithm. In future, there could be information transferred in both directions – inputs and outputs to the brain,” Pantanowitz said.

Future applications for this project could lead to some very exciting breakthroughs in machine learning and brain-computer interfaces like Elon Musk's Neural Lace and Bryan Johnson's Kernel(search abt then to get interesting info). Data collected from this project could lead to a better understanding of how our minds work and how we can take advantage of that knowledge to augment our brain power.

In the future your brain may even process through data acquired from the internet like like acquiring knowledge directly through internet and it won't be"world in your hands" anymore , it would be "world in your brains".

Thank you for reading ;-)

1505561085788
txt
txt
rich_1505481554396
I have always heard people saying me, everyone does engineering when they don't have a option. You can read the travesty of an article here.
Initially, this blog piece was supposed to be a point by point deconstruction of the reporting published in the above-mentioned article. But as I kept reading, it kept getting progressively worse, its content ranging from half-truths to outright lies.
As the article opens, it informs the readers that investigation into Chandini Jain's murder has revealed the harmful effects of Social Media, which is fine so far, considering that social media is indeed dangerous if you are friends with the wrong sorts, especially for impressionable teenagers. Following this, however, the article goes on to describe a 52 member party in a Hotel in the city. The way it is described, the report for Times made it sound like it was a hedonistic paradise where underaged kids were served alcohol and - I need you to sit down for this because it is quite earth shattering - where boys and girls shared rooms for three straight days.
What the report describes is a Model United Nations, which the report does mention and then promptly ignores for the rest of the article, which spends half its words describing it like it was a hippie party straight out of the 1960s. The reporter didn't even bother googling Model United Nations, the first result on google is the following: Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences, which is usually organized by a high school or college MUN club

The report then goes on to say that the minors were served alcohol by the hotel authorities during the evening parties, of which there is zero evidence. There is absolutely nothing that suggests that the hotel authorities specifically served the kids alcohol, and come to think of it, why would a hotel risk doing such a thing? This is a country where a couple cannot rent a room in a hotel without showing a marriage certificate, why on earth would they risk serving minors alcohol?
It is possible, and I'm saying possible, not probable, that a few of the 52 teenagers present for the MUN could have sneaked in some alcohol because surprise! teenagers aren't exactly known for their critical thinking skills and you try telling a teenager not to do something, that does not mean that the hotel authorities are responsible, nor am I absolving them of guilt.
From here on, the article goes on to accuse the teenagers of being addicted to social media like Snapchat, Facebook and Whatsapp (where the target audience of this article will share it fervently because irony died a thousand deaths already), even going as far as saying that the number of likes matters to such teenagers. I do not even know where to begin with this.
Which teenager isn't social media savvy these days? All of them are online, all of them have moved on from Facebook because their families are on it and are on Snapchat or Instagram because a teenager needs and deserves their privacy, even if it is to make mistakes. Now, I understand that this might not always be the case, especially for those working in the print or online media, when they have to churn out an article as soon as possible. Considering how much I've heard that Times of India is a high-pressure workplace (as it should be), I understand that it is not always possible to sit down and research about something before writing about it.
But to this level? This doesn't read like an objective article written by a reporter, it reads like someone with an agenda and outdated notions of today's youth wrote it with an obvious bias, painting teenagers as uncontrollable rage monsters who care about their appearance and social media more than their own lives. The target audience of this 'news' article, once you retrospect after reading, seems clear: the Whatsapp Uncle Network filled with fake forwards believing uncles and overbearing aunties with more concern than brains. I won't be surprised if this makes it to your family's WhatsApp group, even as you roll your eyes and groan.
This is the era of post-truths. The lie is the truth and the truth doesn't matter. Times like these, I'm reminded of the saying, 'In the Age of the Internet, ignorance is a personal choice'. A hit piece so obviously worded to appeal to the overly patriarchal and conservative society will only serve to further alienate teenagers from their parents in a time when teens and parents need to work together and actively try to understand each other.
Hit pieces like these will continue to find traction as long as parents treat their teenagers like babies that just crawled out of the crib and not like actual people with likes, dislikes, desires and crushes. It's perhaps time for parents to trust their children so they open up to them more than to read hit pieces like these and decide, just like the last time when drugs were the talk of the town in Hyderabad, that their children are doing everything that is being reported on the news.
I know you're reading this, mom.

txt
rich_1505466045623
We've let mass media, print media and even people around us tell us that we need to stay motivated to achieve our goals and become successful.
Well guess what, motivation is overrated. Try as we might, humans simply cannot be machines of positivity, we have our moods and they sour or gladden depending on the day or our surroundings. There is a certain process to this thing.
Use your motivation to develop a set of things you do with perfect discipline, that you do no matter what happens, every day. Like sleeping on time, or brushing twice a day, or showering twice a day. Or resolving to yourself that you will have non-zero days and actually going through with it.
Develop discipline, motivation will automatically follow, it is just that simple.
So the next time you're waiting to do something and complain about the lack of motivation, remember that even when you do have motivation there is no guarantee that it will stay with you for a long time. Which is why it is essential for you to put a system in place where you not only finish tasks on time, but you get to keep your own word to yourself, ensuring you have a more positive outlook on life in general, which further translates into you becoming a more positive and motivated person.
Motivation is overrated, develop discipline today.
"}] Published in clg-short-name Waiting for the approval by Admin Terms and conditions Message OK

The police quickly swung into action and arrested a minor and a long time friend of hers, who later confessed the crime.
It is said that the heaviest coffins are the smallest.

Brain Meets IoT

A team of researchers at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa have made a major breakthrough in the field of biomedical engineering.

1505561085788
txt"}]

I have always heard people saying me, everyone does engineering when they don't have a option. That's the thing about engineering it gives you a option when you don't have any. They always said me become a doctor it's a prestigious position and a single mistake by doctor it can kill the patient, a single mistake by civil engineer can kill thousands at a go. So doesn't that mean even engineers are saving life? Even engineering is a prestigious position. People often mistake that no one comes to engineering with passion, engineering can be a passion, a passion to get things together.
"ENGINEERS ARE BEYOND ENGINEERING"

The Engineering Community across India is celebrating Engineers Day on 15 September every year as a remarkable tribute to the greatest Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (popularly known as Sir MV). He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India.

On account of this day our college has conducted special events. There were both technical and non technical events. Technical events were quiz, treasure hunt, bug bounty all related to computer languages. There was a start up project competition where students came up with different models of their ideas. It was truly wonderful to watch all the talents burst out. I was quite amazed and excited to watch the models work. All of the participants did a wonderful job.Events like poster presentation, newsletter were held by IT Dept.
The non technical events were Debate, Just a minute ,essay writing and badminton. The debate was very enthusiastic with participants standing up to their points. Essay writing the topic was qualities of a engineer. And JAM as usual never failed to amaze people with their speeches. The most cheerful and craziest competition was batminton. The hidden talent in sports at such a massive level is a wonder. The rules and the fun kept the excitement in everyone till the end.Dancing and singing are always the students favourite.

At the end of the day we had KALPANA 2017 and inauguration of IFS body of Stanley by Shri Rajesh Kumar, Scientist of DRDO, DRDL. There was speech by Dr. Ling Reddy ,IETE Hyderabad center. The whole event was organised in presence of our beloved principle Dr. Satya Prasad Lanka and our director Dr. Vinay babu sir. I'm 20 years old. I shouldn't already be tired of life.

And what freedom is that? Always shackled to society's expectations, always seen as vulnerable. Men walk on the street at night freely, but when I do the same, it is seen as an invitation to molest me, to harass me, to rape me.

Which brings us to Times of India and the direction this blog piece - which I'll freely admit is more of a rant - is heading.

On the 14th of September, yesterday during the time of this piece's publication, the Times of India, an organisation that has been around since the 19th century, posted a piece titled, '3-day party, 52 minors, flowing booze: Chandini death exposes dark underbelly of social media.'

"}]
We've let mass media, print media and even people around us tell us that we need to stay motivated to achieve our goals and become successful.

Well guess what, motivation is overrated. It is a fickle beast that abandons you when you need it the most. This is in no way saying that motivation doesn't work, it does work and wonderfully at that, but when you need it the most, it is gone. You can't find it, you then proceed to tell yourself that because you are not motivated, you cannot finish certain task or your body refuses to go on.

Which is why motivation is so unreliable, and also why we must develop a system that ensures we do what we are meant to do on time. There's a simple answer to this.

Motivation is a passing cloud that provides shade from the unforgiving Sun very briefly, but to achieve actual shelter and be comfortable with who you are as a person, you need fortitude, moral and physical, both of which can be achieve by one singular trait that so many of us lack: Discipline.

This is not to say Motivation is useless, it is still a very useful feeling/emotion that pushes you to do your best, but it is not omnipresent.

"}]
