It is said that humans are like books, everyone has their own story, but unless you flip open the cover and start reading, you don't really know what the story is. Keeping this in mind, back in the year 2000, Ronni Abergel and his brother Dany and colleagues Asma Mouna and Christoffer Erichsen started a human library as a project in Copenhagen, where people with stories to tell would be books, and readers could 'borrow' them and talk to them for a preset amount of time.

It wasn't long before it spread across the world, and here, in Hyderabad, a young 24-year-old decided to do something about it. The Common Law Admission Test is an annual exam for admissions into 18 prestigious national law universities, with the responsibility of conducting the test shifting every year, falling on Chanakya National Law University, Patna this year.

Written post 12th or Intermediate, the test is a gate an aspiring lawyer must jump to gain admissions into the premier law universities across the country. Here's how one can prepare for the CLAT

1. Do not panic

I know your boards just ended but if you panic now, you're gonna have a hard time studying. Apart from stating the obvious however, it is important to remember to make the most of the 12 days leading up to the exam, the how is listed in this article.

2. English is your best friend.

Reading comprehension will help you tremendously. This isn't something you will develop overnight but make sure to make a habit of reading the newspaper regularly and a ton of reports and books will help you get better with reading comprehension. Including comprehension, English is a 40 mark section that you can and should use to score high marks.

3. Understanding Legal Aptitude and General Knowledge

The 50 mark section of the CLAT is perhaps the one where most students suffer. However, with the right amount of preparation and knowing what you should cover, you can tackle this section successfully without fear of losing marks to negative marking. Many experts believe that students panic and try to study all of IPC and CrPC, which is quite counter productive. The generally agreed upon consensus is that

Criminal Law

Indian Constitution

Contract Act

Law of Tort

are the most frequently asked questions in CLAT. So focus your energies properly and you're good to go.

As for GK, there's really no set syllabus for this, except that you should remember important events in recent history, awards given, medals won, UN's functioning and it's work. For someone who reads the newspaper regularly this should not be a problem.

4. Know thy question

There is negative marking in CLAT. 1 mark for right answer, -0.25 if you answer it wrong. However, if you leave it unanswered, you get 0 marks, which means it is much better to make an educated guess than to blindly mark the answer. If you don't know something, leave it as it is, there's no point losing marks over it.

The City of Pearls has come a really long way since population started springing around the river Musi many hundreds of years ago. There is a rich history of this city, left only to be glimpsed neath the facade of modern electric and internet lines.

Times have changed, but some things have remained the same over the years, with new experiences only adding to the ever growing list of things that add to the uniqueness of the city. So, keeping this in mind here's a list of the unique experiences you can only find in Hyderabad.

1. Irani Chai

Hyderabad's Irani Chai is ridiculously famous, with famous cafes in the city serving some of the best tea you'll ever have. Places like Nimrah at Charminar and Cafe Nilofur near the hospital of the same name have been around for decades, and still are committed to serving the best chai possible. However, Christopher Nolan's movies are still shot in 70MM IMAX format, so Prasads IMAX was the only screen in India to play the true IMAX experience of Interstellar.

Movie buffs from across the country travelled to Hyderabad just to catch the movie on the screen, and what an experience it was. It is always a pleasure to listen to stories of student bands that find success, but often people forget that the road to that success is long and arduous. A person, let alone a student, requires the dedication and time it needs to become proficient with the instrument of their choice, and then start performing shows. We speak to one such student band that have no only honed their craft but are all set to perform at Hard Rock Cafe on May 4th.

We caught up with the band preparing for their upcoming gig for a talk, here is what they had to say!

"We started quite recently, and this won't be our first time performing live on stage, we've all been in different bands before, performing live across Hyderabad, but this is the first time all of us are coming together as The Detour," says Niteesh Kondiparthi.

On being asked how he started his journey, 23-year old bassist Sagar Ramchandruni said, "I've always wanted to be a bassist, I knew back in college itself that this is what I wanted to do. I started learning in 2011 and haven't looked back since then. Since then, I've done shows across Hyderabad, and the upcoming show is going to be my 4th at Hard Rock Cafe, but first with The Detour."

Our conversation with Niteesh led to discussing the band's musical influences, "We're influenced a lot by classic rock. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chilli Peppers for example. However, with The Detour, we aren't restricting ourselves to strictly one genre; we also perform blues, sometimes regional songs" says Niteesh.

Akshay Kore, the drummer, only started learning how to play in December 2014, "He learned how to play and became proficient in a very short time," says Aditya Ravikanti, a student of B.Com at St. Mary's College, about the band's drummer.

We asked the band what their advice to their fellow students and peers would be. Niteesh responded by channelling Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl's quote about Nirvana, "We got together and jammed, and it sucked, but we eventually got better", whereas Aditya Ravikanti laughed and said, "If you think you've done enough practice, you're wrong."

Sagar further elaborated on their advice to students, "If you're a student band and you want to make it big, you've got to stick to the music you're making. No amount of making covers will help in telling you how you sound like. You can only find your sound when you're making music on your own. So go slow, and believe in yourself."

It was not long ago that a student from Columbia University embarked on an individual crusade against her rape by a male member of the same institute. This was neither the first case and would not be the last case of harassment to happen in the context of college campuses, in supposed “safe spaces” for learning. I guess, the awakening call would come by the context of the #HokKolorob movement by the pupils in Jadavpur University, pupils who couldn't bear to see the molestation of a female student go unanswered.
However, the ball has kept rolling since, then. In a world where the “Brave girl” statue in wall street, seemingly facing off the capitalist regime driven by the “Raging Bull” remains a source of eternal debate, and where people like Brock Turner can escape with a pat in the back. Here, these art pieces a vocal protest against the institutionalised crime. “Institutionalised”? You ask? After the vocal participation in the movement by the survivors, the university takes little steps, and even refuses to form a centralised committee for the same.

The rampant discrimination runs so deep that there are complaints coming in still. There is still violence being documented. We need to acknowledge this. That our universities which we prided on, for being pristine institutions without any problems, have a lot of problems in their own, problems that run all the way up the authority. And we need to take steps.

A reminder, you can also write into WASH, by following the direction given in their facebook page, come up with complaints of the violence you face. Make movements bigger, and succeed
"}]
The much awaited movie Bahubali released yesterday and has already been overbooked for the next few days. Sadly, the makers released it in the exam season and we all have some sadistic friends who will make our lives hell if we don't take them along for the movie. So what exactly happens if you don't invite your sadistic friend

If you spend a lot of your time on the computer and your work involves a lot of typing, you haven't lived until you've experienced a mechanical keyboard. If you have, and wanted to buy one yourself but stopped because of the insane prices of the 'gaming' grade mechanical keyboard, worry not, because India's very own TVS Gold Bharat Mechanical Keyboard is the cheapest mech keyboard on the market, and also one of the best.

Let me be clear with this, this review will sound like I've gone slightly insane with how much I'm praising a keyboard, of all things, but I'm quite serious when I say this: typing on this mechanical keyboard has been some of the most joyous moments in my writing career. The satisfying sounds it makes, the way the keyboard clicks into places when you press a button and the fact that no matter how many buttons you press, it's still gonna handle it like a champ because that's what mechanical keyboards do.

Let's be clear with one thing, there is a marked difference between using a mechanical keyboard and a membrane keyboard, which many people only know as the regular old keyboard available for a few hundred rupees. A membrane keyboard has a sheet under the keys which is used to transmit commands and type, whereas a mechanical keyboard does not rely on any membrane and the input is more direct. The lack of a membrane also greatly helps in making typing more comfortable, satisfying and fun.

As is the case with any mechanical keyboard, the keys are removable and replaceable. The button switches are a little thin, but then that's expected for a budget mechanical keyboard that is still the best in business in India.

The keyboard is a full 104 key sized board, and it is huge compared to the traditional keyboards you see in various internet cafes, your laptop and sometimes you own desktop PC. The large size gives you ample room to work, allowing you to position your hands comfortably and get to work. In fact, this review is being typed on a Mac with the TVS Gold connected to it via USB.

I cannot really think of a big negative point about these keyboards at all, for the price it is sold at, it does more than enough and is a bang for your buck. The only disadvantage I can see is that it is as loud as a traditional mechanical keyboard, and if you're someone who enjoys working in the night unless you close your room, you're gonna wake the entire house up due to the loudness of the keyboard. The second negative that I can think of is that the keys are not backlit, but for the price point, it does more than enough, so the complaint is more like a nitpick.

The build quality is extremely sturdy. In case the world ends tomorrow, you can use the TVS Gold as a weapon to defend yourself, it is that sturdy.

Final thoughts

TVS has been making these keyboards for well over 20 years, which obviously means that they know what they're doing with the keyboard. I remember seeing these keyboards for the first time at my mother's office and I've been a fan ever since. If you need a keyboard to make your work on the computer much easier, if you're a writer or a coder that prefers using a desktop, if you're someone who needs precision timing in commands issued while gaming, this is the keyboard for you. Buy it without a second thought, because once you go mech, you never go back.

Sundays can be really fun but the impending doom of Monday can often dampen the spirits, making your happiness meter get progressively worse as the day progresses, but hey, you don't have to have a bad Sunday. Here are a few tips on how to make your Sundays more fun, as told from my perspective because why not.

1. Sleep it off

This is my favourite option, tell your family to leave food at your door, lock yourself in and just sleep it off. Sleep till afternoon, then wake up, eat food, then sleep some more. Repeat until Monday comes.

2. Practice a hobby

Life can get incredibly dull when you're stuck in a routine, and we owe ourselves more than just lying around doing nothing (unless you're sleeping), so it's a good idea to pick up and practice a hobby. The key thing to remember here is that Rome wasn't built in a day, so make the most of your Sunday and practice, maybe even engage in hobby related activities with other people.

3. Spend time with your family

In this age of Internet where people are increasingly spending more time online than with their family, it is important to remember to communicate with your family as much as possible and discuss the problems you're facing. Sometimes their years of experience can be quite handy.

4. Explore the city

If you have an interest in photography, it can offer you a great chance to go around and explore the city, to capture the history, the people and the food of the city or town you live in. Even if you aren't a photographer, make it a quest to find the quietest possible spot in the city just for some peace and quiet!

5. Volunteer with NGOs

There's various NGOs around the city with volunteers that work on the weekends, like Make a Difference for example. Join one and do your bit to make India a happier place!
