[{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1493210230242","data":"It is said that service to man is service to God, and if there is one organisation under the government that adopts this ideal into their daily life, it is the NSS. <\/p>The National Service Scheme, launched in Mahatma Gandhi's centenary year (1969) is now spread across the country in many colleges, with their motto being 'Not me, but you'<\/i>  a motto they've been true to as seen by their actions. Every year, the NSS awards the best volunteers from across the country in a ceremony. We speak to Boranchu Manish Reddy, selected for the Best NSS Volunteer award for this year.<\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1493211794262","data":"59009d43b4e87"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1493211796028","data":"Manish, a final year student of CVSR College, joined the NSS in his first year, \"I've always been interested in service, and serving fellow humans is one of the best things you can do for the society,\" says the young student. From volunteering various camps to organising them, Manish has been involved in conducting blood donation camps, eye camps and adopting villages and conducting 7 programs in 7 days. <\/p>In fact, such is his dedication to service, in 2015, Manish Reddy was awarded the best blood donor award, for regularly donating his blood, as soon as he is able.  <\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1493211993067","data":"59009ba130f19"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1493211999065","data":"Manish very humbly points out that he isn't the only winner of the best volunteer award, \"Many people across various colleges applied for the award, but 8 people from Telangana were selected. Of the 8, I'm the only one from JNTU,\" he says, before talking about his time in NSS, \"I've been involved in various events conducted by the NSS. I was also one of the few selected to go to the pre-Republic Day Parade, which in turn has selections for the NSS parade during Republic Day.\"<\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1493212162392","data":"59009c495836d"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1493212173365","data":"We asked Manish what his advice to students who want to follow in his footsteps would be, and he promptly replied, \"There is only one thing I want to say, really. If you want to serve the nation and it's people, do not do it just for the sake of. Love what you're doing, and do what you love.\"<\/p>An inspiration to many students, especially his juniors, we can only hope more students take Manish Reddy as their inspiration and focus on service and consider joining the NSS.
