It is said that service to man is service to God, and if there is one organisation under the government that adopts this ideal into their daily life, it is the NSS.

The National Service Scheme, launched in Mahatma Gandhi's centenary year (1969) is now spread across the country in many colleges, with their motto being 'Not me, but you' a motto they've been true to as seen by their actions. Every year, the NSS awards the best volunteers from across the country in a ceremony. We speak to Boranchu Manish Reddy, selected for the Best NSS Volunteer award for this year.

Manish, a final year student of CVSR College, joined the NSS in his first year, "I've always been interested in service, and serving fellow humans is one of the best things you can do for the society," says the young student. If you want to serve the nation and it's people, do not do it just for the sake of. Love what you're doing, and do what you love."

An inspiration to many students, especially his juniors, we can only hope more students take Manish Reddy as their inspiration and focus on service and consider joining the NSS. We wish Manish Reddy all the best for his future endeavours.
"}]

With exam season hanging just above our heads, ready to drop any moment, it is important to remember these few points and make sure you check them off as the date for the exams approach.

1. Check equipment

You do not want to be caught off guard in final sprint to the exams, and especially on the day of the exam itself. Keep a regular check on your equipment, always put it in the same place you picked it up from so it's easier to find again, and hiss at anyone who tries to tell you your room is a mess. They don't understand that their is beauty in chaos, but I digress.

One of the worst things that can happen on exam day is you misplacing something crucial, like a calculator or carrying a malfunctioning pen with you. Take care of your equipment, people.

2. Follow Time Table to the letter

We've been talking about this for weeks now, but always have a time table and be ready to tackle issues head on so you don't panic at the end. Study now, chill and revise later, and right before the exam, give yourself a day or two for the full scoop.

3. Eat Healthy

As someone who was quite reckless with his health, trust me when I say this, take care of your health before the exams. Check with your friends and professors if you need something explained to you fast and quickly. 5. Sleep

It's sad that I even have to type this out. Sleep is probably the most important thing you can do before an exam, and you can do it peacefully as well if you follow your time table perfectly. Waking up fresh in the morning and going to the exam hall as sharp as a samurai sword will always put you in a better position than staying up all night and barely managing to write your exam because of lack of sleep.

Srinivasa Ramanujan was one of India's greatest minds, a peerless genius who was ahead of his time, surprising many eminent mathematicians from across the world. Today, his life has also been turned into a Hollywood movie starring Dev Patel in the role of the quite and shy genius of math, titled The Man Who Knew Infinity, and know he did.

So today, on the anniversary of his birth, let us take a look at his greatest contributions to Mathematics

1. Letters to G. H. Hardy

Ramanujan, with the help of his friends, had written letters and sent his theorems to professors in England in the late 1900s and early 1910s. While many professors returned his papers without comment, G. H. Hardy couldn't believe his own eyes. Hardy at first thought that the papers from from a potential fraud, but then later concluded that nobody would posses the imagination to conjure up the theorems Ramanujan had proved.

3. Ramanujan Notebooks

Following his death at the young age of 32, Srinivasa's brother collected his papers and his notebooks to publish them, which he did. It is considered one of the most important works of modern mathematics. But many of his notes were still lost and discovered later, and as such, there are 4 notebooks of his that have been published since then. The publication of the notebooks also gave rise to a popular misconception that Ramanujan couldn't solve the theorems but wrote the final result directly, but this is not true, as there is no reason for Ramanujan to write the proof in his own notes without having to explain it to someone.

This has also earned him the nickname: The Man Who Know Infinity.

5. Hardy–Ramanujan Number (1729)

A bit of a story, this one. During his time in England and at Cambridge University, Ramanujan would often fall sick due to various health issues. During one such period where he was sick, his Academic Advisor and fast friend G. H. Hardy went to see him in a taxicab bearing the number 1729. When Hardy remarked that 1729 was a dull number, and that he hoped it wasn't a bad omen, to which Ramanujan replied, "No, it is a very interesting number; it is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two cubes in two different ways."

Recounting his anecdote years later, Hardy quoted Professor Littlewood, his colleague and Ramanujan's other academic advisor, that 'every positive integer was Ramanujan's personal friend.'

Lab external is actually one of the most difficult exams for students. In this article I'm going to write about how students face problems in a lab external exam and the funny things they do.

1.Unexpected Questions:

External faculty are very clever that they can scare the students by giving unexpected and indirect questions. They will ask to write programs which are not executed in lab hours. The amount of over action done by lab assistants is directly proportional to the questions they give in the exam.

2.Unexpected Answers:

Students are cleverer than the external faculty. Students write the answers unexpected for the unexpected questions. Haha! Students always hardly prepare 2 or 3 experiments or programs and they will write those answers, but not regarding the questions. After seeing our program lab external faulty will make a headbang and almost about to faint.

3.The Pokers:

Toppers always find the questions very easy and they answer them so quickly. The backbenchers always poke them for the answers and they will be caught to the invigilators. If invigilator ask "what are you asking for" then students reply "I was asking for a pencil sir"!.

4.Accurate Values:

It's very hard to execute a program on external exam though students have executed them in lab hours. Few will write the output values which are opted from the toppers. Students rarely executes a program or an experiment in an external exam due to nervousness. They opt values from toppers and plot them on the graphs without executing the program or experiment.

5.The VIVA:

And here comes a chance to prove our acting skills and dialogue writing skills. We make funny expressions for whatever the external ask. We will become dumb after listening to their questions. We will feel like sitting in an oven during viva session. After finishing the viva, next batch students will interview you about the whole examination and viva session. Sarcastically we will say that external is very easy and viva session ran smoothly. And the music starts for the next batch.
"}]
