Maha Shivaratri is one of the most important festival of Hindu. The literal meaning of shivaratri is "The Great Night of Lord Shiva". According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated in the Varanasi in the dark fortnight or Krishna Paksha at the 13th night or 14th day of the month Maatha or Phalguna (month of february or march according to the english calendar) to worship the Shivalingam to make happy the Lord Shiva.

According to most prevalent legend of Maha Shivaratri, during the great mythical churning of the ocean- Samudra Manthan conducted by the gods and demons for obtaining nectar to make them immortal, first a pot of poison emerged. The poison was so potent that nobody was ready to even touch it as it had the power to burn up the whole world.

It was decided that the only one who would help them get rid of this poison was lord shiva. So they all went to him for help, and shiva promptly agreed to consume the poison. However, the poison was so deadly that even if a drop had entered lord Shiva's stomach (his stomach represents the universe), it would have annihilated the whole world.

Shiva carefully held the poison in his throat which turned blue due to the effect of the poison, and so he came to known as Neelkanth. Maha Shivaratri is celebrated as a day of gratitude to lord shiva for protecting the world from this deadly poison.

At Maha Shivaratri, many people observe a fast on this day. At the evening they consume fruits. Many devotees stay up all night, while some others visit shiv temples. Kashi Vishwanath temple gets congregated by the young and old devotees from the very early morning. They come to the temple to perform the puja of traditional Shivalingam and hope to get what they have prayed to the god. They take bath in the holy water of the Ganga (symbol of the purity) early in the morning before sunrise and wear a clean clothes after the sacred bath.

Every worshiper brings a pot full of holy Ganga water to the temple to offer the Shivalingam and pour water on the Shivalingam. Some also pour cow milk on the Shivalingam. Worshipers also apply three horizontal lines of holy ash on their forehead just like the lord shiva which represent spiritual knowledge, cleanliness and penance. They wear garland made up of Rudraksha (seeds of Rudraksha tree) while worshiping the lord shiva. It is believed that Rudraksha tree was originated from tears of lord shiva.

Shivaratri is also considered as the wedding day of the Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati.

College life is known as one of the most memorable years of one's life. It is entirely different from school life. College life exposes us to new experiences and things that we were not familiar with earlier. For some people, college life means enjoying life to the fullest. While for others, it is time to get serious about their career.

College life experience is truly one of a kind. The most common memories people have of college life are definitely goofing around with friends. They remember how the group of friends walked around the college in style and playing silly pranks on each others.

Moreover, people always look back at the times spent in the college canteen. It was considered the hub of every student where they enjoyed eating and chatting away with their friends.

Another college life experience I have seen people cherish the most in the annual fest. The annual fest created so much excitement and buzz amongst the students.

I still remember my first day of college. I was so excited in meeting new people. It was a bit difficult at first time to be with people I never knew. I dint know how I should behave just to fit in. But eventually, everything went smoothly. I met wonderful friends whom are still my best buddies even till now.

I believe, college is a training ground on how to be successful and become good people. College life is a master blend of happiness, enjoyment grater sense of responsibility and hardwork. We attend lectures, work in labs, take tution and prepare for tests. During a class, a teacher keeps us busy in the lesson but he has the tricks of creating some humor. He does so to relieve us of stress and pressure.

College education is an investment very worth it, a college degree will open many and many doors and it will offer so many opportunities to achieve your financial success.

What is Social Interest?

The ability to use the internet to connect with new people, expressing yourself and finding interesting ideas and information.

Social interest was the main foundation of every social media app, which is so powerful. But the problem came when social media was looked like an industry. Every CEO was pushed to make 100x in revenue to survive, to IPOs and attract investors as there were ventures backing them all along. They started to reengineer 7 or 8 years ago to change the experience and make people stay on them more. This made the invention of like button, tags, favorites, etc., which change everything for the people from “I posted my friend posted this” to “I opened and there are people waiting for social approval”.

This made all SM companies started to study users as Data factories to show us things we prefer to see to make us stare more on the screen so that they can produce revenue. By using the research came from the casinos gambling of Las Vegas called slot machine analogy to reengineer the social media apps to make us stay more on the apps. Like button was used for this purpose though data vectors.

3 things seem to be happening due to this:

• By doing the liking, tagging and scrolling all day will keep us away from higher-quality pursuits where we can use the free time to improving ourselves and make us better.

• We suppress our drive to be social (go out and meet, interacting with people invest time which is called social snacking) and replace it with liking and tagging because it’s easy. Our brain doesn’t recognize this as actual real-life interactions where we put time and attention for strength or connection. That’s why we see an increase in studies were increased social media use correlates with an increase in loneliness and depression.

• We need solitude. we to need, on a regular basis, time alone with our thoughts not only just processing inputs of other people. If we get rid of every time of the moments of solitude by scrolling while you’re bored, which not good for the brain, and one of the side effects is anxiety. That’s why most people deal with low-grade anxiety that everyone is taking for granted.

Anxiety is the brain yelling, “I need some time with myself and be away from inputs because I can’t always process inputs from other minds. I need to look things around me and think” and you need to do this every day. But we tend to do this to get away from discomfort. But interestingly, to do things important for the flourish of humans are tend with some discomfort.

As we evolution what was the solution for doing this thinking and processing things around us was to get was these drives. But Part of the problem with modern technology is it short-circuited these drives. We have the drive of sociality being out there, putting in time and efforts and make connects with family and friends but we short-circuited with Instagram and Facebook and drive of boredom which is the main driver for us to go out and make us do high-quality stuff that makes us feel alive but we have these distractions on mobile with short-circuited our drive which gives immediate response to boredom.

These drives should have been the thing that pushes us into discomforts which is the source of flourishment of you into a better you. That’s where we have to balance the use of the internet.

We have to understand is that when we’re bored we used to have the motivation to do new things, but we have to be careful as being aware of not feeling that boredom constantly with social media which will reduce the motivation to go out and find more things to do.
"}]
Yes thinking should be changed..this title raises a lots of ques in u ..but atlast u will a great answer.....In this I mentioned some incidents n that too one incident which have seen it.
Our india got independence in 1947 because of great leaders. But till now women didn't get any independanc No girl can walk on d road at midnight because of scareness. We all heard about women rape cases like...1. Nirbhaya rape case 2. Kathua rape case 3.disha case
Not only these several rape cases had happened. varios protests have been held &police investigations also but d rapes are still happening

''Doesn't d rapes be stopped? Doesn't d women get independence? Will these rapes continue further??''
We all love our country.. right? In our india we have east, west, north, south.. but we don't treat like diff divisions because india is one.we r indians .it is ours.at present generation we treat girls n boys equal.each have equal importance in any of fields.
But why these rapes? Do we have any right to kill others? Is it there in any Indian section? Or else is it a fundamental right? ......One day I and my frnds traveling in a bus. The bus is totally filled up with passengers. One elder woman is standing as there r no seats to sit. One board is attached there, stating that respect women & please give seat to them . That elder woman is standing beside a seat where one teenage boy is sitting. But no passenger in that bus give place to that woman ...then wt is d need of putting those quotes for women? Is it useful? Saying quotes or putting d quotes on walls is not imp following them is imp..

Because of these issues happening in society, most of the women are afraid to walk single on roads or to do a single journey. Not only that every girl parents are not accepting to send their child out...

When a girl is alone at any bus stops or in any footpath at midnight's, pleaseee take care of them as you r a brother, father, friend or some good stranger for her..... because remember one thing that '' every boy is a son of her mother... brother of her sister...frnd of one girl... husband of one wife...'' due to these rapes or harsh attempts happening in society, every girl is afraid if she is single in any places and her mind is fed up of scareness of wt will a boy do for her! Fir reducing these type of scareness, every boy thinking should be changed...pls try this ,you can see good results of violence happening against women.
Everyone know that ..We can win other hearts by true love, doing good things or thinking right things with true heart
So change your thinking n think in a positive way then we all can live happily

RAISE HANDS & UNITE TOGETHER THEN WE CAN WIN DEfINATELY. SAFETY BEGINS WITH TEAM WORK

txt
Why we celebrate maha Shiva ratri : There are many mythological legends associated with this day . According to a popular legend, when a hunter could not find anything to kill for his food in a forest, he waited on the branch of a Woodapple tree . In order to attract deer , he started throwing the leaves of the tree on the ground , unaware that there was a Shiva Lingam beneath the tree . Pleased with the Woodapple leaves and the patience of the hunter , it is believed that Lord Shiva appeared in front of the hunter and blessed him with wisdom . From that day onwards, the hunter stopped eating meat . His name is bakta kanapa . Another legend has it that after the Earth was faced with an imminent destruction , Goddess Parvati pledged with Lord Shiva to save the world. Pleased with her prayers , Lord Shiva agreed to save the world on the pretext that the people of the Earth would have to worship him with dedication and passion . From that day onwards , the night came to be known as Maha Shivratri and people began worshipping Shiva with a great enthusiasm . Some folklore also consider this to be Shiva's day as this was believed to be the answer given by Lord Shiva when asked about his favorite day by Goddess Parvati .

txt
rich_1582216639556

The History of Shivratri : Puranas contain many stories and legends describing the origin of this festival .According to one , during the samudra manthan . a pot of poison emerged from the ocean . This terrified the Gods and demons as the poison was capable of destroying the entire world , and they ran to Shiva for help. To protect the world from its evil effects , Shiva drank the deathly poison but held it in his throat instead of swallowing it . This made his throat turn blue , and he was given the name Neelakantha , the blue-throated one . Shivaratri is the celebration of this event by which Shiva saved the world .
"}]
How do we know if we are in control? that we're not just making the best of what comes at us, and that's it. Always trying to constantly pick between two options, like engineering or degree, Coke or Pepsi, Mc Donald's or Burger King. It's like choosing between Lays and Bingo. What difference does it make, even though both give us the same chips? It's all the part of the same blur, just out of the focus enough. It is the illusion of choice. It's either yes or a no, it always comes down to that.

Half of us cannot even choose our own cable, shampoo or even the breakfast we eat or the water we drink. Even if we did would it matter? Our choices are prepaid for us, a long time ago. We are always advised or rather instructed to do things in a way or follow a procedure that someone followed to be successful. Like perusing engineering for a bright future. No parent will advise their child to be a guru but consults one to take their life's biggest decisions.

Every unconventional way of looking at or doing things is often unacceptable by the former successful people. They grew with their very own unconventional methods to be successful. What is success really mean in this society? great grades? A good package job? a happy relationship? we live in a warm messy circle of reality where we rely on each other's mistakes. We manipulate one another, use one another and even relate to one another.

Everyone wants to be noticed and the carving for attention messes up lives. The constant need for approval from others makes us feel better. Working hard for the things we love is slowly departing from our lives, we are doing things just for the sake of approval from the people around us. Everyone has their own personal maze which is they don't want to share with anyone. And the habits we develop just to impress others is just so sad. Everyone is special and are amazing in their own way, don't kill habits just because it has something to do with anyone.

All the things aside, we always have someone who is secretly admiring us for who we are and they support us, and we won't even notice them. Take time and appreciate the people who always support you.

Life is a grand opportunity to be taken advantage of.
