The word "Local" is pronounced with pride in other countries. Why don't we follow the suit?

Local food from native soil is known be more nutritious, healthy and suitable than fancy frozen foods which are imported from thousands of miles away.

Let's see our local product today. It is a part of my diet and I so love it. Instead of getting scolded by our concerned parents about eating junk food, let's use this healthy alternative.

Years ago a magazine mentioned Kareena Kapoor's beauty secret as Fried lotus seeds and food cooked in olive oil. Then we kids never heard of Lotus seeds. We thought it might be an exotic ingredieent available only to the rich.

Today Lotus seeds, Phool Makhani or Fox Nuts are found in the shelves of every super market.

What are these? Why are they being considered a healthy alternative to snacks filled with calories?
These are Sundried , puffed Lotus seeds.

My friend's dad forced her to attend a workshop in an ashram. She came back after a month, she learnt basics of Spanish from her ashram mates. Smart girl. Learnt something from what she didn't like .

Why should we learn foreign languages?

As a fresher you can always be in an advantageous position while job hunting. Employers give preference to a fresher fluent in more languages, preferably one foreign language. A guy was posted in Poland as he was well versed with Polish. He learnt it through the web out of interest. Unexpectedly he is now living in the country he dreamt of.

Learning foreign language can open the lucrative opportunity of Teaching too. Often Foreign language teachers travel to other countries to attend seminars and enhance their skills.

Students who are fond of volunteering can gain an advantage of serving in foreign countries if they know the language. Working abroad is a plus point in the field.

Ages before we all have witnessed 'Basha' - One of the best and the most memorable movies of Rajinikanth in which he played a role of an honest and loyal auto driver who serves people in his own way!

Meet Abdul Khader a real life hero and a humble auto driver who can teach lessons of life in 10 minutes which no school does.

He identifies the customers who board his auto and plays a different kind of tracks mostly old hits, patriotic songs, inspirational songs, spiritual songs and Dharmendra songs according to their choice.

“I can usually gauge within a couple of minutes what kind of music my passenger may like, and I play music accordingly,” said the auto-driver, to a journalist, Mala Kumar.

When asked why Dharmendra Abdul gently replied “Dharmendra has taught me a lot. The characters he played in films always inspired me. I wasn’t very good at studies. When I was eight years old, my father died and I stopped studying. One day, in a spurt of naughtiness, a friend and I stole a couple of sticks of sugarcane from a roadside stall outside a theatre and ran into the theatre to escape being caught. However, we were caught, and I said I just wanted to work at the theatre. So I started doing odd jobs there, and for 14 years, sold chips and popcorn. Apart from that, I worked at an embroidery unit in Shivajinagar. But always, my dream was to own an auto.”

Another special quality of this tender-hearted is that he never speaks out when he is driving and answers his customers only at a signal when the vehicle stops for few seconds.

The interior of the auto is designed in such a way that it awares the passengers regarding SSLC exam schedule, helpline numbers, citizen awareness news, and much more, and another side of auto has statistics about dowry

"The kids are very happy to come in my auto, and I feel happy about it. If a child has a birthday, I get them some chocolates, but always ask them to share it with others. Behind the passenger seat is a decorative branch of leaves. On each leaf, I’m planning to paint the name of each child I take to school on a regular basis,” he said, “adding more leaves as the number of kids goes up.” shares Abdul

He also has a Charging slot, a first aid kit and always keeps a bottle of water in his auto. He always looks after the needs and satisfaction of the customers.

Having run his ‘campaigns’ against dowry, against smoking, and against child marriages, he now wants to put up something about the importance of education for girl children.

"Parents are not emergency fund.

Children are not retirement plans,

Earn your own bucks."

I often come across this quote on Facebook.

In the US, students pay for their college rather than depend on parents.. Our culture is different, but it gives immense satisfaction to be financially independent at a young age.

So when is the right time to start earning?
I would say Now.

Gone are days when depending on parents for pocket money was considered cute.

It is no longer a poor child's trait to be financially independent.

Whatever age group we are, no matter which phase of college we are, we can do many things if we want to.

My friend in Bangalore studies B.Pharma and works as a Sales Girl in malls on weekends. She earns a cool 1000 bucks every weekend, which pays her hostel fee.
She sends some gifts to her parents when she manages more income. Her parents are so proud of her.

Her parents are well-to-do but it doesn't deter her from being independent.

We cannot be managers right away in life. Many of my young friends are delivery boys, telecallers, assistants, and painters. Some take dogs on walks as the pet owners are elderly. There are babysitters too in my friends circle.

They never feel that it's a 'low" job. A hardworking person is respected by all.

Varun is a shy guy.

He never said Hi to anyone by himself.

He has just joined an engineering college where everyone else is bubbling with enthusiasm.

He doesn't speak to anyone except necessary. His replies are all one-word answers...It was rare that he indulged in conversation with anyone.

But he is quite good at studies and painting.

"Strange"

"Weird guy"

"Arrogant that he is intelligent"

"Rude"

"Proud about his looks."

These were the labels given to him. Some students tried to talk to him but in vain.

They named him "Deewar" and never lost an opportunity to tease him.

Have you got any classmate like that? Who just doesn't speak.?

Instead of insulting introverts, we need to accept them as a part of our world where people are famous for talking.
