As the man in white stopped squirming, I grabbed his fancy futuristic looking watch that told me how many people were still left alive on the island.

There were 6 people, including me. My blood ran cold. There were a hundred when we parachuted onto this island, just how many people had been brutally cut down. I couldn't think about it, not just yet. But looking at the number again, I felt my blood run cold as I turned my head to the window and looked outside.

The force barrier was nowhere in sight, which meant I was smack dab right in the middle of the new white zone, which meant that not only were the other 5 survivors in the vicinity, they had most likely heard the gunshot and were making a beeline to the barn right now.

As if a ghost had taken possession of my body, I put a pistol in the white coat's hand, making it look like he had taken his own life, then pushed aside the many bodies that lay in the barn, the aftermath of a firefight I had not even been part of, and pretended to be dead while holding a grenade, ready to throw and fight my way out of there.

A squad of three burst into the barn from different directions.

These people were organised, professional. They moved and cleared rooms methodically like they'd done it a thousand times before before regrouping at the site of massacre that I'd found. Holding the grenade in one hand, I slowly reached for the rifle and pointed it in their general direction, the trigger and my finger hidden under a body and my eyes shut. I was starting to think what I was doing was an exceptionally stupid idea.

'Check the bodies', said a rough voice, a man wearing a combat helmet, gas mask and black overalls, so nice I decided I wanted it for myself.

I couldn't let them risk finding the grenade, it was my insurance policy, and I moved my hand under the corpses out of their sight. They took my SCAR-H, which I'd grown rather fond off, and all the ammo I had in my backpack. I only had once chance to pull this off.

Before I could pull the pin, however, two people rushed into the barn and open fired. The group of three retaliated but the element of surprise caught them and this barn of death where groups would kill each other found more victims to its claim to fame as the survivors went from 5 healthy ones to two who were hiding behind the corner. I couldn't use the grenade now, it would be ineffective, but I had to somehow get them both. Then I saw that they left the gun in the white coat's hand. I checked once again to see if anyone had eyes on me, they didn't, and grabbed the gun. It had its tracer round left in the chamber. I literally only got one shot at this, maybe I'd shoot one, then roll into his weapon and dive forward to shoot in slow motion like some action movie star. But this wasn't that kind of reality.

One of the two survivors was gasping for air, I could hear him, but he was still willing to fight to death. I pushed the bodies aside and killed his assailant with a shot to the forehead, then pulled the pin and held the trigger pin in place as I jumped closer to the survivor.

"I let this go, we both die. I prefer it'd be you"

The man was in no condition to talk. I dropped the grenade anyway.

A loud explosion was followed by a large whooshing sound that seemed like it sucked the air out of the world. It was awfully quiet, I checked the white coat's fancy watch, the number of survivors showed 1.

I was the last woman standing.

What happens next defies my ability to accurately describe what happens. It's as if the very fabric of reality was being chipped away into a light followed by darkness. As the lights went out, I looked at my own body. I was wearing the clothes I was arrested in, my wounds had disappeared and then suddenly, I was in a dark room. I could see a bed dimly lit in the corner.

"Nobody wins on their first try, but you my dear, you are a clear natural." said a familiar voice, I'd heard it on the plane before diving.

A chair was suddenly shoved beneath me and as I fell on it, a table moved into the light of a light bulb that had just descended from the ceiling. On the table was a ready to eat Chicken Dinner.

"Winner winner Chicken Dinner" said the voice.

I looked for the source of the voice, then back at the table , I didn't remember the last time I ate a proper meal. But I have more questions than answers. What on earth was going on?

To be continued...
"}]
When Zack de la Rocha left Rage Against the Machine in October 2000, the band's future was put into question. Within months rumors flew that Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell would replace de la Rocha. And gossip fueled truth, for Cornell joined the rest of Rage in the studio in May 2001. The mix was great and a musical bond was in the making: Cornell, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, and Tom Morello spent the next year writing and recording. By spring 2002, the foursome were no longer going by the Rage Against the Machine name and signed on for Ozzfest. But before the summer tour even got underway, Cornell quit the new project. He claimed it wasn't moving forward in the direction he'd hoped for. The breakdown didn't last, for Cornell rejoined by early fall. After tossing around the idea of being called Civilian, they settled on Audioslave. The single "Cochise," named for the great American Indian chief who died free and unconquered, hit radio in September 2002, and Audioslave's Epic full-length debut was released that November. The self-titled album eventually went multi-platinum on the strength of "Cochise" and the moody rocker "Like a Stone," and Audioslave supported it with gigs that included 2003 Lollapalooza dates.

Cornell, Morello, Wilk, and Commerford returned in May 2005 with Out of Exile, which debuted at number one on Billboard. That same month they played an historic show in Havana, Cuba, that marked that country's first outdoor show by an American rock band (that fall releasing the whole shebang on the Live in Cuba DVD). Exile continued the band's platinum-selling ways -- singles like "Be Yourself" and "Doesn't Remind Me" went to the top of the charts -- and the guys wasted no time following up with album number three, Revelations, in early September 2006. Work on the album took only five weeks, since most of the songs had been fleshed out live over the previous year. In 2007, shortly after the members of Rage announced that they would reunite for that year's Coachella festival, Cornell left Audioslave, citing both personal and musical differences. While on tour with Soundgarden in May 2017, Cornell was found dead in his Detroit hotel room following a show at the city's Fox Theater; he had taken his own life at the age of 52.

While the Bachchan name carries a lot of weight in terms of power and influence today, it always surprises me that not a lot of people know the name was synonymous with arts long before the Angry Young Man of Bollywood would take the industry by the storm in the late 70s. The Bachchan family name would be popularised by the veteran thespian Amitabh Bachchan's father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, whom I considered to be an infinitely more intelligent person than his world famous son, as I'm sure he would agree.

Harivansh Rai Bachchan, as it turns out, is not just famous for giving birth to one of Hindi cinema's greatest actors, but is one of the greatest 20th century Hindi poets to have ever walked this planet. His work transcends time and is relevant even to this day with how astute his observations were, so famous were his poems that he achieved nationwide renown and fame, all with the twist of his pen.

There's plenty of videos online that do a perfect job in narrating his poems as they appear by people better than me, which is why I'll link a YouTube video doing the same at the end of this article for you to enjoy Bachchan Saab's poems. However, let us take a moment to remember one of the greatest literary giants of India on his death anniversary today on January 18th.

Today, we wish everyone on the happy occasion of Makar Sankranti. However, it's only us fauji's who understand and acknowledge the fact that today is also celebrated as The Army day. Even after the immense and flawlessly dedicated efforts of the Indian Army to protect it's country, we fail to appreciate them. And if we get to it, nothing matches the strength, courage and patriotism that these underrated Superheroes have. With this note, let us get to know why's and what's about Army day.

The Indian Army day is celebrated every year on 15th January in the honor of gaining back the rightful power on what was originally ours! Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from the last British Commander-in-Chief General Sir Francis Butcher on 15th January, 1949.

In the past century, there have been many changes that the nation has seen. One such revolutionary change was witnessed by the Indian Army with all hearts filled with nothing but pride and a feeling of strength and control.

Monetarily, the pay scales don’t add up in comparison to the private sector. Your living conditions are taken care of but the same can be made better, specially for the soldiers/jawaans. Welfare associations need to work on that. After the community retires, it has a low support system, which is very disheartening. A veteran rehabilitation program needs to be a reality! They have exceptional skills that could be put to use, if only they knew how to apply it.

This year, we proudly celebrate 69 years of the Indian Army serving the nation with nothing but selflessness. As much as we are all doused in the joys and celebrations of Sankranti, let's take a moment to thank those countless soldiers who have walked the path and who are yet to walk the same in order to protect us.

Happy Makar Sankranti and a very Happy Army day guys!
"}]
I found an abandoned barn which had seen better days, grey and battered due to disrepair and a lack of interest in fixing it, clearly the island had been abandoned for some time to be in this state of decay. The door was ajar and the smell of death lingered in the air, an all too familiar smell by now having brought death and destruction to fellow survivors on the island, some of whom were just trying to get back to their families after being wrongly imprisioned and forced to fight for their lives.

'No', I told myself, 'I cannot allow myself to think about all this, I had to do it to survive.'

But from another dark corner of her mind came a voice, much like her own, but nastier, sneering, 'Is that what you're going to tell yourself?' the voice mocked as I carefully made my way into the barn and heard flies buzzing about ahead, stopping momentarily to shake the voices out of my head. I was definitely going crazy.

But it was too late, the sneering voice had my attention.

'No, go away,' cried the more vulnerable voice, which I decided was whom I was going to side with, 'You cannot stop but confront the truth of your actions, you are a murderer', the sneering voice thundered, 'you tell yourself you're a survivor but where does that stop? After murdering hundreds and thousands of people in the name of survival? Is that what you want to do? It's not like you are even doing anything to help -'

The train of thought was instantly derailed once I heard moaning coming from up ahead. Someone was still alive and the internal quarrel was forgotten, I had no time to think about my next move, the person could be dying and I had to check if there were others nearby. Only, when I peeked over the edge, what I saw straight out of Westworld.

White suits covering the entire body lay about the place, 3 of them, I counted, along with a group of 5 dead survivors, all carrying high tech gear that I could use. But the moaning was coming from a white suit, splattered with blood, the bullet holes prominent on their torso staining the white with a shade of red that only served to make me angrier. I wanted answers.

I cast one sweeping look to the sides, confirming dead marks before rushing to the white suit before he could point his pistol anywhere and punched him in the face with all my might, then pulled off his hood. The man was sweating, there was some blood on his chin and lips, he had been coughing up blood and clearly had little time to live.

"I have a first aid kit that might give you a chance to live," I said coldly, "I need information."

He started laughing, I put a pistol on a bullet hole in his leg and pressed it in, he screamed and begged me to stop, but I didn't want to stop, I wanted to pull the trigger and hurt him further. The sneering voice in my head returned and was egging me on, excited. But I held back. I asked him again, "Who are you, what is this about?"

"We're with Battlegrounds Corporation. Our company was contracted by the government to kill off prisoners on our islands while also providing free entertainment to people who get off on watching you savages murder each other," SMACK!, I punched him again, "Stop that! Stop hitting me!"

"You wanted a savage," I growled, "You got one. Now how do I get out and reach other islands? ANSWER!"

The man let out a whimper and told me it was impossible and when I was about to strike him again, he started laughing, "This is all a simulation you moron. There is no island, you are in a computer program that makes you believe you're on one. We're in a gigantic facility deep underground where you people get to kill each other in rooms, just like Westworld."

I had heard enough, but the man raved on, "You're all animals, savages worthy of nothing but slow deaths, even that is too kind for the likes of you. We are keeping society safe from dangerous minds such as yours, don't you see that you prove our point by being this violent? It's a perfect cycle, you'll never be accepted in society again."

I stood up, it all made sense. I was sick entertainment for a few privileged in society who could afford to pay humans murder each other in a sick and violent display of survival instincts, as if watching the animal kingdom wasn't enough. The government tied up with Battlegrounds Corporations to remove dissidents and troublemakers from society that would rebel against it to strike fear in the rest and keep them quiet, in some cases, there were also entire families sent to jail because a government official wanted to kidnap and forcefully marry a woman he liked. This was what it was about, power.

As I stood up, I pondered on the thought a bit longer. Power, that was what it was about, and here I was standing over one speck of the abuser in power at my feet, injured and raving mad. I had all the power I needed over him and using that power to take his life would make me the abuser instead. I considered my actions and then look at the raving lunatic once again.

I put the gun to his forehead and pulled the trigger.
"}]
How does new knowledge come into being? Sometimes it stems from existing knowledge.Sometimes it is born all out of sudden. Both ways seem to work well. As I see through this question, I believe that what plays a key role in creating new ideas is a passionate interest.Throughout history, myriad of examples help prove the importance of interest.A famous example is that of Newton.A ripe apple from a tree fell onto his head one afternoon, for ordinary people, this kind of trivial instance would slip off their mind at once. However, Newton lost himself in the thought of the relation between objects. Finally, he found gravitation and opened up a new era of physics.

On the other hand, without interest, the opportunity of great discoveries will pass by.Most people are experiencing ordinary lives every day.Why don't they come up with great ideas?Because interest is the state of scepticism. Henceforth, interest serves as a force to propel the explorations of unknowns, to the perfect structure of human knowledge and to move towards the ultimate truth.

The relationship I share with my father is too valuable to be put into words. My father has always been there for me right since my play school days. He is the person who pushed me to try everything in life and not to back away from anything that came as a challenge. His constant dedication towards my interests and hobbies motivated me to pursue the same with more enthusiasm.

He came to witness all the cricket matches I was part of. I still can’t forget his emphatic voice from the stands whenever I got possession of the ball. He used to carry a packet of glucose powder and fruits during my sports day so that whenever he got the chance, he would come running from the stands and hand me those items. His contribution to my studies is also worth mentioning.

He reviewed my homework and I studied science and mathematics under him. I believe that the greatest virtues he taught me were discipline and punctuality. It is because of him that I complete my work in time and with utmost sincerity even today. He taught me not to give in to fear and to face every adversity with a clean and composed mind.

My father is a wonderful human being and a great dad. He made me strive to become a better person each day and he ensured that I did not fall prey to bad intentions. I still go to him before taking any decision in my life. I could not have asked for a better role model than my father.

My Dad is my real hero because he is the most special person in my life. He is a very good athlete & an artist. He is a saree business by profession. At weekends he loves to play with me the whole day.

During weekdays we work hard & spend maximum time working at his office. He is amongst the top ranked employee of his company & has won many awards for the same. He tries his best to keep our family happy. He works hard to make money for our family. He loves me a lot & always tries to cheer me up whenever I am in a sad mood.

There are two kinds of dreams. One which you dream with your eyes closed, and the other with your eyes wide open. People sometimes confuse it with daydreaming. But daydreaming is something which you wish it to come true, but you don’t make any effort for it. By just a wave of the magic wand, you want those dreams to be fulfilled. A dream on the other hand is a strong desire to fulfill something, it is a “VISION”. A vision of better life, a vision of best version of yourself, a vision of HAPPINESS and SATISFACTION by doing what you truly love.

A vision so clear that you can see it every second of day and night. The desire so strong, that you take actions to turn those dreams into reality. You will know that if you don’t work hard now, you will regret it for the rest of your life. Don’t get scared to come out of your comfort zone. There’s a quote saying, “On one side of the line, there are greater chances to make amazing things happen. On the other side, there’s lesser chances”. Gather up courage to cross that line. Don’t wait for the conditions to be right, or for people to discover those hidden gifts of yours. Just do it. Believe in yourself and your vision, and keep moving along the road which might not yet be visible to others.

If you don’t take any action fulfill your dreams, then those dreams are not dreams; they are just daydreams. So take action. The happiness and satisfaction that you will feel in your life when you make your dreams come true is nothing compared to what you have now. You will feel an amplified version of happiness and satisfaction. And why dream small when you can dream BIG. Every success story starts with a dream.

Campus Recruitment Training (CRT) is one of the essential things an engineer has to attend in the 3rd year of his 4 years of technical journey, according to colleges. This is supposed to prepare a young, soon to be engineer, student to cope with the changing needs and trends of the real world. This lends a huge hand to the student in getting better at things like aptitude, logical reasoning, grammar, vocabulary and professional etiquettes.

It’s arguable and funnily sad that one has to learn all this rather then developing on one’s own. These attributes are something which should be part of daily routine. Nevertheless, I also had to go through this training as I was also among those dumb people who never cared about what potential was inside, waiting to be discovered.

Well here’s my take on what I have got to learn through CRT. In the 1st spell of instructions we were taught English and soft skills by Mr. Vishwa sir and Aptitude by Mr. Bharat sir, both from the institute of Career Launcher. There was something out of the ordinary with both of the instructors that we had learnt apart from what the intended to teach us.

Vishwa sir insisted that we call him Vishwa and not sir to make us realise that in the corporate world, there should be no inferior or superior. He was a man of 20 inside the body of a man of 40! His love for his wife and family reflected in every move of his and even his email id! We learnt that loving, caring and sharing can be of many forms and in corporate market it can be formally shown. He was very cheerful and learned. He gave us at most freedom in the class and also taught us how to use it properly. All this was taught in a short span including the clichéd, parts of speech, tenses, degrees of comparison, mail drafting and much more.

Bharat sir was up into the class for teaching us Aptitude. He started with number systems and ended up giving us a 30 minute long life lesson! We learnt how we can merge our passion and profession, how we can have multiple sources of income, how today’s hard work can pay off today and tomorrow and no matter what, never sacrifice your self-respect for anyone or anything! He taught us how active and passive sources of income make your life stable. He works as an aptitude teacher whenever he is free and mainly runs a business of his own with almost 60 employees working for him even in his absence. He told us that this was the time for us to indulge in multiple things that could benefit us and make our standards of living more efficient.

Who thought that the most boring and monotonous CRT would turn out to be so much fun and thought provoking? After all of this I just got to say one thing…..

Life is the perfect blend of the planned and the unexpected happenings! It’s up to one’s own self to be able to mould it.
"}]

Why is it always a woman’s fault when she gets violated? Why is it always a woman’s mistake if she parties late night? Why is it always a woman’s blunder when she wears short clothes? Why do people teach a woman how to defend herself, when she encounters a situation like rape instead of teaching a man how to bloody take their sight away and throw into the gutter nearby, if a woman is walking past them?

Many unanswered questions, unheard cries, also the emotions being ruined, stabbed and cremated – from a few months old baby to a 90 year old woman… When will these barbarians fumble with even a mere thought of sexually abusing someone? Will they ever realize how painful is that trauma which occurs within a girl after being abused? It will never be the same for a girl; she will never look at her body, like a mere body. It will just remain a wound… a wound which can never be healed. If they do understand it, there will be no movements like “#MeToo” and no girl will ever hesitate to be the way she wants without the fear of being judged. Alas! I can only hope. It is truly said that for a woman, her dignity holds much higher priority than her life – and these beasts are leaving no stone unturned to destroy it.

Recently, a 7-year old kid from Pakistan, Zainab Ansari, who was returning from her Quran tuition classes was abducted, raped and sodomised before strangling her to death. Reportedly, that brute tried to consort with the girl – ‘cause there was no sign of fear on her face... kept her kidnapped for 3-4 days, molested her, choked her to death and then threw her body in a heap of trash. Why? She wasn’t wearing any kind of revealing clothes. She also didn’t invite him to molest her. She wasn’t even trying to seduce him. She was for god’s sake, a kid – a bloody school going kid. She wouldn’t even have thought that the “good uncle” she was going with, will turn out to be the monster that’ll eat her up. As they say, smaller coffins are the heaviest - Zainab's one is so heavy that the whole world is struggling to lift it.
