I met you Not in my school, not in my college not even in the area where I reside. I met you on social media.
Yes, same as we meet strangers physically, I met you virtually.
I don't know but I felt like replying your first "Hi."....and then it all started.
I don't know yet. But something resonates in your chats.
Maybe my loneliness trying to find home?
Or maybe this feeling when someone's care ?
Or maybe I am just addicted.
I don't know yet but I share every single moment in my life with you.
I don't know why suddenly you became so important in my life.
They say "you can't know a person until you have met them,"
they say "social media is just an another drug,"
they say " Love on internet is mere attraction."
But, My heart assures me that I know you in depths even if I haven't met you.
My mind, won't mind an addiction which is you.
My soul seems to be attracted towards you.
I find serene where people think social media as a chaos.
The reason to which is you.
There is distance,
There are humors,
There are days without talking.
There are prejudiced friends.
But, above all I know destiny has other plans.

The one who don't have parents is not an orphan but the one who don't have a friend is an orphan. Everyone I talk to, are my friends. I thank every friend of mine for loving me, caring me, hating me, backstabbing me and for breaking my heart sometimes. Because, you are the one who taught me things that my parents can't, you are the one who shown me the taste of love & hate and you are the one who made me know about the relations & values in my life. And every day I spend with you is a friendship day, "HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY" to them who are reading this and smiling from your heart, thinking about this stupid girl. And am sorry if I hurted you at times but will never stop loving you at any situation.

You are a 6 lettered word,
With a priority in the third.
You are the sweetest,
And also the toughest.
A part from family,
I got you randomly.
You make me smile,
That's larger than Nile.
You are everywhere,
Like the air.
You share,
You care.
I got a value,
The day I got you.
You taught me love,
Then and now.
Made me know how to live,
But not to leave.
Sometimes, you turn fake,
Like a snake.
I never feel sad,
Even you are too bad.
You cheat,
I regret.
After all, in the end,
Still you'll be my friend.

In our lives, there are some people who don’t have any blood relation with us; with whom we feel comfortable & irritated at the same time; whom we can abuse & say anything without even thinking for a second (applicable only within same gender) & with whom we can discuss those matters which we can’t discuss with the family. They are the ‘Friends’.

1533477560638
txt

We human beings just need a chance to celebrate, whether it be any occasion, achievement or any special day. Just like that, there are many people who eagerly wait for the first Sunday of the month of August, which is celebrated as the “Friendship Day”. So, on this occasion, I have decided to share some incidents of my life that made me realize what friendship actually is.

The first incident is of my class 12th during 2014-15 in Delhi. I changed my Maths tuition, where I got many of my classmates. Among them was a girl of my section, whom I never talked to in the whole 11th class among many others. So, we interacted & our friendship initiated. Usually, I never got free easily while making friends. But this time the scene was different. We became good friends quite early. We used to sit near to each other & talk that others could not even hear.

1533477560639
txt

One day, she didn’t come to tuition even after ½ an hour of the class, though her home was just at 10 minutes walkable distance. And she wasn’t picking up anyone’s phone (Mom, Teacher & her friends). I don’t know what went in my mind, I took out my Nokia 2310 (my favourite phone) & called her by taking her number from another friend. I believed she would pick my call (as my number was not saved in her mobile). And she picked it. It was a sigh of relief as she was safe. From that day, I don’t know what happened, but our bonding became as strong as that of a bro-sis. All our friends & even our teachers knew about us so well that if there was a message for her, it was passed to me or vice-e-versa. But, today the scene is that we both are not even in contact with each other. She didn’t even come on my last treat with my friends in Delhi.

Another scene is of September 2016, at Air Force Selection Board, Mysore where I went for my NDA SSB. After getting screened in, we were allotted rooms with 10 guys/room. For the remaining 4 days of the testing procedure, we all roommates horribly enjoyed together that we didn’t even realize we met for the first time & that too everyone has come from different part of the country.

So, my observation is that Friendship doesn’t depend on the duration of being together, it may be long or short. But what matters is “living each & every moment that we spend together”. It’s not about making promises of “being in touch” or “friends for life”. We don’t even know whether we will be alive the next moment or not, then why to make such promises that may turn out to be ‘fake’! People change, priorities change so does friends. Thus, from this friendship day, stand by them, enjoy the present moment, create memories with your buddies & forget about the “scope of your friends”. Because “Friends may change in Life, but what remains forever is the Friendship”.

1533477560640
txt"}]
We all must have come across a situation several times where some relative or your parents’ colleagues & friends have complemented you by saying “Our kid has grown up now…” or “Bachcha bada ho gaya hai…”. But what do they mean by saying this? In what sense they say that we have grown up? One thing is for sure that they aren’t talking about the height & health. Then what is it? The answer is ‘Maturity’.

1533231485743
txt

Maturity in psychology is defined as the ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. It’s about being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act according to the people, circumstances and the culture of the society one lives in. But as an individual, we must question ourselves that whether we are ‘actually’ mature or not?

As I have mentioned in my earlier works that I am an Air Force Brat, mostly I have been surrounded by defence brats in in school days. But in college, most of the fellows are civil background people. My friend circle is limited but we are like minded people. But the surprising thing is behaviour of several students. When I see them, I don’t feel like they are 19-20-year olds.

1533231485744
txt

Some people not at all behave as students; doing illogical activities & laughing on; laughing loudly on faculty’s comment on some student (which is not even worth laughing) and many more. Once, a girl asked for permission to come into the class, but the iconic thing was that she was asking that standing on the other side of the glass door. I mean, through which science concept does the sound going to pass through the glass!

In another incident, a fellow mate always used to ask me that how to connect the circuit in the breadboard. I used to help him always, but after a point I stopped helping him. It’s not like I got irritated from him, but the problem is that he never tries to implement it on his own. Many times, I don’t get immediate results (not just in experiments, but in life too), but I keep on working myself to get it.

1533231485745
txt

Like this, many more ‘samples’ are there whom I see everyday that makes me feel whether I am more mature, or they are immature. I am not at all being judgemental here, but I just can’t digest such things as I have never seen anything like that even in school.

If I talk about myself, I feel & many people say that I seem to be some 10 years more mature than my age. The thing is I faced several situations in life at an early age that made me like this. In our friend circle, we discuss family issues, monetary matters etc. that we hear from our parents. And we behave accordingly.

1533231485745
txt

Basically, I want to convey that every time our parents aren’t going to guide us. And most of the time we aren’t going to listen them. It doesn’t matter whether you are from civil or defence background either. Certain things we should understand & learn about life on our own. It’s not like maturity comes with age or one must face challenges to get mature. It’s just a matter of being “responsible” for one’s actions & choices; understanding the various roles one is going to play in life. And most importantly, learning at every point.

The rarest of the rare spectacle of total lunar eclipse 2018 was witnessed around the world on 27th July and what made it so special was the beautiful 'Blood Moon'. The red tinge was courtesy the fact that the Earth came in between the Sun and the Moon preventing light from falling on the moon and its result was a breathtaking moon glowing in the hues of red.
The red coloured moon was the longest eclipse of 21st century that lasted for 1 hour and 43 minutes ( 11:44 pm to 1 am on July 28 ). This year's eclipse saw that the Earth coming really close to Mars. The cosmic show put up by the moon on Friday night captivated many who were swept away in the excitement of catching a glimpse of 'Blood Moon'.
All around the world, ancient cultures and religions have tried to explain eclipses like 'Surya Grahan' and 'Chandra Grahan' . Many of these stories involved gods, demons, dragons, and other creatures. Especially when it comes to our country, India , we observe that some superstitious rituals are carried out based on the beliefs they set up on the eclipse. One such popular superstition in India is to avoid eating during lunar eclipse or 'Chandra Grahan'. Cooking, drinking, etc., are avoided during lunar eclipses as people are superstitious about food 'going bad' during eclipses. Some of them feel that lunar eclipse could have health effects, other feel that it can have side effects on pregnancy. Even the zodiac signs could be affected by a lunar eclipse.
The belief in these myths and superstitions is the cultural and religious arrogance that doesn't benefit anyone. The world which we live in provide us an opportunity to question the realities and find out the truth in all aspects then why don't we utilize it in the such situations like this.? While the other countries are progressing in the way of development, we are still hanging up to this religious beliefs that we made ourselves.
It is a fact that lunar eclipse has occurred as the part of the changes that took place in the vast space which could be found out only through ' Science and Technology '. We should be grateful to the Science which made it possible for us to realize the truth behind this blind faith.
Finally, I conclude saying that.. This lunar eclipse is a beautiful sight to see and instead of making it to seem awful by the superstitious beliefs one can think of it rationally. From the start to the end of the eclipse, the entire celestial event was worth watching. A spectacular celestial occurance that kept the whole world spellbound for its immense beauty..

1532938567458
txt"}]
For all living organisms smell is one of the most important senses. Human beings rely on this sense to detect something or some fragrance, avoid danger etc. Similarly, this sense plays a very important role in the life of a fish. Apart from sniffing scent molecules through the air, they sense chemicals suspended in water by their nostrils.

But as per a recent study published in ‘Nature Climate Change’, scientists has warned that fishes will not be able to detect different smells by the end of this century. And the reason behind this is increasing atmospheric CO2 levels. The ability to smell is crucial for fishes as it helps to identify their path when the underwater visibility is poor.

The researchers have made the report by examining the elevated levels of CO2 & its effect on olfactory sensitivity, gene expression & behaviour in European bass. It is predicted that the CO2 level will get double the present amount in the water by 2100. Thus, a fishes would have to be about 42% closer to detect an odour source, thus finding food or noticing the predators will become difficult for them.

Fishes play an important role in nutrient cycles because they store a large proportion of ecosystem nutrients in their tissues & transport nutrients farther than other aquatic animals and release nutrients in dissolved forms that are readily available to primary producers. Thus, it’s important for the fishes to survive in a healthier way so as to balance the ecosystem. And for that, the production of carbon dioxide has to be reduced as it is harmful for both humans & aquatic organisms. As an individual, it’s our responsibility to keep the water bodies clean by not throwing trash into it, that may be toxic for the fish. Living a cleaner lifestyle will benefit everyone of us.

1532785247393
txt"}]
I’m not sure if this can be a theme for a short story or not, but, I can surely describe it like one.

The essence of being in the final year of B.Tech is realizing that you’re not a kid anymore and the earlier you realize it, the better it is for you!

People, especially your friends around you, are spotted talking about “huge things” such as offer letters, pay scales and placements. And if you’re someone like me then I suppose you've been ignorant during the past 3 years about anything as such!

Stepping into the last 2 semesters of my graduation life and observing all the changes around me has totally brought me a panic attack and an overwhelming spiral of different thoughts and anxiety mainly because I was not prepared to face the real world yet. Added to it were my 2 backlogs that were more than enough to make me feel useless and incompetent.

BUT! As they say “Every endeavour has an effect”, something I have put my efforts on has also treated me well.

So the tale is…

There is this upcoming software called Blockchain which allegedly had the potential to be able to work in many many real-world fields and take over the existing softwares. It also was transparent, non-decryptable and cyber safe.

A hackathon was being conducted in our college for any new implementations and applications. Interested students were asked to register and participate.

But before that, a mandatory bootcamp was to be attended, wherein the students would be taught the basics of the software, its properties and its coding.

One of my friends told me about this and I felt interested in it instinctively. We then registered and attended the bootcamp where we were informed about the hackathon and its guidelines.

We were a team of 3 and needed one more to attend the hackathon. Firstly, we asked one of our classmates who agreed. One day before the day, our new found teammate ditched us and left us in a state of CHAOS!!

One hour before the hackathon we asked another person who agreed (the only reason we asked him was he was good at programming).

The hackathon started and we got our idea validated by the people from IBC, then started our quest for the most feasible way to create a program which suits our requirements.

Long-story-short! After the struggle of almost 6 hours that we were able to get to 50% of the design and presented the idea in front of the jury.

After all this we were talking to the IBC representative about how the hackathon and presentation went, he quoted saying that “Since the first hackathon of IBC, you’re the only team who came up with the idea of gaming! I’m inviting you officially to the conference on Blockchain at t-hub.”

At first we didn’t get what he was talking about, but when he announced on the stage that he found our idea innovative and hence he decided to invite us, we were evidently excited!

Aaand.. there we were! 4 ECE students who made their first step into coding with little preperation and great effort.
"}]
"The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with nature."-JOSEPH CAMPBELL.

"Please don't cut me ,I will give you oxygen". " please don't litter me ,I will give you fresh water ".I think these are the cries of the nature to save itself, but we are least bothered about the environment in which we live. Now a days we could only hear the death sentence of the nature and its resources. The selfish us have destroyed this beautiful nature and built huge buildings not realizing the fact that we are living on natures Barren Grave. But it is a glad thing to say that there are many people who really care and spend their time for the nature even in this busy life.

Let me tell you about a person who has not put his foot on soil for 20 years, but have started talking and whispering to the nature as he was a nature lover and had showed keen interest in building green business. He is Piyush Manush(original name Piyush Sethia) ,who likes calling himself Manush because it means "Human".He is a native of Rajasthan but was born and bought up in Salem,Tamilnadu. While studying in college ,he protested for good quality education but was sent to jail for some false case and was not able to complete his graduation. From then,he started planting trees in 1997 to preserve the surroundings of Salem. He even stopped doing his ancestral business of making mosquito nets as it polluted the nearby lakes.

Along with few people in 2010, he formed the Salem Citizen’s Forum, a collective of urban citizens that engaged in people welfare activities. He opposed commercial mining in Kanjamalai hills and stood against encroachments and land mafia. He is a man who even changed a dry Mountain Hill into a paradise. When people of Dharmapuri started leaving the village as there was no sufficient water required for the cultivation of land.Piyush Manush ,along with his friends, purchased those lands and created the "Co-Op Forest" or "Co-operative Forest" in 2009, an initiative for forest preservation, on 1.5 acres of hilly land in Dharmapuri. Piyush Manush mainly believes on three principles activism, conservation and sustainability. He says that fighting against injustice must be everyone's primary duty.According to him,Nature could be a new platform for entrepreneurship where we can experiment new ideas, which go parallel with the world. He was successful in taking initiatives such as making furniture from bamboo, producing electricity in minimal cost by using bio mass gasifier, cultivation of fruits ,vegetables and even tourism.

On 8 July 2016, Manush was charged with non-bailable sections for protesting against the construction of the Muluvadi Gate over-bridge in Salem by Southern Railway .The arrest caused an uproar on social networks. While jailed, Manush was kept in solitary confinement and allegedly tortured. On 18 June 2018, Manush was arrested again on charges of 'Instigating enmity between groups' regarding the proposed 270-kilometre super highway connecting Salem and Chennai. When some people in society are coming forward to help each other, government should actually support them, instead of harassing them.

They reported presence of some heavily armed people building posts and occupying bunkers thereby. It enables us to think creatively & in broader perspectives, thus improves our ability to handle unfavourable situations. When we are good at something, our confidence & self-esteem gets boosted & we get immune to challenges of life. And all these things are required while working in any organisation.

So, everyone must pursue a hobby or two & excel in it because it is a skill that is unique for every individual. Instead of underrating it, one must take pride on it. And it is much needed in our country when there is so much of job-crunch. “When knowledge doesn’t help, skill does”.
