I'm not here to preach to you about feminism, I want to start this piece by saying its not a dirty word, and your outrage against the mass molestation on that night is very feminist of you.<\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1483793032522","data":"5870e93f456f7"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1483793033975","data":"In the days since the incident was reported, (look at me, I can't even bring myself to type mass molestation multiple times, that's how angry it makes me), social media has been filled with men, and in some cases women, trying to pass the blame. The problem here is, of course, that these people were never blamed to begin with. When a woman complains that men take advantage of her, the appropriate response is not, \"But not all men are like that!!\", the appropriate response is to let her vent, appreciate the fact that a fellow human being chose to tell you what she is going through. I'm sure everyone who's reading this has had at least one instance where you wanted to vent about something, but someone else speaks over you and tells you that your problems don't matter compared to theirs.<\/p>This, the appropriate word for it, trend of refusing to even acknowledge what makes us such a repressed society, refusal to listen to the problems of women who've been harassed, and ignoring obviously sexist and misogynistic practices you come across every day is what is rotting this society from within, and instead of actually dealing with this issue, men who refuse to learn came up with the hashtag #NotAllMen. <\/p>"},{"type":"img","id":"img-uid-1483793445089","data":"5870ea0b8833d"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1483793446610","data":"Whenever I see some, often, good friends use #NotAllMen on social media, I can't help but feel extremely annoyed at the fact that this person did not even take time to actually understand the point of women speaking about their harassment, and instead started preaching about how not all men are like that, often holding themselves on pedestals so high, with the security and privilege of never having to go through stuff like that by being men themselves, that they forget that they simply do not know what it feels like to be groped on the bus, be flashed by men on the streets and deal with people who refuse to take no for an answer. <\/p>When women talk about men being lecherous, they're talking about the men they've encountered, it doesn't necessarily mean they're talking about you. When they talk about being molested by faceless strangers, they are not talking about you, and in the words of the Ancient One, \"It is not about you!\", how stupid do these people who trend #NotAllMen think women are, do they honestly believe that women need to be reminded constantly about how not all men are lecherous strange faced rapists? The regionalism around this incident requires a whole new post, but for now, I'll say this, #NotAllMen are rapists, but #YesAllMen need to ponder on what it means to be a man in times like these.
