Theodore Roosevelt rightly said, “To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society .”

Sexual abuse, trafficking, rape, child abuse and what not!!! These are the most prevailing evils of our society these days. Every other day we get to hear so many incidents of child abuse, rapes taking place. As a person who thinks a lot, I used to get many questions like, Where is this leading our country to? Is there no permanent solution to all of these?? Is that the end of life for all the sex trafficked victims? Is there no one to rescue people from these scandals??These thoughts left me sleepless for many nights. And, finally there was a day when I came to know about this charismatic Indian social activist, Sunitha Krishnan, the founder of the PRAJWALA foundation, an NGO which rescues, rehabilitates and reintegrates sex-trafficked victims into society.

Prajwala started as a result of her own terrifying life experience. It was at the age of 16 when she was gang raped by 8 men. But, she hardly knew that she was living in a society where women are taunted, blamed at every step of their life for all the wrong things happening to them. But, being a very brave and strong person, she never gave up and decided to fight for all those victims suffering like her who were left isolated by the so called EDUCATED PEOPLE OF THE SOCIETY. She then being a victim herself, decided to give these victims a wonderful future and this thought of hers gave birth to the PRAJWALA foundation and that was when her life took a transforming turn which built up her attitude and molded her perspective.

This NGO has many rescue stories which will leave us with goosebumps. They rescued a seven year old girl who was found near the railway track raped by many men, with her intestines out of her body She was given 32 stitches and on enquiry, it was found that this girl was sold for 80$ by her father. There were even girls below 5 who were raped by their own father. These incidents clearly reflect on what our culture is heading towards. WOW!!! WE LIVE IN A COUNTRY where there is no security or protection at home itself. Then what do we expect from the others? NO person can imagine in their darkest nightmare of anything this kind will happen to them. It is easy to comment on others who are harassed but, Sunitha Krishnan strongly believes that no person will understand the pain of those victims until that person or his family member faces any such similar situation.

Nirbhaya’s case, which took place in the capital of our country was one of the worst cases we’ve seen. But, Nirbhaya's were happening everyday even before December 6th,2012 and it is continuing. There were rallies which took place all over the country but none of knew that at the same time, there was another 4 year old girl who was raped by 3 men. But when these rallies took place, I felt quite funny because people behaved as if it has happened for the first time. We often forget that we are living in a society where there are people who need a supporting or a helping hand. There is a need for people to change. This change should occur in the way of thinking of each and every individual. The counter movement should start by real men. Mind set of this society and men towards women should change. Then only can we live in a society where equals exist.

Today, Prajwala stands on five pillars: Prevention, Rescue, Rehabilitation, Reintegration and advocacy. The organization extends moral, financial, legal and social support to the victims and ensures that perpetrators are brought to justice. Till date, Prajwala has rescued, rehabilitated or served over 12,000 survivors of sex trafficking.

I look forward to live in a society which has many such Sunitha Krishnans, Ruchira Guptas who strive hard day and night to make this society a safe and secure place to live in.

The Fault In Our Stars is the sixth book by John Green, debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list in January 2012. It is a story of two youngsters who meet each other in a support group, Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters are teenagers who are fighting cancer. The author explicitly takes us through the journey of these two young people from reading books, playing video games to dealing with cancer. While Augustus suggests 'The Price of the Dawn' for Hazel she recommends 'An Imperial Affliction' which has an ambiguous ending; these two set out on a journey to Amsterdam to find the author Peter Van Houten, and then they fall in love. This mature and powerful love story would even glue someone who's not so happy with reading love stories as well.
This book is a lot more than a love story; it has a profound conceptualization of life and death. The captivating description of the feelings of 16-year old who knows she is going to die and how she chooses to stay happy despite losing the one she loves; is what the readers would find exceptional.
Augustus gives a speech in the support group which states 'Oblivion is inevitable' but then this love story would be remembered for a long time by all the readers for the thrilling and emotive reading experience it gives the readers, it truly describes how a short life could be eternal. The book closes with hazel looking up at the sky into the stars stating that she is happy with her choice.
It does not have a great story to talk about. It is self-absorbing and that's probably the reason it is the best catch for youngsters. Sometimes too much of emotion and no interesting story built could be less appealing for critics. It has no funny element that could have made the story little better.
This story has been brought to the celluloid by Josh Boone starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff, with Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, and Willem Dafoe playing supporting roles. It has done a good business at the box office.
You can buy the book here.
"}]
