As I told earlier, in our college, our seniors are that talented that they inspire us with their achievements every time. This time it's been a proud moment for SREC because it gained pride being the runner up at the National Level AI Hackathon organized by the TATA Motors at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune, which concluded on September 30.

Such a great achievement had been possible by the immense efforts and fine performance by a team comprising two third-year CSE students - Krishna Teja Jillelamudi and Rahul Bayya, and their mentor, Dr. D. Kothandaraman (Team CAIDL). The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, besides gaining attention from industry and academic circles.

Curious to know more about the hackathon, the problem statement the team worked on and their experience... read ahead...

txt
rich_1569594390401

Here's a small talk with the team!

Can you give a brief on the whole rounds that held in this whole process of the hackathon?

Well, the registrations were opened on July 15th, 2019 and we registered on 10th August 2019. There were 2 problem statements to solve! We have worked on both the problem statements and submitted our solutions (as per the requirements) on 8th September 2019 in AIHackathon Portal which marked the end of Round1.

On 14th September 2019, we were intimated about our selection to the Skype Round after successfully clearing Round1 (E-hackathon). Our solution for Problem Statement 02 was selected which was based on Sentimental Analysis of real-time digital conversations between TATA Motors and Customers. Later that day, they intimated us about our selection to the on-premise AIHackathon (Round 02) in Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Lavale, Pune.

Out of my curiosity... I asked them to share both problem statements so that we could get a clear picture.. the way to mold ourselves (regarding implementation)

P1: Currently, call center agents interact with customers and try to facilitate and fulfill customer needs. As part of the solution, need to classify the customer conversations categories of calls linked with automotive industry (i.e., new vehicle purchase inquiries, test drive request, breakdown assistance, roadside assistance, etc.) for necessary action by the business.

P2: Sentimental Analysis of real-time digital conversations between TATA Motors and Customers. The trait vital for the success of a call center agent is the greater the ability to read and perceiver’s emotions, the better will be the service provided; resulting in satisfaction to both the agent and the company for which the call center is operating. Evaluate audio clips of conversation between a call center agent and a customer and classify the emotions/sentiments of both the individuals.

txt
rich_1569594390402

Heard that round 2 was a 72- hour AI Hackathon (scheduled to start at 10 am on 27th September and ends at 10 am on 30th September 2019).

In this span of 72 hours, what perspectives you worked on and what you got to learn all along?

During the 72 hour period of AIhackathon, we focused on improvising our solution which is based on Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing (Technologies of AI).
We extended our solution which initially supported only for English conversations. The extended version supports Hindi conversations and a local language conversation that is assigned to us. A solution for the final task of analyzing the emotion of the employee and the customer in the conversation was done.

After 10 am on 30th September 2019, we were judged by a panel of experts from TATA Motors and SI, Pune. Later that day the participants had an interaction session with key persons from TATA Motors where we shared our experiences and they talked to us about the real-time industrial requirements and situations.

Thus, the best part of the whole was that we got to interact with best developers and designers from all around the country and even got priceless insights from eminent speakers and mentors from the leading companies and startups in the space.

txt
rich_1569594390403

Things to be grabbed...

Updating ourselves with the growing technologies is must needed but instead of thinking it as a learning tool, we need to interpret it as an implementation tool. Implementation to solve real-time problems and competing with different people all over the nation is the process all along which we get a lot more to explore, learn and showcase our talents!!! Grab the opportunities and expertise in the way of learning.

Inspiring young peers with our achievements brings great happiness and satisfaction as such this team stood today. Once again congratulations to the team! Keep inspiring and motivating :)

Feminism. The first thought that comes to your mind when you hear it is an independent woman. But have you ever thought what an independent woman means? Everyone has different views on it but today I'm going to share my views on it.

txt

Independent means having the freedom to make your own decisions. How many women are allowed to make their own decisions after marriage? The only ones I know in my circle of friends and family are the ones living in foreign countries. While people are not against the idea of their daughters or sisters being independent and making their decisions they don't have the same views when a wife or daughter-in-law is considered. Is the reason for it is she committed a sin marrying?

The best part about it no one even realizes it they think the girl is married and should live the way her husband and in-laws want her to live. They treat a girl like a property that has to go from her parent's house to her in-laws. The way these can be changed is to teach our brothers and sons to let their wives make their own decisions.

txt

Let's be realistic which girl doesn't have a fantasy of a prince charming who sweeps her off her feet. Does that mean a woman is not independent, just because she has dreams? The earliest time measurements were the observations of cycles of the natural world , using patterns of changes from day to night and season to season to build calendars.

txt

More precise time keeping like sundials and mechanical clocks eventually came along to put time in more convenient boxes.

txt

But what exactly is it that we're measuring? Is it time that physically exists or is it just in our heads ?

txt

At first, the answer seems obvious, of course time exists. It constantly unfolds all around us and it's hard to imagine the universe without it.

txt

But our understanding of time started getting complicated thanks to Einstein. His theory of relativity tells us that time passes for everyone but doesn't pass at the same rate for people in different situations, like those travelling close to the speed of light. Evidences like in the movie ' Interstellar'.

txt

Einstein proved that time is woven Into the very fabric of the universe. Time is unidirectional. No matter what we do, the past is always stubbornly behind us.

txt

Reconciliation of general relativity ( to study macroscopic phenomenon) and Quantum physics ( microscopic phenomenon) excluded time as a speculative quantity. If that's true -

txt

Would that mean that time doesn't exist at the most fundamental level ? Could time just be some sort of illusion generated by the limitations of the way we perceive the universe?

txt

Time is an emergent property. That means it doesn't have it's individual existence but exists in the system as a whole. Each individual water molecule doesn't have a ride but the whole ocean does. Flipping through the images fast enough our brains perceive the passage of time from the sequence of still images.

txt

Being a girl can become a difficult life style. Between our stages in life, staggering attitudes and emotions… I don’t know how we would get through it.
I myself am a girl, born and raised as one; so I know first hand that I can be very frail and take many chances. I’m also the target for a lot of people, for emotional support and other things. My parents depend a lot on me to take care of things when they can’t, especially because I'm the only girl.
Fathers always expect their sons to be the tough ones, while the girls are supposed to be the sensitive ones, the ones who cry when they fall not the boys. Mothers always teach their daughters to clean and cook before they grow older. Girls are taught to be mothers of babies and caretakers of family while boys are being taught to be Harley riders and wrestlers. Girls are taught that in a dress you’re a princess and no one could change that. Boys are taught that the more muscles you have the more people like you.
Girls walking around in short skirts, short shorts and tight clothes just to get the attention of another person. To me people aren’t important id much rather go outside feeling comfortable then to go out wondering “does this shirt look right?” or “is this the right fit?”. I clearly don’t care what people think of me, people have their own opinions and thoughts of what a girl is supposedly supposed to say, wear and look.
BE UNIQUE! DON'T BE AFRAID OF SOCIETY IT'S JUST A NEGATIVE ENERGY. PROUD TO BE A GIRL!

txt
On the bank of a river, there lived a hermit. Over thirty years he had been doing 'Sadana' to walk on water. He was great devotee of lord Krishna. He subsisted only on cow's milk, which was supplied by a girl of eleven years, living on the other bank of the river.

One day her mother told her, “There are heavy clouds. There is going to be a downpour and the river will be flooded. Tell the hermit that you won’t be able to supply milk to him tomorrow”.

The girl did so.

The hermit told the girl, “Don’t worry about the flood. I will teach you a ‘mantra’ and you can walk on water. Close your eyes and repeat “Krishna, Krishna, Krishna”, and you can comfortably walk on water”.

As expected the rain came in torrent and the river was in spate. The girl got ready to take milk to the hermit. The mother refused. But the girl persisted and told her that the hermit had given her a ‘mantra’ which can make her to walk on water. Believing these words, the mother allowed her to go. The girl went to the river, closed her eyes, repeated “Krishna, Krishna, Krishna”, and she walked on water. The hermit was looking on in wonder. She returned home, repeating the ‘mantra’, walking on water.

The hermit thought to himself, “How wonderful! I enabled that girl to walk on water. I have the power. Now let me try for myself”.

Confidently he stepped on water and droned forthwith.

This story implies that, faith can move mountains. The young girl had tremendous faith in the mantra given by the hermit, but not the hermit himself. It is implicit faith that can do wonders in this world. All great scientists had this kind of faith that nature had something to reveal and they brought forth unbelievable scientific truths for us to enjoy in the modern world in the form of many inventions like TV, smart phone, computer and what else. All these inventions were born out of implicit faith.

Non violence is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, here I am with my new article which is related to Gandhiji. Well Today is international day of non violence. When it comes to non violence first thing comes in our mind is Mahatma Gandhi. This world has seen its share of bloody wars that ended countless lives and filled many more with grief. No matter what country you go to, there are stories of how someone’s greed or lust for power resulted in the killing of innocent people and the destruction of beautiful cities. Even wars that were fought for a good cause, like the Civil War of the USA, that resulted in slavery being abolished, have been responsible for a great many deaths. Fortunately, however, there are people in this world who have gone about making the changes they thought necessary without violence or pure brute force, and these are the people that the International Day of Non-Violence celebrates. No matter where you live, there’s no denying that a day celebrating non-violent ways of making a statement and bringing about change is long overdue, and that these peaceful strategies for fighting injustice more than definitely deserve their own day. The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on October 2nd in honor of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhiji, one of the most influential political activists of all time. Gandhji used nonviolent civil disobedience to eventually overthrow the British, who ruled India at the time. Despite being thrown in jail numerous times, but nothing ever caused him to abandon his peaceful approach, which eventually resulted in India finally gaining the independence they’d wanted for years. The independence of his country was not the only issue Gandhiji found important, however; he was also keenly interested in building good relationships between people of different religions and ethnicities, expanding women’s rights, and reducing the amount of poverty. Even though he was assassinated by a Hindu nationalist in 1948, he has never been forgotten, and is called “the father of the nation” by most Indians. On June 15th, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly voted to make the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth the International Day of Non-Violence. The day is mostly dedicated to spreading the message of non-violence to as many people as possible in all countries of the world. One of the best ways to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s life and achievements, as well as those of other world leaders who have won their battles without violence, you could choose one of these people and read their biography—find out what motivated them to act as they did, what helped keep them strong even when they saw terrible things happening all around them. Such people include Civil Rights activists Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks, Beatles star John Lennon, humanitarian activist and “King of Calypso” Harry Belafonte, and of course anti-apartheid movement leader Nelson Mandela. The life stories of each of these people is fascinating and inspiring. If you have children, this day could be the perfect time to teach them the virtues of bravery, compassion, and perseverance.Children can be cruel to one another, so it is important to instill strong feelings of right and wrong in your children in hopes they will become good, strong adults and worthy successors of the people mentioned above. Children are, after all, the future, and the people who will shape history. However you decide to observe the International Day of Non-Violence, make sure you do what you can to honor the bravery and goodness of people like Mahatma Gandhi and carry on their legacy.

txt
The story of the swayambhu statue handed down from generations through word of mouth, goes something like this: When the Shepherd touched the stone with a pointed rod, the stone started bleeding. The shepherds were astounded. Soon the whole village gathered around to watch the miracle. On that night Lord Shanaishwara appeared in the dream of the most devoted and pious of the shepherds.

He told the shepherd that he is "Shaneeshwara". He also told that the unique looking black stone is his swayambhu form. The shepherd prayed and asked the lord whether he should construct a temple for him. To this, Lord Shani Mahatma said there is no need for a roof as the whole sky is his roof and he preferred to be under open sky. He asked the shepherd to do daily pooja and 'Tailabhisheka' every Saturday without fail. He also promised the whole hamlet will have no fear of dacoits or burglars or thieves.

So, Lord Shanaishwara can be seen even today, in the open yard without any roof above. To this day, there are no doors for any houses, shops, temples.[6] It is to be seen to believe that even post office has no door, not to speak of locks. Due to the fear of Lord Shani, none of the structures, be it dwelling houses, huts, shops, etc. situated within one kilometer radius of this Lord Shani temple have neither doors nor locks.[7] No thievery or burglary was reported until 2010 when first theft was reported and again another one was reported in 2011. This Shani Shingnapur is visited daily by thousands of devotees praying for Lord Shaneswara's favour. The place is busiest on Saturdays. Shani Thrayodashi is considered to be a favorite day for the lord. Similarly Saturday falling on 'Amavasya'(new moon day in Sanskrit and many other Indian languages) is considered to be a favourite day for the Lord Shanaishwara and on that days devotees seeking his blessings throng this temple in thousands. In the many years history of the village, there has not been a single incident of theft, riots, murder or rape. It is believed that nobody from the village has ever gone to a home of the aged. Nor has there been a single complaint lodged in a police station.

txt
