Today, December 20th, is International Human Solidarity Day, a day where we celebrate the humans who put their own self interest, safety and time aside for their fellow beings. As the hero Samwise Gamgee said to the Ring Bearer Frodo Baggins at the foot of Mount Doom, \"There\u2019s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it\u2019s worth fighting for.\"<\/p> 1. A Chennai based man saves a woman from sexual abuse<\/b><\/p>Vasanth Paul, a Chennai based photographer and model, posted on facebook about his experience late one night when he had stopped his bike on the side of the road to take a break. Paul reported to have heard weak screams for help and jumped immediately to help, and got attacked by 3 men, one of whom used a rope to try and strangle him, creating enough time for the woman to run and grab an auto driver's attention. The driver joined Paul in fighting off the abusers and both Paul and the woman got away without many injuries. The NDRF helps two pregnant women deliver their babies.<\/b><\/p>Bihar is India's most flood prone state, with over 76% of the population living under a constant threat of rivers flooding towns and cities. During one such incident, the National Disaster Response Fund recognized that there were two women who went into labor then and there, and went beyond their call of duty to help the women deliver amidst rescue operations. Tejinder, for the last 4 years, has been cooking 80 kilos of rice daily and serves it with vegetable curry. The Hyderabadi cop who helps people who run out of petrol <\/b><\/p>Let's be honest, cops don't exactly have a good reputation in India, but one traffic cop, Merajuddin Syed, quickly became a local hero as motorists who run out of petrol usually find him close by to help them refill. Syed usually stocks bottles of petrol, sometimes just enough to reach the nearest petrol bunk, and sometimes enough to reach home. He carries at least 6 bottles of petrol in his scooty and always refuses to take money for his help, even when he is insisted.
