The farmers although has less agricultural land use traditional method of farming with minimal use of fertilizers.

Dr. S. Anbalagan, the executive director of Sikkim Organic Mission says, “It was a matter of patience, but thankfully we ultimately achieved the status of 100 per cent organic farming with the completion of organic certification of all agricultural land in Sikkim”. It adopted sustainable cultivation and became an example for the other states; it implemented its organic practices in around 75,000 hectares of agricultural land and converted it to fully organic land as per the rules of National Program for Organic Production.

Organic agriculture is important for our health because it is more nutritious than other food and many other reason like climate change, protects our biodiversity, fertilizes the soil. As Sikkim has taken up organic agriculture it increased its tourist inflow and as a result increases it money inflow.
