I came home from the gym to have a power-packed breakfast to kickstart a day so productive that it'll make my bosses want to give me the 'employee of the year' award and I saw my dad fiddling around with an old x-ray in an attempt to see the solar eclipse. I was fascinated by it and was reminded of the times in the late 90s and early 2000s when I used to make a pin-hole camera out of an old cardboard box to see an eclipse. I was wondering to myself of the wonders of human ingenuity that had enabled a less-than-ten-years-old me to improvise an eclipse-viewing device out of scrap lying around the house when a friend of mine texted me and said he was hungry but was waiting for the eclipse to be over so he can eat.

That was when I (in the words of millennials) facepalmed so hard that I gave myself a border-line concussion.

This person was an engineer from a reputable college, working as a programmer and most likely had grades in math and physics that would have made my parents jump up in joy if I had gotten those but this person was still believing that moon's shadow on the Earth is inauspicious to eat.

This person is not the only such person that I came across and in fact, most of the people around me (educated with advanced degrees) blindly follow this whenever there's an eclipse and also follow a buttload of other such superstitions. If you are reading this and you are a college student and even you follow superstitions like this, then it is something you should not feel good about and in fact, it is something that you should question about yourself and educate yourself and change yourself.

Considering how most youth that I have come across seem to have forgotten everything that has been taught in school, I want to remind every person who is reading this about one of the fundamental duties of every Indian citizen, as laid out by the Indian Constitution - To develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform. Sadly most of the people I see around me utterly lack this and blindly believe in superstitions, going to the extent of following certain religious gurus who spew out pseudoscience behind superstitions in posh, suave English, as if the language adds credibility to the nonsense that speak.

One such guru comes to mind right now and this particular one is known for spewing out his pseudoscience in a language that makes Shashi Tharoor want to take IELTS/GRE Vocabulary classes and surprisingly, most of this guru's followers on social media are educated techies who blindly consume the bovine excrement that this person continues to speak.

At this point, I would like to remind every student of the fundamental duty to develop scientific temper and to ensure we go towards progress and work towards making our country a better place to live in.

There are many rich aspects of Indian culture and Indian art forms that we can propagate and work on. Let's not propagate superstitions.

Educate yourself, educate your friends and educate your family.
"}]
The Magic Of Christmas Never Ends. 23-12-2019, we celebrated pre-christmas with lots of joy and fun. Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. Although the month and date of Jesus birth are unknown, the church in the early fourth century fixed the date as December 25. Jesus is also known as Son Of God. The event was started with a blessed prayer dance. The chief guest father Yohan Rajesh and guest of honour father Vincent were invited for the celebration. Fr Vincent sung a devotional song and fr Yohan Rajesh gave an inspiring speech. And students performed skits and song which are related to Christ. At the end of the program Santa Claus appeared and made everyone more cheerful with his actions and dance.

It is that time of the year when Secret Santa is the buzzword in colleges and workplaces, with people scurrying about for best gift ideas in a budget. While it is always great to figure out what the recipient loves and gift them accordingly, it isn't always easy, especially considering the fact that it is supposed to be done in secret. So here's a handy guide of some gifts that you can give anyone and in a budget at that.

txt
rich_1577178628981

Stationery:

Be it customised notepads with their name on it or cool pens or anything else, you can never go wrong with stationery as it is something anyone would use regardless of what they do. Regardless of whether the recipient loves reading or not, books are a safe, easy, affordable and a great gift. Who doesn't like a box of chocolates? I mean, just the thought of it as I write this is making me want to abandon my laptop and go get myself some food of the gods, as chocolate is also known as. Honestly, this is perhaps the best gift you can give anyone as it'll make everyone happy because most of you will end up getting a piece! And if someone doesn't like chocolates, then it is a sign that you need to stay away from them!
"}]
The journey of the any ship is always well defined with crew, passengers, travel guide/route but there is a ship in which we all travel without any prerequisites where strangers become Family, different paths merges into a single path and those undefined travel becomes a defined travel in a very less time and we name that ship as FRIENDSHIP!!

Friendship, the most interesting story in everyone’s life.

Generally, we are aware of “long distance relationships” where Mutual understandings has an great impact to withhold that ship but there is an another ship which drenched in the ocean of love called “Long distance Friendships”.

Yes, it sounds somewhat strangely. As we know friendship is one which is beyond our radius and in practical life we name them (outside radius) as Long distance friends(which we generally don't mention in particular).

Friendship is not only limited to our classmates, roommates, colleagues etc., it’s something beyond our collaboration.

A traveler may find new people on his way, a web enthusiastic may find an another enthusiastic on social platforms, a sportsperson may find a new friend in his\\her journey of a championship and finally those are the ones who are connected to us physically in a virtual world.

Just like a shoulder shagging friends those long distance friends can also become a part of our regular life but the most beautiful part is maintaining those friendships.

It’s like driving a car oppositely in one way line,

many vehicles will come and go to hit us,

but trusting our driving capabilities is like crossing the huddles on and on,

making our skills stronger and stronger.

Precisely, long distance friendships is “Less words, More understandings”

"}]

When I was nine years old, our family had planned for a pilgrimage to Sripuram Golden Temple, Vellore, and I still remember that night when my grandmother sat beside me and narrated different stories about goddess Lakshmi and how people worship her, "Proud to be born in this country with such powerfull gods" I thought at that time, little did I know what kind of country I was born in, one where sexual harassment and rapes are as common as farmer suicides. but the shocking fact is instead of eradicating the animals within humanity, the government started feeding them inside a specialized environment called the jail and the effects were as follows:

1. 24,923 rape cases were reported across India in 2012. Out of these, 24,470 were committed by someone known to the victim (98% of the cases).

2. More than 32,500 cases of rape were registered with the police in 2017, about 90 a day, according to the most recent government data.

3. Using a small sample survey, Human Rights Watch projects more than 7,200 minors – 1.6 in 100,000 minors – are raped each year in India. Among these, victims who do report the assaults are alleged to suffer mistreatment and humiliation from the police.

4. India's conviction rate is higher than in developed countries, such as the United Kingdom, which recorded a conviction rate of 7% in 2011-12. The conviction rate as low as 10% in Sweden and 25% in France.

and I hope every human in this country feel the same as me, complaining about all this is not gonna help at all, I feel that root of all this sexual harassment is developed from the childhood habits that we develop, the same habits which help men to judge women if they are bitch, hoe or slut, the same habits which men develop to make loud annoying noises when a girl passes, the same habits which help men to misbehave and they can only be solved if men with these habits break them, and only then the women of this country can walk without pepper sprays in their bags and fear in their mind.
"}]
December is the month of lights and magic filled with hope to change for better. We all know that New Year is round the corner; everyone must be making up resolution and promises to become a better version of themselves. Promises to learn new things, try to view life from changed perceptions, become audacious and bring out the daredevil from within, and to be honest the bottom line would be promise to love oneself more by doing certain things.

Honestly speaking, I’ve neither been a person to seriously resolute during New Years nor keep the resolutions entirely. After thinking for a while, I figured out few reasons why I couldn’t do so. • Micro-planning the goal which wouldn’t be realistic or achievable.

• Forcing the resolutions upon myself which weren’t enjoyable.

• Not being able to fit in the routine into my schedule.

There will always be millions of reasons to not to do something today, excuses that might sound valid. But, rising above our excuses is all that bring about the change. Taking responsibility of everything in our life is what matters. Being grounded and setting up realistic goals is my highest priority now. I would want to change many things about myself this year;

• Become more productive: I’ve always had problem with squandering my time while studying or working on a task when not interested. I will try my best to focus and concentrate.

• Stay away from toxic people: Psychologically, it is proven that we are the average of five people around us. This made me decide to not involve people who would have a negative effect on my life.

• Get more involved in physical activity: This is one of the most common resolutions taken by people. Let it be sports or walking or dancing, I wish to burn extra calories and get healthier.

• Restarting my hobbies: It’s been few years since I’ve been practicing my favorite pastimes, I would want to change it.

• And most importantly, whether I achieve to fulfill the above promises I made to myself or not; I will try to remain happy and grateful for whatever I’ve in my life.

The real question is- Are resolutions really real? Statistically, 80 percent of the New Year resolutions fall apart by end of February. Also, according to University of Scranton, 8 percent of population is most likely to keep their New Year solutions. This made me think-why wait for a specific time to make promise for change to oneself? Becoming a better person starts when we realize the need of it, but not with a New Year. Anyhow, to have a fresh and hassle-free start what’s the better occasion other than a New Year? I hope you all will be able to achieve your goals this New Year.

Happy New Year!
"}]

2019 is almost over and as I sit down to write this, which is my penultimate Monday blog of this year, I can’t help but introspect on how the last 356 days have been as far as my life as an entrepreneur goes. What did I achieve in the last one year? Have I been able to overcome all the challenges that the universe has thrown at me? Have I grown and have I become a better person, a better leader?

For starters, I wanted to read at least 12 books in this year as my book reading had come down owing to my schedule over the last couple of years but I did manage to get close to the number I allotted myself. With each book, I learnt something new and I grew just a little bit as a person.

On a personal note, my son turned from 3 to 4 this year and the best part of having a child who is of that age is that they’re very curious about everything and they are rapid learners. But this learning happens gradually and over a period of time and spending time with my son in this year taught me how to be patient and that has helped me achieve other things in 2019.

Professionally, this year was great as stuMagz conducted a massive event in March where we awarded 25 achievers under the age of 25, discovering those talents and presenting them to the world. It was the perfect beginning to fulfilling stuMagz’s goal of identifying and discovering talents. Later I visited London and Dublin as a part of a government delegation and that was also a high-point of 2019.

All of these were one step at a time.

The answer to all the questions in the first paragraph is in the affirmative. How did I do it all? I did several small improvements throughout the year. It is okay to not achieve a goal completely but it is important to take a step towards it every single day. It doesn’t matter how big the step is, just step in the right direction, consistently.
"}]
