It is that time of the semester when companies start pouring in (well, not exactly!) to recruit students for their respective companies. And we as students who are just about to realize our potential and true worth scratch our heads to try and crack these placement tests. So, here I am, with a guide that consists of tips to ace these tests that have been handed down to me by well wishers, seniors etc.

A few months ago, there came a sensation that made people do craziest things ever..That sensation is nothing but the game called "Pokemon GO".People Catch Pokemon in their smartphones getting an experience for the user as if they were doing it in real!

So..the main technology that is behind all this illusion is "Augmented Reality".

Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer.

By contrast, virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one.Augmentation is conventionally in real-time and in semantic context with environmental elements, such as sports scores on TV during a match. With the help of advanced AR technology (e.g. adding computer vision and object recognition) the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable. Information about the environment and its objects is overlaid on the real world. This information can be virtual or real, e.g. seeing other real sensed or measured information such as electromagnetic radio waves overlaid in exact alignment with where they actually are in space.

Hardware components for augmented reality are a processor, display, sensors and input devices. Modern mobile computing devices like smartphones and tablet computers contain these elements which often include a camera and MEMS sensors such as an accelerometer, GPS, and solid state compass, making them suitable AR platforms.

Various technologies are used in Augmented Reality rendering including optical projection systems, monitors, handheld devices, and display systems worn on the human body.

AR displays can be rendered on devices resembling eyeglasses. Versions include eyewear that employs cameras to intercept the real world view and re-display its augmented view through the eye pieces and devices in which the AR imagery is projected through or reflected off the surfaces of the eyewear lens pieces.

Companies and platforms like Niantic and LyteShot emerged as augmented reality gaming creators.Niantic is notable for releasing the record-breaking Pokémon Go game.

It was not a normal day in our lives. This journey was something different. The roads, the beach and traffic, everything seemed to be different. Waking up early was never our thing, but last night we couldn’t sleep a wink. Ananya picked me up from my place and we started our journey. A journey into the lives of children, children who are alone, children who are deprived, children who are waiting for the ray of hope.

PAPA Home was such a hope for all those children, a ray of sunshine which brought light into their dark lives. We parked our vehicle and walked in. We went in and met Mrs.Lakshmi – the secretary of the home and told her the reason behind our visit. She told us that it would take some time for the President to arrive.

Meanwhile we went around the home. It was not just a home, it was a home filled with happiness and a home for support. As we were walking around, we saw that the Home Director was having an interactive session with the children to know their problems. The kids were very active and they were quite vocal about their problems.

Meanwhile the President had arrived and we went to meet him. We told him the purpose of our visit. We wanted to know how their organization works and surprisingly he was open about the workings and the ins and outs of the Home.

“The thought of studying the life of these kids is a good initiative. When you are talking to them please do not make them feel they are alone or that they are lacking in any way. They need support but not sympathy. The wages we get for this service is in terms of the happiness and satisfaction of every child present here. Imagine the feeling when you were the reason for the smile on their face. That is enough for us. So I would not be happy to find out that something has caused the discomfort to these children.”

He asked us to wait in the library, and we did so. After listening to his words we were lost in our thoughts and sat down in silence. Those words made us think and retrospect.

Some voices broke into our thoughts and startled us. We looked at the door to see a lanky guy dressed in the standard dress code, knocking.

“May I come in madam? “ he said, and it looked like it was not the first time he was saying those words either.

We asked him to come in.

He folded his hands and stood in front of us with a smile. “Be the reason for a smile on their face “, those words echoed in our ears. We asked him to sit but he refused and said he was more comfortable standing. But we made him sit beside us. His name was “ Siva “, he was studying in 9th class in the nearby government school. His favourite subject was English. He asked us to ask the questions in English. He replied for them in English too. He wanted to become a Mechanical Engineer. Ananya asked him what would he do if he became a Mechanical Engineer.

“ I would make a car which runs automatically without the need of any human support. With just one instruction itself, it would take you to the destination “ he replied to her question confidently.

“Who told you that a mechanical engineer will do these things? “ I asked him

“When I am in 6th, a person came to visit us. We asked him what is he doing. Then he told us about mechanical engineer. From then I was fascinated about that and decided it as my goal.” He replied.

“What is your utmost wish? “, she asked him

“ Living my life happily and making people around me happy ,this is my only wish “ he said.

This kid who was just 13 boggled our mind and impressed us with his answers. We also got to know how visitors like us could make an impact or inspire them. Siva was an example for that. He loves singing and dancing. He also sang a song for Ananya. He then introduced us to his friends Manoj, Kiran , Narasamma. Everyone there had a goal, one wanted to become a police where as one wanted to become a doctor. They also showed the deeyas they made for Diwali. They shared their thoughts, ideas, dreams and even their nick names. Time just flew as we sat there talking to them. We posed for a good selfie (even this was their idea) and waved them a good bye.

While leaving they called us back and asked

“What do you people do? "

We looked at each other and explained them about our studies. We then went back to the office room to share our experience with the President. After thanking him we walked back towards the parking with heavier hearts but also with a smile on our faces for today had taught us a lot.

We were going back home and on the way we stopped at a traffic signal. There we saw an old man sitting in the hot sun. We went to him keeping our vehicle at some distance. We enquired why was he there. He couldn’t hear us. Using some signs we tried communicating with him. Then he told us that his name was Das. He was born and brought up on roads. This footpath was his home. Prasads in the temple was his daily diet. Tears started rolling down our eyes after listening to his story. How could a man spend his whole life without shelter? If Das has had guidance like how Siva did,he would have been in another position.

They are the lone rangers who always struggle to live their life. Happiness is what they strive for. For them sympathy is not the weapon to win the war, its support which will keep them on winning side. They brought a remarkable change in our thoughts, in our ideas, in our visions. These two people had made our day.
"}]

Nikhilesh has perpetually been curious since his teenage. At an early age of 13, he was in a search of using waste like human hair, bird’s feather, sawdust to clean oil from water. With a strong enthusiasm for science, he was excited to find an inclusive solution to oil contamination in water, after visiting a demonstration on pollution. He used his creative mind to comprehend out the potential remedy instead of just following the internet. He had confidence in his own ability that prompted him to recollect how, through his childhood days, his mother would oil his hair. He recognised that human hair has potential of departing oil from water. Then began his research.
