How did you get to know about this competition? <\/b><\/p>So since I am in my first year, we had a 15-day induction program in our college for the juniors. I got to know about the competition through the induction program. Can you just give a brief about the competition? <\/b><\/p>So it's a public speaking competition, more like an extempore since we were given the topics on the spot along with 15-30 min of grace time to prepare for that. It had 3 rounds, the first round being the qualifier one, in which we were supposed to record a video of ourselves speaking on any of the given topics. I was then shortlisted for the semi-finals where we were given a few topics on the spot and were asked to speak for about 2-3 min. Among 27 semi-finalists, 7 finalists were chosen and I was one of them which was held at T-Hub. Students across Hyderabad participated in this competition(UG ) and there was also a contestant who came from the US.\n<\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1667149799826","data":"4. What were your emotions and instincts telling you? <\/b><\/p>It was a very thrilling experience for me. I have been into public speaking before but it was only at the school and inter school levels. This was the first time I participated in a State Level of Public Speaking Competition. I can say that after addressing a crowd of about 1500 people at T-Hub, I have become much more self-confident and I am very glad that I got to know about the student tribe through this competition and that I made a lot of new connections. I think public speaking is a form of competition that gives you self-confidence which is a much-needed aspect to survive in this competitive world because I believe if you are not able to express yourself properly then your thoughts will go unnoticed which will further hinder your progress in society.\n<\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1667149799829","data":"6. What were your previous achievements in this field?<\/b><\/p>I backed first place in a debate at the school level for two consecutive years in my 9th and 10th standard. I even received first prize in Hindi Elocution in my 8th standard. Who is your favourite orator? <\/b><\/p>I think my biggest inspiration is Steve Jobs because his life has taught me the lesson of perseverance. I am saying this because there was a time when Steve Jobs himself was fired from the apple company but he didn't give up and started a new journey with a new company and got back to apple. His story always inspires me to work hard and never give up on my dreams . Even though he is no longer among us, I still sometimes listen to some of his speeches to regain my confidence.\n<\/p>"},{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1667149799831","data":"8. What are your suggestions for developing public speaking skills? <\/b><\/p>If I were to give a suggestion, I would say fear is your biggest enemy. It will only stop you from progressing and achieving your dreams, so gather up the courage and face it .
