What happens when you leave home for the first time? When you are in a new place with new people? In an otherwise usual college life filled with a hectic schedule, what is it that we look forward to, a place that allows you to exert your mind to think differently? You need friends to make our monotonous lives fun! For many students in GITAM University, GUSAC means home.
GUSAC - GITAM University Science and Activity Center has successfully completed 1500 operational days. It has fostered a community of people who believe in chasing their dreams, following their heart and working on their passion. What began with making a LUNA BOT for a competition by NASA today, students in GUSAC work on projects that have real time applications. Like all student bodies, even GUSAC has constantly worked towards bridging the gap between academics and industrial requirement.

Today we have a literary club, Kalakrithi, the cultural club, G Studio, Entrepreneurship cell and many more!
At a personal level, GUSAC has impacted many people, it made the introverts speak out, connected passionate people to resourceful people, gave exposure to many. Student entrepreneurs have made it big starting from here. It has led to the overall development of students. Isn't that what all student bodies are meant for? But what is that one thing that makes us different?
It is in the fact that we make a family out of the friends we find here. We meet such likeminded people with "different" interests. We learn to see beyond what appears to the eyes. We learn to empathize with people and put their needs before ours. We learn to embrace learning in every possible way. We learn to compensate for others’ shortfalls and at the same time learn to be humble. In GUSAC, we firmly believe that "It is not what you know; it’s what you do with what you know". Everyone brings a new skill, idea or talent to this place, making it alive every day!

This place literally stands for its name, always bubbling with activity and energy, GUSAC is a classroom outside the classrooms!
In this span of five years, GUSAC is proud of its accomplishments and strives to achieve more in the upcoming years. And we think that this milestone calls for a celebration! We take this opportunity to invite GITAMites to join us on 4 August, 2016 for GUSAC Anniversary, making this a day of greater significance.

"}]

"What then was music created for? Was it to drown out the voices of others, or the voices within ourselves? I think I know.” ― Emilie Autumn

Constantly wearing masks to hide our emotions does have its fair share of strain on us. The raw connection to what we feel emotionally is when we listen to music. We let the music be our refuge. Plug your headphones in and you let the wave of emotions wash you away. So here is a compilation of songs that hit you hard in the feels. Since I'm feeling very positive today this list will motivate you or at least I hope it does.

A story that re instilled my belief in love!

– Love at first sight!

Love doesn’t need a place and time, it just happens..

As a little girl, all I cared about was how the next chapter in the book that I couldn’t put down would shape up. I was this book worm or bibliophile, or chronic reader… whatever you wish to call me.
Yes, I was an introvert.
My life revolved around the likes of Nancy Drews , Secret Sevens and Hardy Boys. Stepping out of my comfy hideout, to play or socialize was not my cup of tea. I hardly stepped out except for an occasional errand I would be forced to run. My friends were the characters in books, the only problems I pondered on were those unsolved mysteries that protagonists would be involved in.

Procrastination, a tough little word it is isn't it? How many times did we postpone doing something for no real, sensible or coherent reason at all? If you procrastinate and you know it, clap your hands! Now there are wonderful articles and videos about what this word really means. But most of us know about that already, don't we? Jokes apart, this article focuses on telling you why we procrastinate and if there is something that can actually be done about it (???).

A quick Google search will tell you that you procrastinate mostly for the following reasons: 1)Overconfidence 2)Laziness. Not in my opinion. The fact that we needed someone else tell us the reason for our laziness emphasizes that we have no clue what we are dealing with here. Mostly a person procrastinates because he/she is more concerned about short-term rewards rather than their actual priorities. And then there is the concept of motivation or the lack of it to be precise. In my case, I just convince myself about why I'm procrastinating. The most used argument being about how I work best under pressure, so I'm always waiting for that tension to just set in. I always fall for this one. Similarly, everyone has their own way of accepting procrastination as the best form of action at any given moment. And it just feels right. Doesn't it? So how do you find ways to hack it? If you can't fight straight by the horns then let's find a way around it.

* PRIORITIZE: You know what you have to do. But writing it down, having a to-do list gives you the most practical view of all the daunting tasks at hand.

* CONTEMPLATE: Since you are whiling away your time anyway, just take a couple of minutes to really understand and analyze the cost of time that you are spending so unproductively. This will help you get a hold of your reality and give you a viewpoint. Ask yourself, is this utter waste of time worth it? Is it? Really? Trust me when I say it works!

* TIME OF DAY: For instance, I'm a midnight owl. Most of my works get done only in the nights. This isn't the case with everyone, there maybe early birds who enjoy working at the crack of the dawn. Bottom line: Find when you are most efficient and start working then because mood matters.

* BEING ACCOUNTABLE: "Always work with an assumption that there is someone watching you". Hands down this is the best advice ever given to me. We tend to work better when we feel that someone is watching us. So pretend this person to be someone you respect and would never want to let them down. And yes, this one works like a charm!

* WHY: Finally, the million dollar question you have to ask yourself is why? Why should you do it? What is in it for you? Essentially dig a little deeper and find the personal connection. It is very easy to dismiss something when you don't know it's value. But when you do understand its importance perspective changes.Though this sounds similar to contemplating, this step allows you to comprehend why you are supposed to do whatever it is you are supposed to be doing, whereas contemplation lets you realise the consequences of your decision to procrastinate.

Sometimes helping someone out is not doing just that. Try to change the way of thinking or the approach due to which a person is struggling with and things will fall into place on their own. All the impossible tasks suddenly become at least seemingly possible to be worth enough of a try. The above hacks are just that. They help you look at things in a different light. A little introspection never caused any harm. Enjoy the new found Zen inside of you and get things done already! Make good decisions :)

UNEXPECTED LEARNING

When the class was going on suddenly a beep sound came from my mobile. It was a message “Master Orator Championship 2016” with all the instructions and prizes for the winners and the runners. With little bewilderedness just saw the message and left. In the evening went through the link, came to know the details felt that I am not the right person to register and left about it. The day before the registration is going to close our sir came rushing towards us saying all should register. It was an offline registration where we should just write our name in the sheet. Thinking about the money to be paid for registrationand whether I will be able to do it or not with all these confusion in mind finally wrote my name. After an hour I came to know that no one of my friends have registered, so I strike my name but felt bad about it and again registered for it. The competition to be held was on 17th July where I had one week for preparation. One night when thinking about MOC a word “SUCCESS” stuck to my mind. The word was rotating in my mind for two days felt I should speak about “SUCCESS”. On Saturday, 16th July at night when thinking what to speak about success, meanwhile during time went through the experience of MOC people, when read about one of the person’s failure and success in MOC, I was impressed and motivated and started to prepare for the speech.

On 17th July when I entered the college with full of enthusiasm and excitement, a girl came rushing towards me saying that our results are out and most of us had a backlog. At that moment the entire speech vanished from my mind sat alone in a room crying and felt I am not the right person, but at 11:30 a prove “Failures are the stepping stone to success” came to my mind felt I am doing wrong and went to the registration desk took my registration number and started preparing for my speech. At 2 0’clock contest started, it was my turn with little nervousness, fear completed my speech “SUCCESS”, and felt relaxed which gave me a lot of happiness. Iwas happy for myself where I had got good learning experience and learnt a lot from others. After two days the results were out. While was having lunch and just went through the result I was shocked to see my name Praveena I asked my friends whether it was my name or not I was happy to see that I was selected for semi-final. On that day the speech “SUCCESS” and the quote “Failures are the stepping stone to success” came true in my life

"}]
Since olden days, men had very few fashion choices when compared to women. We women can choose from salwars and sarees and of course wear pants like a boss but the poor men have to be content with only a variety of pants and shirts. Although men too have now stormed the fashion circuit with their varied and somewhat fruitful “feminine” interpretation of apparel, there is still a long way to go in terms of acceptance. But dear men, rejoice.

How enjoyable does it seem that you are being paid for playing and being with animals all day along?

For animal lovers, it is a dream come true.

There are jobs that pay you for taking care of animals and looking after them in the absence of their master. Apart from the general animal lover job such as that of the Veterinary Doctor, there are several other additional jobs which you might not have learned about.

These jobs not only let you earn well, but also keeps you happy and excited, as you will be dealing with such cute and naughty animals.

" Absolutely yes! in fact I myself started my journey when I was a student the advantage of starting something at a student level is you don't have too much risk to face. Barbar Ali at the age of 9 took the solicitude of enlighting the kids on whatever he learnt in his own school and teach other kids of his village who cannot afford to go to a school and get a basic education.

Here it goes...

Barbar Ali was very famously known as the "Youngest headmaster of India" is a son of a jute seller and a drop out who believes in the motto " Education is a man's true religion"!

Barbar happens to be one of the fortunate young soul in his village to go to school and get a formal education which was not reachable to the other kids there. He uses to take an auto rickshaw first and later walks for five kilometres to reach his school “Cossimbazar Raj Govinda Sundari Vidyapeeth”.

After reaching home from the school he sets himself towards the afternoon school where he teaches the underprivileged kids. He converted his own backyard into a school and started teaching 8 children when he was 9 years old. “It all started as a game when I used to teach my sister, my first student in my backyard. Later, some migrant children from the village used to come to my classes and that was how the school was born,” he said. He got help from his own teachers, local cops, and Ramakrishna mission. He also managed to get the mid-day meal scheme from the government where Barbar's father used to provide rice for the children before he was sanctioned with the mid-day meal scheme. When the children of the village and the localities nearby are done with their chores and jobs at day time, they run to attend Babar’s afternoon school. They arrive in time. Babar Ali gives lessons just the way he has heard them from his teachers.

There is no building or establishment for his school. He teaches his students under the open sky. Some children sit in the mud, others on rickety benches under a rough, homemade shelter. The family chickens scratch around nearby. In every corner of the yard groups of children can be seen studying hard.

Today, nine years down the line, the school has 60 regular attendees and over 220 students on roll-call and 800 students in total, with 10 volunteer teachers teaching grades 1 through 8. His little afternoon venture is now registered and recognized by the West Bengal State Government, which means students graduating from Babar’s school are eligible to transfer to other local high schools. Various people, a majority of who are from Karnataka, have supported him morally and financially.

Despite all the attention and the recognition he has received, he is still not content.
