Indians have an uncanny ability to laugh at everything and move on, so much so that it even when something is slowly killing us, we ignore it and go chalta hai because accountability is not something we are taught and privacy is a joke. But hey, I don't want you to think I have some unresolved issues or anything, I still love this country for what it represents, just maybe not the people in it all the time.
Coming back to the sense of humour part, however, some people are born funny, whereas some people are born in towns that have funny names. Here's a few
1. Pooh, Himachal Pradesh:
Here's a fun fact: I've actually been to this place with my brothers when they took me hiking in the Himalayas. Located in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh (which also features plenty of other famous sights), Poo or the Pooh, depending on if you want to make an immature joke or comparing it to Winnie the Pooh, is a quaint little town on the hiking trail filled with warmness. That is a dirty joke which I hope nobody gets.
2. Bhainsa. Telangana:
This unfortunately named town is not that far from Hyderabad. Bhainsa, which in Telugu means slave, is a small sized town.
3. Barh, Bihar:
I was told this would be a barh full of people, turns out I was right. I found this picture on another website that does similar articles. How cool is that?
4. Erode, Tamil Nadu:
The name could imply erosion but one would think that is too obvious a pun to make, right? Apparently, no. If you visit the Erode wikipedia page, you'll see the picture of the town with a neat little pun underneath it for the description.
5. Daru, Jharkhand:
I don't know why but this reminds me of that Dhinchak Pooja song where she brays about Daru over and over again while looking barely legal enough to actually buy herself a drink. Speaking of which, where is Dhinchak Pooja these days? It's like she vanished.
