Fake news is not something new that has came into existence post the emergence of Social Media. It was present earlier as well and continues to exist now too. Just the medium changes. This time the medium is the Online Social media platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, etc., to spread the lies and misinformation.

In other words, just as the fire triangle needs the three essential elements to sustain, similarly, the Fake News or misinformation needs three major factors, motivation to propagate misinformation, tools to propagate misinformation and a platform with a good outreach.

Social media is one such platform where all three are present simultaneously. Fake news is not new. But, the problem has started arising when the people are considering social media as their source of information for news updates. A video clip drops in, which could part of a bigger picture, which the people start believing as the ultimate truth.

So, how does the misinformation impacts the entire social fabric?

We, as a social being, are associated with a lot of strings that are essential for our survival and existence. No two people are the same as everyone has his own set of notions and values that they wish to adhere to. The minds of the people are curated by the sources of information they rely upon, be it society, news, or their social circle. If the information that they receive has tampered, even to a certain extent, the entire thought process of that person is chartered in a different direction altogether. Regular exposure to such sources develops a polar mentality in the people as a whole.

People in today's' times are more focused on the easiest source of information gathering, which for them is Social media, fast, fun & convenient. Not that Social media is the only way to propagate such news. It is more or less omnipresent. The media is biased, propagators are active who do this as a profession, and more to it there are people who exploit some of the illiterate people by tunneling their vision with their vision and version of reality. There are people who do all sorts of stuff on a professional level, from discrediting news to instigating false propaganda around you.

How much impact does it have in any dimension?

Let's evaluate the scale of impact a piece of false news can have. In 2016, Trump supporters started boycotting Pepsi over a comment that its CEO never made. As a result, the impact was such that over the course of time, PepsiCo's Stock prices fell by 5.21%.

According to a report by EU DisinfoLab. At least 265 fake news websites, operating in more than 65 countries, which are being managed by Indian influence networks, which aims at influencing various international institutions, and their elected representative, and swaying the public image of Pakistan. Misinformation related to the Pandemic of COVID-19, in the form of Social media messages pertaining to advisories, conspiracy theories, and home remedies, are also at large in the public domain. So, considering that the fake news is omnipresent won't be a wrong statement to make.

How do we battle it?

It is unfortunate that we do rely blindly on such news information, without knowing the entire matter by ourselves. Probably the people are not able to properly demarcate between information and correct information.

We need to ask ourselves certain questions, like What is the source of the information which is coming to us, and what is the credibility of the same? Are there any supporting sources of the same? Are we biased towards a particular topic to a certain extent? Who is the propagator of the information, and is that credible enough to believe? Are we getting it cross-checked via some experts?

If the answer to any of the above is "No," then we need to re-think, and then probably we are the prey of the misinformation being spread and also contributing to the damage of the societal fabric. Till then, yes, that trust element will be hampered by the misinformation being spread.
"}]

Investment is a word that requires no introduction. From buying gold to buying properties (land) our parent's generation made many investments but failed to discuss them with our generation. Stocks have become that one ignored or left behind in our households and here comes our generation which completely changed the investment game with crypto and NFTs. But every generation has forgotten that one investment or perhaps didn’t see it as an investment.

HEALTH - yes it is the investment that I am talking about. People completely forget about taking care of themselves, maybe it is the cultural change that is to be blamed. Our parents and their parents had a subtle lifestyle that subconsciously had an impact on their life and their health. Due to the changes in culture and exposure to different cultures, our generation went from eating fast food to partying often. This isn't bad, but doing this excessively can impact a healthy lifestyle. Remember if your health isn't good enough then won't you miss out on that friend's party who rarely even takes out his wallet?😜

“My worst investment has been my health I would encourage everybody to invest most out of that” - Rakesh jhunjhunwala (net worth more than Rs 21,000 crores)

But, how can someone invest in health, and how to get the most ROI? today let's discuss this and find out. Health isn't like other investments, you put your money once and forget it for a while. It's like a SIP where you constantly put your money in and nonetheless it should be treated the same as other investments because they fail to give instant results.

Making your way to a healthy lifestyle

This can be stated simply by drinking three liters of water daily and adding fruit daily to your diet. Don't make everything complicated at once because suddenly changing what we eat and drink can make us frustrated or make us leave the habit after some days, so make it slow with minor changes.

Doing one or two physical exercises (or) even playing a sport can majorly impact your physical health and improves blood flow throughout your body, I know everyone is not built to play sport, or even if we did, we may not have the time to play in this case even going for a walk can be good.

We live in a generation where every possible food we can think off is polluted or artificially grown with pesticides. From using growth stimulators in crops to feeding fish with supplyments and antibiotics we are trapped to eat them. But this shouldn't stop us from being healthy.

Being healthy comes with the cost of spending more money than the average expenses on food. The new organic revolution across the globe made eating healthy more expensive. So how can we afford this? In my opinion, this is all about priorities we make in spending money, choose wisely before you spend.

Make your investment the best way possible because if you miss the chance once, you might not have another.

"}]

Writing and sharing your ideas can be a little intimidating, especially on the internet where you do not exactly know who is going to read your articles, but I think that is the absolute beauty of the internet. Awesome people can read your articles with no judgement and either like it or dislike it, it does not matter because if they really feel strongly about it, they will reach out to you to further share ideas. That is one of the reasons that, I believe, stuMagz was established for: To easily share ideas.

The easiest way to share ideas is to write them down and let the world see it, so what is stopping you from doing so? The problem with writing, take it from someone who enjoys writing, is the actual start of the process. Once you're in the zone, it is much easier. Similar to going to the gym.

So allow me to build a bridge for you, here are 5 topics that I think you guys could do fantastic at writing.

1. Write about your experiences:

The core of the human condition, our experiences! The ones that define who we truly are as a people. People writing about their experiences make for great learning texts we can learn from. The best kind of experiences are the ones where you take a hit and learn something from it, trust me, it makes for a fantastic read.

2. Write about travelling:

When I was a kid, I used to imagine travelling to amazing and far off lands that I'd only just heard of in the books I used to devour at the library until the librarian threw me out. I used to write about me, a young boy excited to go on his first adventure, making his way alone to the lands I had read about and detailing my journey along the way. It has remained one of the best things I've done in my life, inspiring in me the love for writing.

I've since then written extensively about travels that I've actually undertaken and will continue to do so. Maybe you should too.

3. Write How-To Guides:

What's the point of having a talent if you cannot share it? Take some time off your awesome day and write down guides on how to gain a skill that you already have. Are you a decent guitarist? Write about the prerequisites of learning how to play the guitar and what one must do to achieve their goals in this arena. Do you think you're a decent photographer? Write down your favourite recipes, write down why a dish is something one must absolutely taste, write why we should eat your favourite food. 5. Write About Your Hopes and Dreams:

Yesterday, I wrote an article about writing a letter to your future self. What I did not mention in that article was that I'd written a letter for myself and that it was going to be delivered on my birthday in 4 years. You can choose to write about what your hopes and dreams are on stuMagz as well, or share your vision of the country with the world. Don't limit yourself, don't think you do not have a story to tell, just sit down, look at the screen and start typing. You can do it, I believe in you.

For what reason it may be, joining any engineering institute means your’s time there is fixed. Let me just say it outright your third and fourth years are going to be one hell of a time crunch. There will be placement training in the third year and may even, no, absolutely going to continue in the fourth year. In the fourth year, you will have your drives and projects…it’s fully packed. So, you can have somewhat of a free and stress-less time only during the first and second year. That’s why many try to enjoy these two years. I am not against it as someone who did the same. But it’s best to use this time to add something to your resume.

It’s not the same odd saying “time should be used productively” said be who knows who. I am just stating you may feel that “you are saying the same”. No, not at all. There are a ton of things you can do in these two years with your friends, which are equally enjoyable and becomes a good line in your resume. Like becoming a member of an organising body of an event in college where you can interact with seniors and work with them well, mostly you are the one that’s going to work. But let’s not forget the meet up’s in restaurants, staying in the college late and skipping classes for a valid reason. It is just one of the things there, are many more.

Internships are one of them well friends being a part of it somewhat far-fetched but not entirely impossible, maybe? So, let us go to the main plan, to state about the internships. To get a head start well, who doesn’t want to show off that they did an internship in their starting years? And when it is from a MAANG, it’s the icing on the cake.
