[{"type":"txt","id":"rich_1505656426592","data":"<p>Recently on September 16, CMRTC celebrated 50th engineers day which is also the 157th birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya a legendary engineer. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman and the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. He is a recipient of the Indian Republic's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955. He was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V for his contributions to the public good. 15 September is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India in his memory. He was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya district as well as the chief designer of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad.<\/p><p>The event was organized by the Civil Engineer's department of CMRTC. As a part of engineer\u2019s day, there were many competitions like essay writing, paper presentation, and the quiz which were held in advance whereas model and the poster presentation were held on 16 September itself. All the competitions saw a huge participation from the students of all departments. The program which was scheduled on 15th September was postponed to 16th due to mid examinations. The event started at 2 after the arrival of our special guest Smt.J Sridevi who is a chief engineer in I&CAD department and the first women to work there. Later our guest delivered her speech and added colours to the event. Next was the prize distribution session followed by felicitation of the chief guest. The event was happily winded up. The event surely saw a great enthusiasm from the students who gave their best and the faculty advisors who worked hard to make it a success.
