A raw and vibrant artist, Neha Chandana from G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Sciences is making her way to establish her career in music.

Growing up in an artistic family, Neha’s grandmother was a talented singer, whose voice would fill the house with songs from the early 90’s. Her mother sang old classical songs every night. This love of music at home nurtured her desire for graceful expression. From a young age, she became the entertainment at every large family gathering.

txt
rich_1562862841312

On being asked about her journey, the young singer says, “I found my love for singing around 5 years old and with the support of my parents and Guru (Mrs. Padma) I have been able to fine-tune my skills stepping into the Classical music world.”

Reminiscing the memories of her first stage performance at Saregamapa at the age of 6, she says, “ my mother gets emotional every time she watches the video. Little did we all know about this person but the immense talent she carries is unbeatable. Her stellar performance at the freshers party 2 years ago still echoes in the auditorium.

Her music is a perfect blend of classical and soulful pop with rhythmic beats. As she continues to evolve, she wishes to step outside her comfort zone while remaining authentic and true to her voice. "Sports is my shot of boost" says Suraj.

His passion for sports started as soon as his legs knew how to run!!
He plays various sports like Cricket, Basket ball, Badminton, Volleyball and is also a Professional Swimmer.

For him it's mainly from his father, who plays and has taught him this art. He also gets a lot of inspiration through Olympics and different Sports competition that he sees.

Michael Fred Phelps an American retired Swimmer, and the most successful and decorated Olympian of all time, has helped Suraj learn a lot and assures him that "If they can do it then anyone can".

Suraj is very active and energetic but unlike us he doesn't get his energy through food or a good rest, for him it's through sports!

His all time favorite sport is Cricket, Volleyball and Swimming!!
He participated and won many competitions.

He says that he is grateful for the platform little flower degree college has given, this helps him to work with his team mates and learn the true meaning of sportsmen ship.

But that's not the end, Suraj had this to say and I quote "I won't stop until I win a national level competition" we admire his determination.

The spark inside him only continues to grow and his undying love for sports, can be visible by the enthusiasm in his voice when ever he hears or speaks about sports.

As our parents started joining Facebook and Instagram in droves, we started to look for another platform to join. Just then Snapchat came into the market which is very fun to use and there’s a lot to discover on it. The moments in our lives are temporary and that’s exactly how Snapchat is designed for. It had become a part of our lives. Our day starts with a good morning snap and ends with good night snap. So here are 10 things only Snapchat user will relate to.

1. Snapchat streaks and emojis:

In this Snap generation, your friendship and bond with your friends are defined by the number of days you maintain the streaks with them and emoji that appears next to their name.

2. A look back at memories:

Have you ever felt like asking Snapchat not to show memories from the past year which hits you hard because your life is different now?

3. Hourglass:

How many of you had this mini heart attack when you saw an hourglass which indicates that you are about to break the streak with your friend?

4. Filters:

If you are addicted to the snap filters, then trust me you’ll hardly click pictures with a normal camera and most of the time you will be trying all random filters like dog filter, gender swap filter, baby face filter which are mostly being used.

One of the reasons why most of us are attracted to Snapchat is for its’ disappearing photos and message functionality because you can share all your secrets and hilarious pics with your friends just for a few seconds.

6. Bizarre usernames:

7. Snap score:

Most of us don’t know what this snap score is. Snap score is nothing but the number of snaps that you have sent and received. The score on the left is the number of snaps sent and the other on right is the number of snaps received.

8. Timer option:

"My father, always encouraged me to play Kabaddi" recalls Murali Krishna of 4th year Mechanical department, in conversation with us on the benches near the sports room. It's sports time for our senior, and so many other sports enthusiasts at CMRCET. Murali Krishna is quite a familiar name among those students who spend their time on the ground and for those who cheer for those on the ground.

Murali Krishna, a sports prodigy of CMRCET, started playing Kabaddi at 15. He played a district level tournament at 15, but had to put a pause for a period of two years. He set his foot back in the court in the college, he represented CMRCET in many inter college competitions and represented JNTU for two inter university matches. His team has won 6 inter college matches and runners up for 5 other matches, for CMRCET. He represented JNTU twice, Satyam University in 2018 and SRM University in 2019. He was selected for VIVO Pro Kabaddi season 7.

While camping in Mumbai he had a leg injury, and has to get a surgery done next week, he says he will grab the very next opportunity, which will come his way.

When asked why he started playing the game, he says it was his father's passion for the game which led him to choose the game. "He(his father) always supported me and encouraged me to play the game" he says. He shares that he wanted to join the Indian Army right after his intermediate, but chose to have a degree in hand before he joined the army upon the suggestion of one of his relatives. When asked why engineering? he says he believes engineering colleges has a little more fun element than degree colleges.

He spends his free time watching movies, playing cricket or hits the gym. He confesses that he is big time foodie.

He expresses his gratitude towards the college and says " Narayana sir (principal), Ravi Kumar sir ( HOD of mechanical department), Rafeeq sir (Physical director) have been quite supportive always."

"Thank you CMR" he says signing out.

We wish our dearest senior all the best for his endeavors.

Having a career is very important in life as it gives a sense of direction in our life. But here comes the question: Do you view your career as a journey or a destination?

"Visualizing career as a journey worth a lot and could be even related to that of life journey... Many times things don't go along our expectations but there would be the scope of still dreaming high and never giving up! Then finally, our efforts will sort whole things out and in the end, everything would be great", tells Dr. R. Archana Reddy (Dean Academics - SR Engineering College) who started her career initially as a teacher by chance, later on, realized that teaching is an art and felt as if it was gifted to her. After a couple of years, at a very young age, she took up the administration, then worked as a HOD next was promoted as principal of Sumathi Reddy College, later worked a Dean student welfare (SREC), and at present is holding the position as Dean Academics. Isn't it inspirational!

After knowing this, I got the true justification for the statement - Career as a journey that is going thoughtfully from one role to another or one organization to another fills your expectations of progressing through your career, or life. "Setting your sites on a collection of experiences that you wish to have is the measurable way of managing your career."

We students of SREC have a special bond with Archana Mam. The way she interacts with the students and the way she manages all the things is really appreciable. Believe it or not, apart from her position, she even continues teaching... For us, M1 classes in the first sem were that interesting only because it was taught by Archana mam.

Here is a small interview with Dean Academics of SREC - truly inspiring!

txt
rich_1562760588916

Q: Mam, can you share information about your qualifications and how did you reach this position?

I am basically from Hyderabad. I have done my schooling from St. Anns High School, Secunderabad. I have even completed my Intermediate from Wesley Junior College for girls, Secunderabad. Later I have done my degree from SRR Govt. degree college, Karimnagar and pursued my post graduation from Kakatiya University. My interest in Mathematics led me to do a Ph.D. in that subject from JNTUH.

And when comes to my career part, I worked in the teaching field for a few years and later I took up administration in Christu Jyothi Engineering College for 9 long years and now I am associated with SR from last 12 years. Initial days in SREC were really special to me. I was into teaching for about 2-3 years then I was promoted as HOD. Then after, I was transferred to Sumathi Reddy College (SRITW) as a principal. Later when I came back, I took up academics and sustained as associative dean for 2 years. Then, lead the role of Dean Student affairs for 3 years and now rendering as Dean Academics - SREC.

txt
rich_1562760588917

Q: Mam, which part of your career you liked the most... like you felt it amazing?

Well, I was as a Dean of Student Affairs for about 3 years. And that was the best part of my career. It was a combination of both work+enjoyment. (gesture laughing) It was just spending the whole time with young energetic boys and beautiful girls like you. The main job was again placements that kept always on my toes very active. It was the job where you need to be in touch with students 24/7 hours. So, my whats app used to be active about 12:00 - 1:00 clock in the night. Because students have a lot of queries and any small issues were like a big thing for them. So, I used to always be in reach.

Placements - I enjoyed that because every placement drive was like me going for a job interview! And for the moment, the student goes into the interview panel and comes out, we used to keep waiting like what happens? So, it was even stressful but after every selection, we used to celebrate. So, that was really an amazing part of my career.

Q: Challenges are part of every career... So, Mam what is the biggest challenge you faced till now?

The biggest challenge in career is being faced by me right now because I am into academics and it is a very serious job. Unlike placements is like you know, you get success some times when companies are going good and all that but I could say that, academics is a serious business and even one small mistake from our side can cost you a lot. So, that is one thing.

Second thing is, like working with the students is much easier. Now, I had to work with professors, HOD's and carry on all the discussions and meetings regarding scheduling academics. Challenges which we are facing right now is that engineering education is taking a new paradigm shift! 10 years ago teaching was a totally different scenario and today's teaching is different. So, when we try to change faculty from conservative teaching to more of outcome-based education... There are a lot of challenges... But we are positive and slowly changes are happening and in the coming few years we have much more to do.

txt
rich_1562760588918

Q: Mam, what is your vision i.e, where do you want to see the college in the next coming years?

Our vision is to see SR engineering college rank among top 20 engineering colleges and to see it as a deemed university by 2020. So, I think we are going close. If not one and half year but a few months here and there hopefully. This is our all-time goal and hope we are going to achieve it very soon.

Q: What is your opinion on the students of SREC and what would you suggest them?

SREC students are really active and taking part in different competitions like hackathons. Through support from SRIX, our student innovators are able to explore a lot and their innovations are getting a huge response like the recent one i.e, Team Sagely- gadget built by our students to monitor the use of water was selected for the Start-Up India-Telangana Yatra and even received appreciation from K.T.Rama Rao. So, as you are studying engineering, your prior motive must be to do something innovative that would be helpful for society. Thus, I would suggest students take active participation in different technical and innovation competitions and make SR name ringing all over.
