Although parents, schools, and the federal government are trying to get children and teenagers to "just say no" to drugs, more than $25 billion worth of cigarette, alcohol, and prescription drug advertising is effectively working to get them to "just say yes" to smoking, drinking and other drugs. In addition, television programs and movies contain appreciable amounts of substance use.

Many studies and survey have found that a large percentage of people who abuse drugs and alcohol are teens still in high school. The fact that teens and college students have at least experimented with the drugs or alcohol at one time or another, even if they don't abuse them.

Many people become addicted to harmful substances at an young age which can continue in to adulthood. A large percentage of people in recovery at drug and alcohol rehab centers consist of young adults. Abusing harmful such has heroin, cocine and alcohol negatively effects both physical and mental health of a teenager, and drug and alcohol abuse may lead to various other complications.

Drugs can be effected in many ways like it can be at any age can cause serious health effects, but teens who abuse drugs are more likely to struggle with addiction later in life and have permanent and cause brain damage. Due to various problems youth is effected to drugs.

1. EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS: Drug abuse can cause or emotional problem such as anxiety, depression, sucidial thoughts etc..In fact among all of them youth is facing major depression, 34.6 percent were using drugs. Unfortunately, drug use can also increase the severity of these problems.

2. BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS: Youth who abuse drugs have an increase risk of social problems, depression, suicidal thoughts and violence. According to recent survey, youth who abuse drugs are more likely than youth who don't abuse drugs such as fighting and stealing.

3. LEARNING PROBLEMS: Drug abuse damages short term and long term memory and can lead to problems with learning and memory later in life

4. DISEASES: Young people who abuse drugs with needles increase their risk of blood-brone diseases like HIV, AIDS, hepatitis B and C.

5. BRAIN DAMAGE: Drug abuse among youth is serious mental disorder to the brain or nervous system. Brain damage who abuse drugs includes impaired learning abilities, memory problems, brain shrinkage.

6. CAR ACCIDENTS: People who abuse drugs are more likely to be involved in car accident related injuries or death. One study showed that 4 to 14 percent of drivers who injured or die in traffic accidents test positive for THC.

Addiction is an involuntery process. It may not be fair to associate a person's addictive behavior with his moral character. The brain response to an addict changes in such a way that he continues to live with the bad habits and addictions in spite of understanding it's dangerous implementations. A part from therapy and medicines, the person requires a lot of love, affection, support and motivation to get over with the addiction.
